October 11, 2014 7-Night Southern Caribbean Cruise on Disney Magic (San Juan)

I was told I could not book either. And when I told her I knew of other people who were booked the CM told me that the people who booked were not really booked for this cruise!!!! How is that possible?!?!?

We finally got booked! It was a transfer of a dummy booking so with the OBB discount, it came to $1732.48 for 2A/2C (15,8 )in a 5c. Got the same room and late dining! This will be a great way to end the trip :-)

My TA was told the same thing. No booking for me until Tues either. Boo.

Well I am going to get a quote for the 3 night but not sure I will book. I told myself I wouldn't do the 3 nighters again. I'd be more compelled if it was 2 sea days...

I'm with you that I don't think I could do a 3 nighter. We did a 4 nighter and that was not long enough....but I think this is an exception. Because you are already on the ship, it almost seems like it would be like having a short port day in San Juan then the conclusion to a 10 nighter (assuming you are in the same stateroom therefore not having to move, lol!)

Right! We will see...

We're booked. Staying in same room.

From what I heard......a few DCL reps were allowed to book this cruise for those folks bumped off the 2 nighter. It was/is luck wether you get one of these when you called.

My TA called twice and got no joy. I called and made the booking, deposit paid, rezzie number etc. Once I had the rezzie number my TA was able to call back in, talk to a supervisor and get the rezzie transferred back to her.

Cat-T, 2A, ins, tax - $2429

:cool1:

I called today, no luck booking, but was able to get the price for our 7A for 2 adults $1,189.94.

No booking for us either but our TA got pricing:

2 adults 1 child (7) in 7A category is currently pricing at 1478.91

So, spent a loooong afternoon with DCL reservations and was, at first, able to get confirmed ressie for 7A on the repositioning, but was cut off (thanks Sprint!) before I could give a deposit. Called back and was told by CM#2 the same story that most everyone is being told...not on sale till 18th. Fast forward past heated discussion and helpful CM#1 calls me asking if anyone called me from DCL to tell me they had to CANCEL MY RESERVATION because the cruise isnt for sale until 18th. I said no, and after many apologies, bittom line is that even though i was able to get a confirmed ressie (with email, res #, and all) I DO NOT have a reservation on the repos cruise and I will have to try again on Tuesday. Ugh!

For those who have successfully booked the repo cruise who are also on the Southern Caribbean cruise, could you please help me out with something?

I've just noticed that the taxes on my 3-night repo booking ($193.94) are showing considerably higher than those on my 7-night SC booking ($152.44).
:confused3

I'm wondering if pre-paid gratuities have been added to the repo. The CM didn't mention it when I made the booking and it's not shown as that on the confirmation - the breakdown is simply "Voyage Fare" and "Government Taxes & Fees". But it's the only reason I can think of as to why a shorter cruise should cost more in taxes.

I haven't been called by DCL to cancel my reservation but I can't access it online - it's listed twice but both links lead to an error message. I thought that might be because it's in the process of being linked to my TA, which I believe they won't do until the 18th. But I have just checked my credit card account and they've taken the deposit so as far as I'm concerned, I now have a contract with them.

Hopefully everyone will get sorted out successfully tomorrow. I know it's probably easier said than done, but I do think DCL should have given existing cruisers on the final Southern Caribbean some measure of priority for booking the repo for at least a couple of days so that they could stay in the same stateroom.

I can't think of many people that are going to jump to book the repo other than us. I doubt many people are going to fly to San Juan for a 3-night cruise. Now, if I lived in Puerto Rico and was planning a fall trip to Florida or WDW, I can see maybe booking it. Other than that, I think it only going to be popular with us.

I'm THRILLED. I knew this port intensive southern was going to be busy, as we want to visit and tour each port. Now, the repo gives us another sea day and a CC day to RELAX and unwind. Plus, I'm sure not all of us will book it, so I expect the ship to have less guests, too....

Ahhhhh.......

Good to know, it wasn't in the sticky list of cruise threads. I don't believe there was a FB group by the number of people who quickly joined the one I made.

Could port fees be included in this and SJ be higher than PC possibly? :confused3

I will b reserving the 3 night tomorrow. Hopefully same room. Just in case we stay with this cruise.

I've just looked at the DCL site to see if the new itineraries are showing yet but got this message:

DisneyCruiseLine.com is currently undergoing maintenance.

Currently, we're making things even better at DisneyCruiseLine.com, so please be sure to check back here soon. We appreciate your patience and look forward to sailing with you soon.
