Awesome pics Greg:thumbsup2

DL is only about 4 hours away from us, so it's nice and easy to get to. However, it is very expensive. We really like staying in the DL hotel but they have gotten out of hand with their pricing. We'll see if they have any specials. We are going on the Disney Wonder for a 2 night cruise in January so if we don't get to DL in Dec we will at least get out Disney fix in January.

I used to think that Christmas was the best time to go to WDW but after being there for Halloween and the Food and Wine Festival, it's a toss up. I didn't expect to like it as much as I did and that was with record high heat and humidity in Oct.

Christine, i agree that staying in DL hotel is very expensive. That's why when my DH and i go there (2 hours flight from Seattle) we usually stay in the Embassy Suites... Free Breakfast so it's not bad at all :goodvibes

4 hours driving is awesome!!! i wish i lived that close :) Now you reminded me of Halloween - i had completely forgotten! And you are absolutely right! I love Halloween at DL! Specially the Haunted Mansion. It is great! I heard they don't do that in WDW, which is sad as we will all be there next year around halloween right?

Anyway, I hope all of you are well today!

Cheers!:cheer2:

PS: uh-oh - mean lady with a whip?? I'm getting scared :rotfl2:

Hi nanaheads! It's been a while. We weren't sure for a while we were actually going to be able to cruise and it was too hard to think about. Now we are go again and I am getting into planning mode.

Can I ask the veteran cruisers a few questions?

1. Are the kids programs an extra cost, or are they included?
2. Do you eat breakfast on board the morning you disembark?
3. Is it worth it to do an excursion in Nassau, or as a first-timer are we better off just enjoying the ship's facilities?

Glad to be checking in. Only 390 days to go!

Welcome back :goodvibes
1. Kids clubs and activities are free!!
2. yes they will have breakfast the last morning. Time and restaurant will be assigned to you and your wait staff will let you know at dinner the last night
3. Thats totally up to you. Once you get away from the port area Nassau has some beautiful areas. Depends on what you might be interested in?

I usually dont care for aquariums but I love the one at Atlantis. The tour goes quickly but you can go back through at your own pace as many times as you want. Just show the bracelet they put on your arm.

The Pirate museum (walking distance from the ship) is very good. Well worht the money. Allow about an hour to go through it.

The 2 hour historical city tour was good too. We saw Queen Annes staircase and 2 forts. One fort was still in great shape and we had a guided tour of it.

Plenty of good deals at the shops too if your a shopper.

Many people do stay on board the ship so the pools are more crowded than you think. Me, I figure if i spend the money and time to go somewhere i am getting off the ship to see it. I have CC for a beach or pool day.

Good luck deciding!!

Kathy

Ana, I can be a very mean lady and I have 4 whips to do my bidding. Just ask any seasoned Bananahead:rolleyes1
Mutt has been in the dog house so I sent him all 4 whips to get him to post and it worked! ;)
As long as you post regularly you have nothing to fear.;)

My whips are trained to go after the slackers who dont post.:scared1:

Those shore excursions sound neat. I figured the same thing about CC being a beach day, but it seemed like most of the excursions were about the waterpark and beach. The ones you mention sound unique.

The morning we disembark is my DD's 8th birthday. Do you think there's any chance of getting a cake at breakfast?

Ana, here is one of my mean lady whips!! You can see how mean she is.
Just dont ask where I found here. Her name is Sexie Sadie.

This guy is part Schwartznegger, Stalone, Willis, and the Hit Man.
You dont want him to hunt you down to get you to post. He is the final warning. Look at those shifty eyes!!

I would go for the night before. The last morning everything is very rushed. It would probably get forgotton. Plus there is usually leftover cake and you cant take it with you so the extra evening is best so you can nibble on the leftovers.

I dont think they would even do it the last morning? Never seen that before.

Hi Princess Sleepy,

When i went to the DCL website and registered my cruise they have the option of customizing your trip with different kind of gifts and treats they deliver to your cabin... Although they said you have to be closer to your trip date to customize your trip. I was thinking in getting the "Welcome" tray with those yummy strawberries and the little chocolate ship and Sparkling Cider. It's a little expensive but i think it would be worth it. Now since this will be my first DCL trip i am not experienced and the people here could give you better information about the cake. But it is worth checking the website out and registering your cruise trip. If you already have a login for the Disney.com website then you don't have to register again...

I hope it helps...

My husband and i were also discussing what to do in such a short period of time. The side excursions seems all so good we are having a hard time choosing.. Thanks for the tips, Kathy!

HAHA OMG Those are hilarious!!! Specially the Sexy Sadie!!! Loved It!! :rotfl2:

Thanks for the ideas. It's hard to know what to do. I want to celebrate someway on her actual birthday, but I might have to do it early.

