October 17, 2009 Western

Ok.. So Steve has me thinking about FE and so I am thinking more and more about doing it. Looking at the homemade FE gifts thread and OMG, that is just crazy. I know I can never be as creative as some of those folks, plus not sure I could haul it all there or expect you to haul it home.

So if I do it will be something simple and useful and small

If I put my DD7 up to it, she would give you all rabbits :confused3 Not Disney related, but just her favorite thing.

Now in search of a FE, because I am not crafty and can not make one of my own.

Laura

Hey with it only being 112 days until the cruise, when will everyone be making their final payment? My Travel agent is out until July 5, so I plan to make my payment on July 10. Then I can be ready to make the online reservations the next week (at the 90 day mark) (Not lucky enough to be making reservations at 105 days out)

Laura

Three words: PAID. IN. FULL. :cool1:

I was doing the monthly thing with the trusty TA, and just got tired of it and paid it off after I got my Income Tax return. I also prepaid my gratuities so that is one less thing I have to worry with when I get my statement of how much I spent on the cruise...

We are slowing inching our way there! I don't want to give up my summer, but I wish it would get here already!!!

It is going to be 105 degrees today. I am ready to give up my Summer and be on the boat.

Congratulations to being paid off. in 2 weeks we will be in the same situtation. I have to look into the prepay gratuitites though, that is something I just learned about.

Hello everyone!
I am late in anwering yesterday's question.
DH - Mickey
Me - Mickey/Minnie

I guess we are traditional. Of course, I also like Pooh.

I just read that these are the current rotations:

PLAAPLA 5:45 & 8:15
LAPPLAP 5:45 & 8:15
APLLAPL 5:45 & 8:15

I am very happy with that. This way I don't have to agonize over possibly getting the 8:30 seating. I've had it a few times and it usually means you get to Rockin Bar D too late to get a seat. Nice to know that all rotations will now be equal.

Missed yesterdays question, but my favorite character is Ursula! (Unfortunately we have the same arms!) Hubby likes Goofy.

I'm not crafty either but someone posted easy directions on how to make an FE that didn't involve sewing. It only involved cutting out and using fuse tape. If you're interested in giving it a try, I made one for our last cruise and it was not so tough. Really. The fabric, interfacing, notions and dowel ran me about $17.00.

Okay, now you got me wondering. :confused3 Who is Phil form Hercules?
I have only seen that move once and I can not place him.

Laura

Phil is the satyr who trains Hercules.

Way to go! I paid ours off late last month with the AAA Visa vouchers I've been saving up. We might be getting extra OBC. When we first booked, the fuel surcharge was in place. If oil prices stay under 70.00 a barrel by September (don't know what date), the fuel charge will be removed and issued as OBC. Right now we have 625.00 in OBC, so I wouldn't mind another couple hundred. Figuring tips, drinks, bingo and souvenirs, we could use whatever OBC we get.

John - I (along with the kids) assigned him a character several years ago: Grumpy. He now has a large collection of Disney t-shirts featuring Grumpy!

It's good to know you didn't all vote to call him Dopey!

Really?? Is this DCL policy?? How did you find this out?? Do tell... :upsidedow

Wow... I hope they remove the fuel charge! that would be awesome!

For those interested in prepaing their gratuities.. just tell your TA and they factor that in with your total. They told me that I will still get the cards, but it will say paid on them, or something like that. I like paying for all I can now, so there is less angst over my bill... I try to go on the cheap. I can't afford excursions really, for another couple of years, and really love being on the boat while everyone is in port, but I still manage to spend a good deal of money. I just have to be careful. We will see if I like it. If I do, I guess I will prepay from now on.

aghh.. everything I go looking for this posting of our meet. I end up in the OCT 16,2010 meet, because it is almost always above ours in the meet catagory. So bumping this one to the top.

I will ask today's question if Sue doesn't mind?

When was your first trip to a Disney park?

Okay, I am showing my age here...
DL - was back in the late 60's or early 70's when they still did the ticket system for rides. I was very young. My Sisters who were in High School got in trouble for wearing elastic (to look like Sandles) as shoes, by a cast member

WDW - was back in 1974, when we went to visit my brother who went to college at FIT. Magic Kingdom was the only thing there and we just did a day visit.

Hey lucky,

Go to the thread tools and subscribe to this thread. Then, whenyou sign on, go up to User CP in the red bar and it will pull up your subscribed threads so you don't have to always hunt for them... I keep my DISign threads and cruise threads there. I have about 11 subscribed threads... :hippie:

Wow, is it ever hailing out right now and it's not just little balls of ice but jagged chunks mixed with the rain!

Penny asked what I knew about the fuel surcharge. I'm no authority, but I'll tell you what I remember from my visit with our travel agent this week. I was sitting at the TA's desk while she was on the phone with DCL. My agent was repeating back to me what the DCL agent was telling her.

When we booked, the price of oil was high, so the surcharge was in effect. Even thought the price has since dropped to under 70.00 a barrel, the charge will not be removed just yet. It has to be below the 70.00 mark a month (or closer) to the date of the cruise. Any reimbursement will be in the form of an onboard credit.

What I don't know is if people who book right now (or recently) for October also had a fuel surcharge applied to their bill or if because oil is under 70.00 right now, there was no fuel surcharge applied. I know the paperwork we all have does reserve the right of the cruiseline to add the surcharge. So, even if there was no added surcharge, one could be added at any time if the price of oil goes over 70.00 again.

Make sense? Does anyone have more information on this?

Did I tell you all my dad invited us to go on a NCL cruise next year? It's his grandkids he really wants to go, but we're part of the package since he and his wife are not physically capable of acting as guardian of our children.

First visit to the Disney park.....1978...Magic Kingdom...Our family was visiting adult cousins in Tampa. We went to the park for the day. I remember a little about it. Too young for Space Mountain, very impressed with the Contemporary Hotel, ate lunch at a buffet there. First and only time as a kid.

It was probably 13 or 14 years later, during one of our visits to see my mother, who lives in Florida, that Dh and I visited Epcot. I'd like to do that again with the whole family.

Answer to YESTERDAY's Question :)

First visit to Disney Park: 2000 - Disneyland Paris.

Today's Question:

If you've cruised before on Western, what Disney Shore excursion OR activity off-ship did you like best?

If you've NOT cruised before on Western itinerary, what are you looking forward to doing?

I've not cruised Western before but I've heard a lot about the Pirate encounter and seeing as we like pirates, we'll probably do that. And dolphins, of course :).

I have not cruised the western before, but this might be strange but I am looking forward to going to Key West and hitting the Southern part of the US.
I am probably the only one that is interested in Key West. Outside of that looking foward to seeing the beautiful waters of the Caribbean

Ok... about the fuel surcharge:

Called the TA today....
DCL gets quotes or purchases quarterly for oil. Our cruise in the 4th quarter of the year and they will be getting their quote sometime mid September. If the price of oil remains below $70, there will be no fuel surcharge....
When I booked last OCtober, the charge was in effect. Currently, people who are booking for ugust cruises have no fuel charge. My TA called Disney to see if they could "rework" my cruise. Disney agreed since I was paid in full. They stated that there is no guarantee that you will get that back in an onboard credit. If the price of oil should go above $70, Disney can add a fuel charge to anyone's cruise, but the likelyhood of them adding it to a customer who is paid in full is nearly none, as that is bad buisness.

So.... there it is. My suggestion is to not wait to see if you get that money back as a shipboard credit, call your TA and get the money back now if DCL will agree... I got $112.
