We are not going to Disney this fall, but we do often go in October. With all of the party dates, and not wanting to do MK on a Saturday, we really looked forward to Wednesday's Evening Magic Hours. Yes, it was crowded because of the limited opportunity for the non-party goers to see the nighttime stuff. But, we would spend the day at another park and hop over to MK later. Back in the day, the EMH used to be 3 hours and extend to 2 a.m, and those are among my favorite Disney memories of all time.
If they go away, it's truly a shame. Because of the cost, I honestly do not see us ever doing the paid After Hours event. Maybe when the kids are gone we can justify it. But, then again, having kids (or grand-kids in the future) there with you is the whole purpose of Disney, isn't it? I realize times change, but Evening Magic Hours (the free variety) was one of those things that truly helped me become the Disney fan I am. Morning EMH do nothing for me. They are just an hour, require getting up earlier, and Magic Kingdom just seems to be infinitely more 'magical' at night.
