October 11, 2014 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic (San Juan)

There is a very very very good possibility that DCL will be releasing a repo cruise from San Juan on 10/18/14 to Port Canaveral. It will be a 3-night cruise that will either be all sea days or have a day at Castaway Cay.

We are going to book it! I'd love the Magic to take us back to PC rather than a airplane!!!!

Just an FYI for those interested.....

Interesting!! Always looking for a way to sneak a few days in at WDW!!

Interesting...let us know when it's going to be ready for booking.

we also contacted our TA to add the three night repo to our cruise. That's a great 10 night itinerary! :cool1:

My TA told me it will be bookable June 18th. I've already sent in our request ;)

We emailed our TA last night. She phoned DCL and was told it can be booked from the 18th. She will contact them again then and book this for us, hopefully in the same stateroom so we won't have to move.

I wonder why they have decided to offer this repositioning cruise now the Magic is going from San Juan to Port Canaveral, when they didn't offer one from San Juan to Miami?

As I posted on another thread yesterday (sorry to repeat myself if you've already seen it), on 6 Jun 13 I e-mailed DCL as follows:

Good evening.
I have seen online that DCL is planning some changes to the Disney Magic's itineraries in Fall 2014.
We are booked on the last of the 4 Southern Caribbean cruises. I'd like to suggest that instead of returning to San Juan, this cruise should be extended and end in Port Canaveral.
I believe that the reason there was no 2-night San Juan to Miami repositioning cruise planned was because you cannot cruise from one US port to another US port without stopping in another country. However, if this cruise didn't go back into San Juan but went straight from St Kitts to Port Canaveral, that would comply with the regulations.
We would be more than happy to pay for an extra 1 or 2 nights onboard to have the convenience of returning to Port Canaveral, rather than effectively losing a full day by having to fly from San Juan to Orlando after the cruise. I'm sure many other passengers would too, as whatever their plans following the cruise, Orlando's transport options are so much better.
It would be appreciated if you could pass this suggestion to the relevant people.
Many thanks

On 10 Jun 13 I received the following reply:

Thank you so much for your email.

We appreciate your sharing your thoughts regarding our itinerary
options. We continuously evaluate our itinerary offerings based upon the
feedback we receive from our guests, and they still say that cruising
with us is not only about having that high-quality Disney experience but
also about going to new places and ports of call. I truly appreciate
your thoughts and suggestions about San Juan. Although I regret any
disappointment with the current schedule, please know that your feedback
about future itineraries is very important to us and your remarks will
be evaluated along with those received from other guests. We are truly
grateful for your valuable input.

Again, thank you so much for your e-mail. We look forward to welcoming
you aboard again in October 2014.

I thought this was a bit of an odd response because I hadn't expressed any disappointment, I was just making a suggestion. To be honest, I thought they haven't read it properly and this was the closest standard format reply they could find.

Yet now it seems they are doing pretty much what I suggested in my e-mail. :confused3

San Juan is an exception to the rule. They are allowed to go from San Juan to a US port. I don't think extending the cruise would work for everyone, so adding a 3-night repo is a great idea.

Also, the people that answer the emails probably only know a limited amount of info and are told how to delicately reply. I wonder if they thought you were disappointed in the fact that you would prefer a longer cruise and to end in PC??

None of it matters. I'm just happy they're adding the repo. :)

By the way, I've just started a meet thread for it. I'm nothing if not keen!

Oh so tempting....... I wish it could be priced out now. I think my hubby would kill me..... We will be going to Anaheim in Sept 2014 for a couple days for my work, then come home for a week ish & go on the cruise. I have the time off work, but he might not. Ugh...decisions. I'd love to wait & book it on board our cruise this october. If we are going to do it I want the same stateroom though. Wonder how popular it will be with those not on this cruise?

I think we're gonna add the repo cruise! Glad i have a couple of dummies to work with. We're currently in a 4B but I'm having our TA quote a 5C. I'd rather use the savings to go towards the repo. We don't need a 4, just wanted the extra space.

Updated......I called DCL & was able to get a price quote. $1623 for my family of 4 Category 9C

Okay, so I should stop reading this page, because now you got me thinking hmmm, should we add on the 3 nights.....so yes, I hate you all:rotfl2:....just kidding, but really... now here's the difficult part...2 more days of school missed....that's a tough one!

So I called DCL....thanks alot you guys, I blame the people who let us know this sort of info:thumbsup2!!!

the 4 of us in our same cat 4c $1989.88

cat 5c $1899.88

How do I bring this up to my husband....again, thanks for the dilemma;)

How much is the deposit for the repo?

Should be the same as other cruises. 20% unless you are using a dummy date that was an OBB, then it would be 10% or the difference between the 10% already paid for the OBB and what 10% would be for the repo.

I just booked the 10/18 repo cruise! Called DCL directly and had no problem; even kept our room. 2 adults in 5c is $1285; 20% deposit because we had no dummy to move. Some folks over on FB are saying their TAs aren't able to book until Jun 18 and some people have been told they have to wait even when they called DCL directly, but I had no problem. Yay for a longer cruise and for Castaway Cay! :cool1:

Same here. I called DCL & booked with no problem. No dummy date either

I was told by my TA and DCL that only those with bookings that were on a DCL changed cruise were able to book today. Apparently, my TA tried to change a dummy that was not a DCL changed cruise. But I do have one out there that is so I've got another email to my TA to request the change. Hope she gets it done today. Don't want to change rooms!

We're booked, and in the same stateroom. :cheer2:

Thank to the info given by other posters :flower3: I decided to give it a try and phone DCL direct. I said to the CM was that we were already booked on the last Southern Caribbean, had heard about the repo and would like to book it, preferably in the same stateroom. He didn't hesitate or question it at all, was very enthusiastic, accessed our SC booking for the details and it was all booked very quickly.

For those looking for prices, it's costing us 2A in a 5C, $1,285.94.
That's the full price, no OBB discount.

I've e-mailed our TA to confess what I've done and ask her to transfer the reservation. I do hope she understands, but I was getting twitchy that someone would jump into 'our' stateroom before DCL let her book it for us.

Well I am going to get a quote for the 3 night but not sure I will book. I told myself I wouldn't do the 3 nighters again. I'd be more compelled if it was 2 sea days...

Ok, off the phone with DCL early this afternoon...

Was told that they are booking for everyone on June 18th, regardless of your Castaway Club Member level.
Wouldn't let me book (add on to our 7 nighter) but gave me pricing:

For our Cat. 5B stateroom it's going to cost $1,315.94 per room. (2 adults)

For Cat. 9D, (other family members - 2 adults, 2 children), it's going to cost $1,506.88.

So I think final cost for the 10 days of cruising for me comes to $4,674.00, which is about $467/day.
Not sure if hubby would be willing to spend the extra money or time off of work, but I'm game!
Would love it if our TA could just add this cruise on to our 7 nighter and not have us pay another deposit. Then we can decide next year if we can do it or not... but we'll have the same stateroom!
