Good day all....I’d say ‘Happy Monday’ – but, this would get me flogged.

Bigben (Mike) and d’Isigny (Kevin) would like you thank you for your patience during our ‘mock political campaign’. Hope each enjoyed us ‘poking fun at the other’. Guess I wonder how many people we scared off.... Our goal was to spark an interest in visiting and participating on our Yahoo Groups web site. And....it worked. Since February 1st....5 new members have joined...bringing our total membership to 22 – this is FANTASTIC!!!
For those that have not yet ventured over...we hope you request an invite and take a look. Below is a link that will message my work and home ISP – all I need is your e-mail address to process your invite.

Yahoo Groups offers a fabulous free service we can take full advantage of. This will not replace The DIS for posting ideas, suggestions and general conversation (OK – helping each pass the time prior to our dream cruise). Yahoo groups will allow us to share files (word, excel, power point), conduct polls (vote; on our group name, location and day of our on-board DIS meet), share links (useful Internet resources that have benefited you) and post photos (show off your good looking family – see Bigben in a tutu...etc). Guess after that last 'jab'...Bigben has a free shot at me - go ahead, my friend...go ahead.

Hello fellow cruisers...

Just got a update on the cruise from a friend at work who just got back from the 7 night Eastern on Saturday. He thought I was crazy before he left when I was asking him all sorts of questions and telling him things I've been researching - he was a first time cruiser. He was somewhat non-chalont about the whole thing. Not so on his first day back. He's been grinning from ear to ear and informed me he booked his next cruise on board. He used the word "awesome" at least 5 times. This October will be our first cruise as well, but the best thing is I now have all the Personal Navigators for the cruise!!! (insert evil laugh here)

Cindrla, we actually live in Perry Hall. We are neighbors! We will have to give each other a heads up with airfare. I'm still up in the air as to when we will fly out on Friday. I might have DD attend school that day then we fly South in the evening.

In fact I wanted to ask the group how many school days are your children missing for this cruise? DD will be a fourth grader missing 4 or 5 days of school. I'm starting to feel guilty about it.

I did my Dis-er duty and voted!

DS 8, who will be in the third grade will be missing the full 5 days. We will fly into Orlando late on friday so he will not miss school that day. We usually take a week in October. So far, his teachers have been great about it. I know as he gets older, we'll have to bite the bullet and vacation when school is out and it's more expensive.

Our DD's are on fall break the week we cruise. We are pulling them out the week before to enjoy WDW --- without becoming 'the tour commando family'. Two of those are parent teacher conference days...so, DD's will only miss four full days. For us, school is very important (period)...but we feel the experiences fully outweigh the time missed. Nan is very active with the school...she volunteers 8-10 hours per week - sometimes more. She will network with our DD's teachers from the first day of school - requesting; extra credit, homework they'll miss to work on in the condo/plane. Last time we did this, my oldest DD's teacher had her do an oral report about the islands visited.

FYI - this is a 'very sensitive' topic on the general cruise thread...I made a similar comment about six moths ago – man, did I get flamed.

Ladies and Gentlemen, We at Cruis-A-Palooza have somethign very important to say...

We will be dropping out of the race. We concide the election to Dis-Toberfest. We have to cancel our run at the prize.

Yes if you havn't figured it out by now we won't be able to cruise with you in October. I am very sad about this having met some really nice people and made friends here. I know that everyone here will trun the Magic upsidedown . The reason we have to change our cruise is... my wife is pregnant with our 3rd child and will be due around the time of our cruise.

I keep tring to talk her into going and maybe she'll have the kid on-board the ship and we could name the child Magic. She didn't go for that, I don't know why .

I will be checking in here still just to keep things on the up & up(Kevin) .
I've had a blast and I'm going to sad that this year I won't be able to meet you guys this year.

I'm thinking of having DD attend school the Friday before (will miss 4 days/teacher conference 10/19) and stay at the Hyatt the night before. Snicksed I've read your post about Hotwire I might go for this. How about you? d'Isigny I totally agree with you. My DD is a good student. I remember how hot that thread was.

stay at the Hyatt the night before. Snicksed I've read your post about Hotwire I might go for this.

Steve/Cathy...if there is 'some talk' about a reasonable rate at the Orlando Hyatt...I'd love a link to this info. Flights from the west coast appear cheaper on a friday over a saturday (figure that one out). If it's worth while...we might take a late afternoon/early evening flight with a stay at the Hyatt...getting up early to 'see Mickey'.

d'Isigny I totally agree with you. My DD is a good student. I remember how hot that thread was.