Well, after a great month, I'm back and happy to say that the deposit has been paid and we are officially going with you guys on this cruise.

OMG Kathy!!! It was AMAZING!!!:cloud9: The weather was the most beautiful we have had in probably about 10 years! It was cold, but that new camper we had and the new heater kept us nice and toasty all week long. :thumbsup2 Set up (what I am in charge of) went off without a hitch and we were finished with my part of it on Saturday night and Sunday just had to raise the roofs into the air, and we pay a college group to come out and raise them, so we had nothing really to do but "put out fires" on Sunday. It was so wonderful! :woohoo: It was more than I could have asked for. The only major issues we had were being under a county wide fire ban (we had an exemption for the Feast) and we had some "heavy dew" :rotfl: falling on Saturday morning, but it didn't seem to stop the crowds from coming! (We don't say the "r" word around Feast time at our house. :lmao:)

All in all, it couldn't have been a more perfect weekend for the most part. :goodvibes If you wanna know about more, just lemme know. I don't wanna bore anyone.

On a slightly sadder note, we came home to find our cat deathly ill late Sunday night and he passed today. :sad1: DD took it rather hard, but I think she is starting to accept it...

Morgan thats great the weather held out for you this year. No mud baths this time :lmao:
Sorry to hear about your cat. Hope he had a good long life.

My dog Pixie gave me a scare yesterday. When we got up she had some tufts of hair standing out like there might be a bump under the fur. I didnt find anything but at first there was maybe 15 to 20 of them, then an hour later that was doubled, then tripled. Soon her who body had these tufts of hair standing up.
If I hadnt been so worried I would have laughed at how she looked. Poor baby had a big lump on her nose between her eyes and above one eye too. I thought about bug bites but she does have on flea protection.

I called the vet early and took her in. Turns out she has hives. It only took 2 pills and today she looks normal again.
vet said it could have been something she ate or brushed against out in the field where she plays or it could be from nerves.
She is half greyhound which is a skiddish type of dog and they get hives alot from nerves. Now we know what it is it wont scare me and i know what to give her.
Crazy dog!!!

Kathy

Happy wednesday everyone,

well its in the 40's again this morning. I am sitting here with a throw blanket around me. It has a snowman decoration on it. Hope I am not tempting fate by wearing a snowman this early in the season.:lmao:

We are suppose to hit 70 today, so we shall see.

No plans around here today. Just going to relax a bit i guess, maybe do a load of laundry.
Will check in around my lunch time today.

Denise, are you surviving ok??

Glad Pixie is alright! I didn't know dogs could get hives?

Not much going on here today. Now that we've got our cruise docs for our Mediterranean cruise I've started booking hotels for our post cruise trip. The excitement is building! :woohoo:

Hi Greg,

I didnt know they could get hives either but apparently for skiddish or more nervous breeds it is quite common.

After the Docs arrive the excitement always picks up!!! I am excited for you guys too, cant wait to see the camel rides and doing the walk like an egyptian dance.

You have to share those photos and video!!!!
Kathy

Lunch time and still no new posts??

Come on Bananaheads I need some company here today.
Just because your all at work doesnt mean you cant sneak onto a computer at your break time. I promise I wont tell the boss.:rolleyes1

The sun has come out and it is warming up. We may have a nice afternoon after all,

BACK THIS EVENING, LETS SEE SOME POSTS BY THEN!!
Kathy

Hi Everyone!

Kathy, i am so relieved to know the little one is okay. That's the first i've heard of dogs having hives. Now my dog has been leaping on his front left leg. We think he must have some sort of arthritis or something. He is getting old for a Rottweiller - 9 years old. We will take him to the Vet this Saturday. It's weird, it usually gets worse at night, after he wakes up from his afternoon nap. Hopefully it will go away soon... poor guy!

Greg, i am so happy you got your docs for the Mediterranean trip. I've done one with Royal Caribbean and i simply loved it. You will have so much fun! Like Kathy said, please post some pics...

Morgan,my name is Ana. Nice to meet you! I think this is the first time i've seen a post from you... (i am fairly new here!).

Anyway, it has been a beautiful and cold week here in Seattle. It is so nice out! I love a sunny cold day! Something cozy about that :)

Anyway, i hope everyone is well and i hope to talk to you guys soon!

Cheers!

Hi Ana,

Hope your dog will be ok too. Arthritis is really common and they do have meds to help with it. Minnie is only 5 but she gets it in her hips and back legs sometimes in the winter. She has had problems since she was 1 year old with it.
So I am sure if thats your dogs problem they will be able to help him. Please let us know what the vet says.

Kathy
