October 16, 2011 Mexican Riviera on the Wonder

All I know is if we end up at Manzanillo, we are not getting off the ship.

Manzanillo is too far south, close to Puerto Vallarta. If PV is canceled because of weather, pretty sure Manzanillo won't be an option either.

Not to be the bearer of bad weather news, but this week's itinerary on the Wonder has been changed. The will be doing Cabo on Tues and Wed and then Ensenada on Saturday. The captain wants to stay north of the two hurricanes heading for Puerto Vallarta. This would also make for a better cruise for the passengers. As a passenger on another cruiseline who will rename nameles (cough..Carnival...cough) it is not pleasant going through a hurricane. Although it is dissapointing to miss a port or two and have ports substituted, I would rather take that then what we went through.

Hopefully both of these weather patterns are finished by the time we need to be sailing through the area in a week! Everybody spread the pixie dust around. :wizard:

With any luck, the Weather Channel's forecast of 94* with a 40% chance of scattered thundershowers either holds or gets better! The hurricane tracker at weather.com is predicting landfall Tuesday as a weak Cat 4 or a Cat 3, weakening to a Cat 1 by early Wed AM and a minor storm with 25 mph winds by Fri AM... http://www.weather.com/weather/hurricanecentral/storms/2011/Jova

And while yes, Tropical Storm Irwin is sitting offshore to do something, Jova seems to have stolen most of its strength - with any luck, it will just die out, and a little pixie dust should mean it doesn't affect us other than a little seasonal rain! :thumbsup2 According to NOAA, the current status is A) 40 mph winds, B)weakening, and C) moving toward shore faster! Even better, the highest prediction I see is only a 7% chance of it even becoming a weak Cat 1 hurricane by Thursday, then dropping to 3% by this weekend. Feel free to monitor here with fingers, toes and anything else you have crossed: http://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

You're right, Manzanillo is south of PV - DCL wouldn't skip PV due to a hurricane, but sail through the same hurricane to hit a port that just as much in the landfall zone as PV...

I just checked my tracking number and it shows my FE is in Phoenix, so hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow. I agree, she needs to overnight the others since she seems to have dropped the ball.

I emailed her again last night and she replied this morning saying mine would go out today and that she would send it priority instead of the normal first class. I don't have a tracking number yet but she said I would have it Thursday. Crossing my fingers!

A note for the FE people: I will probably deliver my gifts on either the second sea day or the Puerta Vallarta day. A special thank you to Jathanis for keeping track of everthing. And to everyone: Have a great cruise!
Marianne

The will be doing Cabo on Tues and Wed and then Ensenada on Saturday.

Glad to hear they are keeping the guests experience/safety as the primary consideration. I am however curious how they will handle the wedding (ie shift it to a different day? I really hope we can continue to have it on an at sea day).

Also, how do they handle excursions in this case? I had a couple through Disney, and one handled on my own. Do they try to reschedule the ones scheduled through them?

Last part, how do we get any information on this, you and your super detective work, I wasn't able to find any information about an itinerary change! :rotfl:

Thanks so much for the heads up though! I'm so excited to get aboard I'm already losing sleep!

As far as your wedding goes... they would just shift it to a different sea day if that is what you prefer.

Excursions will either be refunded to your shipboard account as they were charged to it upon boarding, or rescheduled depending on the company running the excursions. It depends on how many boats are in port that day and if they are already booked for another cruise. Ones on your own.. well you may want to check their cancellation policy as you may be out of luck.

As far as if they are going to change our itinerary, we won't know until we board. As far as this weeks itinerary, I am not sure. I could not find anything either.

Here you all go, one page back on the main page: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2814352

It apparently said that the OP's parents on the trip learned about the change at check-in. Not sure if this was what Phred was referring to, but it's the only place I've heard about it. Please note, though, that this was a one time change for current weather, and our itinerary is unlikely to change unless another storm pops up...

I just checked my tracking number and it shows my FE is in Phoenix, so hopefully it will be delivered tomorrow. I agree, she needs to overnight the others since she seems to have dropped the ball.

