October 13th, 2007~"Cruise-A-Palooza"

Hi everybody

Our family is deciding by Friday if we are on this cruise or not :woohoo: We are definitely cruising the week of the 13th, but we are not all together on what cruiseline...I say DCL, but my hubby is not totally convinced, yet..

I really hope we do. It has been 3 long years since we have cruised Disney...

I will keep you updated. :)

Cool. I hope you can join us! :thumbsup2

We have FIFTEEN (15) playing DIS-Tag...great turn out - THANK YOU...this is going to be fun.

I believe we've discussed meeting on Sunday between 2 and 3 - on Deck 9 – port side – just aft of the Cove Café. During this get together….I’ll need ~5 minutes with those playing DIS-Tag to pass out a list/magnet to all participating. Plus…we will need to verify everyone’s stateroom numbers…as I am hoping there is still some pixie dust out there for upgrades while checking in at port – good luck to all. Also...I hate asking...but, do we want to use name tags during our DIS-Meet? I frequent the printers for our office and can pick some up....thoughts - comments - discussion???

Thanks for all the info & for keeping up with this! I'll be there for the meet! And here's some pixie dust to help with the upgrades... pixiedust:

Spumante...YUM! Our favorite! :thumbsup2

LOL! Mine, too! Let's see... Winn Dixie shopping list: 1 bottle Asti, 1 case Heineken Light.... :lmao:

I just realized that it was about this time last year, just before our double dip western, that I said the 2nd tag in my avatar! :yay:

We pack our Champange (sp?), wine and liq. in lg. zip loc bags and pack them in our suit cases...we have never had anything broken:wizard: I also roll them up in a couple of my t-shirts to give them extra protection. Let me go back and clarify, we only take 1 bottle of Champange, we have a favorite that I get at a discount in B'ham. I know they charge a cork fee at Palo's, but with the discount, we save almost $100.00 a bottle than what DCL charges!:scared: Every cruise we have taken, the ladies always set up their own wine tasting event, everyone brings a "LOCAL BOTTLE" of wine to share. That is a good way to meet other cruisers and yes guys are invited, but some of us do not drink wine so its usually more ladies than men.:confused3 :rotfl: Plus, it's a great way to try other wines, if your like us in AL, we are limited to what we can get. My wife usually brings a bottle of Muscadine Wine, she does not drink it on a reg. basis, but other people like to try it. If anyone one is interested, let us know, it is not hard to get a group together....

Hope this helps.
If you have a wine tasting on a sea day I would participate. I have a lovely though tart Californian Cranberry wine or a nice slightly sweet Californian Bing Cherry that I brought earlier this year at Casa De Fruita.

Good morning cruisers....:surfweb:

In the Hudson Valley the mercury hit a chilling 40 degrees this morning!!! it IS still technically summer right?

I have a general question regarding the oceaneers club that I was hoping some of you may be able to shed some light on. Our three year old is going back and forth from completely potty trained to accident city....what do they do in the club if your child has an accident? do they ban accident prone kiddies???

Will she wear pull-ups? That's my plan for my 4yo son if he goes. He sometimes has little accidents if he's engrossed in something, so in that situation when I'm not right there, I would put him in pull ups. Then it's not an issue really...and he can still use the bathroom himself. Just my two cents!

Crazy Zeus,
Thank you for getting back to me on the potty question. She will wear pull ups (and generally does fulltime) however, I had read on a trip report that pull ups were a no-no since the kids are supposed to be potty trained. My guess is that the folks at Disney have seen their share of semi-trained kiddos in the clubs and I'm sure it won't be an issue, I was just worried about her because her big sis and cousin will be in the club and if she couldn't go it would really break her little heart....

:) Glad to see you already beat me to the punch & were planning on the pull ups anyway!

My main reason, too, for putting my 4yo in pull ups if he goes to the club without me is that he's really shy & doesn't like to ask others (besides our family members) where the bathroom is or if he can go. Poor guy~

OK...the whole bottled water thing got me thinking and wondering...

Do they have water (bottled or otherwise) that isn't extra $$? If you want water, must you ONLY purchase bottled water? I thought non-alcoholic beverages were included and I assumed that meant water as well. I don't care necessarily about bottled water ONLY...if the "tap" water is OK & fine to drink. I can't imagine it would be unsafe...but then again we've never been on a cruise before so I don't know what to expect.

