Hello All!

Hope everyone is well. Was just curious if anyone is hitting the Magic Kingdom before the cruise? My wife wants to check out the MNSSHP the day or so before we leave for the cruise. Has anyone done the Halloween party before at Disney? Is it nice?

Thanks,
Pete

I've never done it, but I have done Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party, which is a lot of fun. I assume MNSSHP is similar.

Welcome to the group Kimberlee. I'll add your family to the list on page one. Did you know about the Disboard last year or did you (gasp) cruise without the benefit of its wisdom and advise?

I was on the disboards last year, not posting much, but mostly lurking and gathering all the great info! Im soooo happy I found the boards. We are doing 3 days at Magic Kingdome before the cruise, we did this last year and stayed at the Beach Resort and had a ball! I cant wait, we are all super excited.

Welcome Kimberlee and Calmpets!
Mum and I have done MNSSHP several times and love it - and my pupils love all the candy I bring back for them!
Have a good weekend everyone.
Wendy

Welcome Kim! I'd love to hear some stories from last October! Our DS turns 8 next month, will Jakob be going to the lab? Carter didn't spend much time in the kid's club on our RCCL cruise last Feb, gonna talk it up a little before we go. Thanks for the congats for my hubby. I am very proud:goodvibes

Pete, I wanted SOOOOOOOOOO bad to do MNSSHP, it is not offered on the 16th or the 24th:sad2: It is however offered on the 15th and 25th, I think  I can't justify a one day pass, so no MK for us. We'll hit DD on our way back to MCO on debarkation day. That's all the WDW we'll get this trip.

DBIL and DSIL are headed down tomorrow. Ho hum, such a shame work gets in the way of vacation:rolleyes1

Hi Shannon,

Yea, was kind of bummed when I saw the dates of MNSSHP. Need to see if the family and I can swing the 15th. I think my gang would love it especially the candy part. This will be my daughter's first trip to WDW so she will have a blast anyway, but throw in walking around in a halloween custom with her older brothers...bonus!

Regards,
Pete

For the sake of conversation and because I am interested in your answer, what do you say when someone asks you, "Where are you from?" Do you answer with where you were born, where you spent most of your childhood (if you were born one place but moved soon after), where you currently live, or some place else? Does it depend on the situation in which you are being asked? I was born and raised in Philadelphia but I've spent the last 16 years in Frederick County, MD. So, if someone locally asks where I'm from, I answer Philadelphia. If we were on a Disney Cruise or something like that, I'd say Frederick, MD. How do you answer that question?

Been meaning to reply to your question Yazee. We live in Virginia and when asked where I am from will either say Northern VA or Washington D.C. When traveling out of the country, I have found more people know where D.C. is then necessarily where ol'Virginia is.

Okay, what's MNSSHP... for silly ol' me :)??

Lara *my 4.5 year old* got a postcard from Mickey that came in our confirmation..!! :) she was OVER THE MOON.. and couldn't stop talking about her postcard FROM mickey mouse!!

1st Post here at DISBoards We too are going on the Western on Oct 17th after a 5 day WDW Stay, we are members of DVC so we are going to see how Sarasota Springs works out, can't believe how much they want for groceries!

Congratulations on your first post, Castmember02. What's the deal with the groceries? Do you have to buy them on-site?

It's so tempting to make the Parks part of our vacation. Our children have never been to any of the Disney attractions. That party with the candy sounds like fun. ;)

Happy Mother's Day to the moms on this thread. I hope you all had a special day. I woke up with the sniffles yesterday and by night had a full blown head cold. Just in time for Mother's Day. I had no appetite for a big breakfast which is what the family usually plans for me. I stayed home from church and Dh subbed for me so I wouldn't share my cold germs with my children's Sunday School class. My family, in general, is trying to make it a nice day for me and the sun is shining (finally). You can't ask for more than that.

Hi!
Last October was so great, the weather was beautiful EVERYDAY! We had to miss St. Thomas as there was a hurricane warning and the captain didnt want to risk it, so we spent the day in Nassau instead, which we were totally fine with. Everyone was so friendly last year and we had a ball, the boys actually cried when we got off the ship. Jakob and Braxton both spent a lot of time in the Kids club, they both loved it and asked to go there ALL the time!
We will be doing MNSSHP on Oct 15th, as we will be arriving in Orlando on the 14th. It looks like soooo much fun and Im really excited to see all the characters dressed up!

Hi Gang!
Did everyone have a good Mom's day??
The weather was gorgeous here, so we did brunch and then sat outside for awhile and roasted hot dogs and marshmellows for dinner.
Hope all the moms had a great day!!

Ah yes, Mother's Day:sad2:
Woke up to a beautiful day. Cool, but sunny. My mom and mother-in-law arrived, and off to lunch we went. Then off to two nurseries. Got lots of pretty posies!!! Then we had dinner. The boys cooked a feast of steak and baked potatoes. YUM-E. We were just finishing up dessert (chocolate silk pie) when DS went into the basement looking for a hammer. "Mommy, Daddy, there's water going all over Mommy's desk" DH went to check it out, he wasn't even to the second step when I heard him say, "Oh my God, I can hear it". I raced to the back spigot, and turned off the pressure. It was turned on for watering the new flowers. We just undid the valve last month. I did turn them off for the winter. Didn't know you're supposed to open the outside valve. Lesson learned. The pipe that burst was directly overhead of my scrapbook desk:scared1: Luckily, I had most projects all packed away. All of my photos were safe in a box. Some stuff was hit pretty hard with water, and is spread out drying. One album got it's bottom inch pretty wet. The paper is a little crinkled, but not a total loss. So we had 2 shop vacs sucking water. (Thanks Dale for all your help:goodvibes), and since then have had 3 fans and 2 dehumidifiers going. It could have been aLOT worse, and and least it was clean water.

OH NO! I guess it could have been worse, your right....Thank God your son needed the hammer....lol Of course it had to rain right ontop on the scrapbook stuff, Im glad you were able to save most of it, it would have been terrible if any of it was ruined! Glad to hear the dinner was yummy!:yay:

Howdy, everyone! I am new to the 10/17 cruise. I was over on the 10/3 since I think September, 2008, but sadly my husband couldn't get the appropriate week off of work and we had to push the cruise back a bit. I know it isn't a huge loss, but it has cost us a couple hundred dollars and I liked the location of our other stateroom better. Due to having to switch everything I told him he has to buy me a massage on the ship. Seems fair, right?

This is our very 1st cruise. I am super-excited.

I have read this whole thread before posting and I will say: I do turkey meatloaf, I say I am from Iowa (although I have been in California for 10 years), and I will not be doing the FE, mainly because we don't have any kids.

I can't wait to go!:goodvibes