Not cool! I emailed again and she has no plans of overnighting. This is what I sent her...mind you, I'm still trying to be nice cause I'm SOL if she doesn't send it at all cause its been longer than 45 days so eBay doesn't cover me with Buyer Protection anymore. :headache:

"What method do you use to ship? Our mail delivery is supposed to be stopped as of Wed the 12th, that's why that was my need by date..."

Her response...

"I ship USPS. Would you like me to ship it to a hotel or resort to arrive by Thursday? If you mail is stopped on Wednesday you will not get this because it will not get to you until Thursday. Are you getting on the boat on Thursday?"

REALLY??! UGH!! I replied to her to make sure she's clear that I DO want her to mail it still, was just hoping I wouldn't have to come out and ask for her to overnight it when it's HER fault its not here by the date I gave her! To say the least, I am NOT a happy camper!! :headache: :sad2:

Now I'm REALLY hoping she actually does send it today, regardless of when it will get here!! Way to make me stress out 5 days before we leave!! :(

That is not cool at all.. Especially since she seems to have assured all of us that she would get them to us BEFORE our need by dates. Ugh! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Brandy!

I found out about this week's itinerary change from the post referenced. I also saw it posted in a USA Today article yesterday afternoon.

Based on weather forecasts for these storms, it's really looking favorable for us. Jova now is estimated to only be category 2 when hitting shore and to be inland by Thursday. Irwin is peetering out and is now downgraded to a Tropical Depression. :wizard::wizard::wizard:

I was not worried about my FE from the same eBay seller as I have my in-hand date as this Thursday; but now I'm getting worried. Maybe I'll send a reminder. I placed my order 30 days from my required date and I received a message stating that she was on the Disney Dream and wouldn't be back for a few weeks. This, I believe, is why she is behind. She should have pulled down her auctions for a week so this wouldn't happen. I'll give an update on the status of our FE shortly.

Glad to hear things may settle down storm-wise four our cruise. True, Manzanillo is too far south to replace PV. It was our replacement for CSL. I just really hated that port!

Anaheim looks awesome for our arrival on Thursday; 89 and sunny!

I just heard back on my FE. She is shipping it today and said she would upgrade it to Priority from first class to get it to me on Thursday. So nice that she is upgrading me to Priority mail since her auction listing showed Priority shipping included.

As long as we have no more surprise miracle babies, we won't need to worry about another FE for a very long time!!!

I'd like to know which Disney dream she is on because the one I know only does 3, 4, and 5 night cruises? :confused3

And even at that... she needed to clarify arrival times more accurately as it should not have taken longer than 2 weeks to get it to you. It sounds like she either needs to pick up the pace or stop taking orders for a while until she catches up. :sad2:

According to her listing she was on the Dream Sep. 11-15. I ordered my FE on Sep. 1st, so it seems she should have been able to get it to me by Oct. 10th as I requested. I agree she should stop taking orders if she can't fulfill them in the promised time frame. I'm an ebay seller too and I already put my store on vacation hold until I get back.

I was hoping someone going on this cruise could do me a favour?

Could someone ask Snow White if she was on the Panama West Bound cruise this past January, and if she will still be on the Wonder when it goes to Hawaii next April?

I realize that is a long time for a cast member to be in the same role, but we are just curious..

Thanks

Tony

My FE just arrived :thumbsup2 , hope you all get yours in time!

YAY!! Happy yours arrived!! During our last email exchange, she told me she'd even upgrade mine to Express mail. How nice... :rotfl: Anyways, not gonna stress on it anymore cause it's really got me flaming already! As far as her vacation, she did a combo Dream cruise/WDW.

Mine is finally showing as shipped in My eBay :) but the tracking number is still too new to register any online tracking results. Hopefully it'll make it here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for everyone else's as well!!

Lets all keep the Pixie Dust flying!! :wizard: It seems to be working as far as the weather is concerned!! :woohoo:

Final packing today. We leave tomorrow morning!!! :cool1::banana::woohoo:

YAY! We'll be right behind you leaving on Friday! We are heading up to Chicago for a night as we can't take a non-stop flight from Indy to LAX so makes for a good excuse to go to Chicago! SO EXCITED! :goodvibes
