October 16, 2011 Mexican Riviera on the Wonder

I hope the weather improves for Puerto Vallerta. I checked the 10-day forecast today and there is a 50-60% chance of storms every one of those 10 days. We are doing the pirate cruise thing there and I don't want it canceled. Cabo looks good for the next 10 days though, at least if you like temps in the 90's. We do.

I, too, hope things clear up. Hurricane Irwin and Tropical Storm Jova (estimated to become a hurricane on Monday) are both heading for Puerto Vallarta now scheduled for landfall approx. Tuesday and Wednesday next week. Additionally, there is another disturbance a little further south that has a 30% chance of tropical cyclone formation. Since we don't get to PV until the following Tuesday, we may be OK.

We will pull out the suitcases tomorrow and start packing. With airline baggage fees, we will be packing lighter for this cruise; plus, we always seem to have an outfit our two come home clean each time.

I hadn't heard about the hurricanes. Hopefully all we be clear when we get there.

We are flying SW, so no baggage fees, but we will be gone 2-1/2 weeks, so we will have quite a bit of luggage for 3 people. At least we won't have 1 suitcase filled with nothing but diapers this go-round. That was the case when we went to DL and did the PC cruise with a 2 almost 3yo. DD is now 9.

On our last one, we scheduled to meet for lunch one day in the dining room. Perhaps we could do this on Monday or Tuesday (both are sea days) which is early enough into the cruise so that we can plan other meets (if we wanted to) or at least be able to recognize each other for the rest of the cruise???

I would love to get in on the excitement of FE. This is my first cruise and am new to everything but I want to make the most of the trip and have some new friends to celebrate with!!! Any suggestions?

Finally got our confirmation and welcoming letter from the cruise!

Wedding date set Tuesday afternoon (18th), we're getting so anxious!!

Guest gifts finalized, attire all figured out, reservations made, hair done and more! I've finally got a bit of spare time to focus on non-wedding planning...this time is now being used to figure out a pirate outfit! Have previous cruisers been to the pirates party, do many folks dress up?

Hey Crystal! You don't purchase them before the cruise, you purchase them at the beginning of the cruise at Shutters. We purchased the $149.99 package which is 20 credits. Throughout the cruise we would choose pictures and they would mark it off of our card. I kept the card in my lanyard so I always had it with me. And if you ever wanted to upgrade as long as you had the card with the receipt attached you could do it any time. OR... if you decided you weren't going to use that many credits they would refund you the difference. You should remember the 6x8's are 9.95 and the 8x10's are 19.95. But with the package you basically get $50 worth of pics free.

As far as the Pirate party... YES... people do dress up! And on my cruise last week it was pretty crazy! I think more and more people are getting into it!

I don't know how they work but I know you can pre-purchase them if you want on the DCL website. It's in the Planning Center tab under Gifts & Amenities. You choose the port we are leaving from and it will bring up a huge list of stuff you can order! The photo packages are in there under Onboard Merchandise, Spa, Photo and Beverage Pre-purchase Options. I thought about doing that myself but I know me and I will probably end up buying the CD of images. I like to have LOTS of pictures!!

OMG!! Scary to hear about ALL that activity going on!! I hope it all passes thru before we get there!!

Packing has already begun here! Gotta finalize a couple more things before we're all packed but the good news is...the FE stuff is all finished and packed and ready to go!! I hope everyone likes the gifts I made!! Still waiting on the FE we ordered on eBay (back in August) to arrive and it's kinda got me worried that it won't be here in time! I sure hope it arrives soon or else I'm gonna have to use my newbie sewing skills to throw something together in a REAL HURRY!!

So very very VERY excited!! Only 8 more days! Wow!! That reminds me...gotta drop in at the post office and have them hold our mail.

Did you purchase from gradysmommy on eBay? If so I did too and I emailed her a few days ago just to make sure everything was good to go since I ordered so long ago. She said that I would have it mid-week. Sounds like she does a ton of these.

A lot of people do dress up for pirate night. We used to, but it just isn't my favorite night. So, DD gets her pirate princess t-shirt and ears and we are good. Plus, there is only so much room in the luggage, LOL!

How exciting to get married on the ship! I am sure it will be a beautiful day!