Any advice/experiences? We won't be stopping at a store on the way to port, and I couldbring a case in a suitcase on the plane...but WHAT A MESS if it spills!

Thanks in advance for the advice!!
:tinker:

All non-alcoholic drinks are free...BUT THERE IS ONLY ONE PLACE ON THE SHIP TO GET THEM. There is a drink station on deck nine, located beside the adult pool. If you order any where else, they will charge you. Drinks are included with every meal (non-alcoholic), but if you want something in your room, you will pay. We have tried drinking water from the faucet in the room, not a good idea, IT WAS NOT GOOD.....:confused3

Plus, if you pack the water you will have a place to pack all the "shopping stuff" you are going to get. The first cruise we took, I had to go buy an extra suit just for that reason.

I hope this helped...

Oh yes, that helped tons! Now I see the NEED for the Bubba mugs. I went looking at WalMart yesterday & didn't find one, but we have two other WalMarts to choose from. With a little guy, we won't spend any time at the adult pool, so I see lots of trips to the drink station! :)

Anyone ever packed a case of water on the plane (checked luggage)? We have a little suitcase with hard sides, so I can't imagine it would get damaged. Just seems strange to pack a case of water...

OK...with the tap water...did it make you ill, or you just didn't like the taste? My son drinks lots of applejuice cut with mostly water, and I had planned to use tap water. As long as it isn't unhealthy & makes him sick, it won't taste bad because of the apple juice. But if it's going to make him ill, FORGET IT! :) We'll pack two cases of water!!!!!

Thanks again for all the advice. We've done Disney World more times than I can count & feel like I can offer tons of advice on that end. But the whole cruise thing is totally new to us!:disrocks:

Hey all! I hope everyone is having a great week. Mine's been busy. Makes the time go by much quicker. :) Hey I have a dumb question. I've seen "double dipper; double dip, etc." on some people's messages. What the heck is a double dip? Please enlighten me. :) Thanks! Kristi

Good morning everyone! :sunny:

Kristi, the double dip means for the cruises that go to Castaway Cay 2x's hence the expression "double dip." I believe they stop @ CC in the beginning of the cruise and again on the last day. Oh, and no question is a dumb question on the DISboard. ;)

Thanks, Jen for clarifying!

I always thought "double dip" was cruising 2 times in a row (ie Eastern first week and immediately going on the Western when returning from the Eastern!). :confused3

On a separate note, I thought pull-ups in the Oceaneers club was a big no-no? Did DCL relax/bend the rules a bit?

We're leaving exactly 3 weeks from today!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Thanks Jen! I thought the same thing Apoohfn did. Glad to have that clarified. Now I won't be completely lost if people start talking about double dipping. After all, weren't we raised not to double dip? :) HEEE HEEE

Yippppeeeee, only 23 days left to go! :) I can't wait!!!!!!!

I'm going to start my packing lists today so I'm at least somewhat prepared for the packing part. My DH would be annoyed if I pulled the suitcases out too early to pack. Heee Heee :)

See ya'll soon! Kristi

Can I join? We will be on the 13th cruise also. We don't have our cabin #'s until we get to the ship. I can't wait!!!!:woohoo:

:rotfl: You should see my computer room right now. Lets just say that there isn't alot of floor space. ;) My DH just shakes his head, rolls his eyes and says we've got to get "this" cleaned up. My reaction is complete horror at the thought, never mind the insult of calling my precious suitcases and packing a mess. :scared1: :rotfl2: Needless to say we supply a lot of entertainment for the kids. :)

I thought pull-ups in the Oceaneers club was a big no-no

I think it is a no-no. I wouldn't worry about it too much. When we went on DCL in 2004 my youngest was then 3 1/2 and potty trained, but he did have an accident one time. We were just finishing up our Palo brunch when we got paged that he had an accident and to come pick him up. He evidentally had a #2 accident, but they did clean him up and he was in an oversized t-shirt and underwear that I assumed where extra. Anyway, we picked him up and we could have brought him back after he changed in his clothes but we went to the pool instead. That being said we were very surprised he even had an accident let alone that kind of one because he just never did. I think it was a case of him being shy to ask to go to the bathroom. Also, the CM's in the kids club were awesome about it!
