There are so many areas of the Terminal I MISSED or Didn't recall after our first trip (like walking through Mouse Ears to board!!) We arrived on a DCL bus from one of the parks, so walked into the terminal, checked in and boarded right away.
Then I found the dis boards prior to our 2nd trip, and for that one, I found lots of things, the ship model, the characters, the islands in the floor, the building disign, the tvs and sofas.

But alas, even still I have discovered I've missed some things. Like how you can look out the window at the end of the terminal and see the Ship! Or step out onto a balcony from a door? by those windows and take pictures with the ship up close in the background! Those are what I"m going to look for a take pictures of this time around. I wonder what else I"ve missed? LOL

There is SO much to take in, just being there and about to board a Dream Vacation, is SOOOOOO thrilling!! And most thriling is watching the faces of kids (though I think last trip, I was the most excited in our whole group, oh except for Tim who deemed my lime green mickey Stick a Magic Wand and wanted to carry it everywhere in the terminal)

Another Question of the Day, but this one is for the ladies

What style outfit do you plan to wear for Formal Night?
Summer Shopping season is upon us here and the sales will start before mid summer to make room for the fall winter items.

Do any of you plan to wear floor lenght gowns? Cocktail style dress, or a dressy pant suit? I'm not too much into dresses anymore, and thus have NO dresses in my closet ect. for a beach dress. I dont' know what to buy! But I'll have fun doing it! :)

Most likely a dressy pant suit.....I have a few long gowns which I love (very packable) but unfortunately they don't fit anymore!!! So unless I can drop 25 lbs. before we go then the pant suit it is!!!

It took me 18 DCL cruises to get this shot......

I was always so busy looking at the back of the terminal that I did not even notice this beautiful window looking towards the front of the terminal.

If I can fit into my formal I will wear it but I must loss some weight for that to happen. If not I will wear whatever I can fit trying not to buy new for this cruise. Want the money to spend while gone.

Janet and I will try to get to the port early for the 10/23 cruise and will be on board watching everyone from the 10/30 join us on board. Lois

I wish I could afford to add my mother to this cruise. My grandmother passed away on Tuesday. My mom had been caring for her and there was no way she could go away with us for 9 days. Now, she has no reason to stay at home. I looked into upgrading to a Cat. 4 and it was nearly double the price of what we are paying for a Cat 6 for all 4 of us. A cat. 11 is possibility, but still money I don't have since I didn't budget this year for a fifth person. :sad1:

So sorry to hear about your G'ma passing away.....have you tried to book your mom in a Cat 11 yet as a single? Maybe even a Cat 12 will open up before the cruise.

Just be aware that if she goes as a single in a cabin....her fare will be subject to the single supplement....meaning she is not paying just one cruise fare but 3/4 of another fare as well.....this is from the DCL website...

Single Occupancy Rates
Single occupancy fares are available upon request, subject to availability. Guests booking categories 4 through 12 will be charged 175% of the package price. Guests booking categories 1 through 3 will be charged 200% of the package price.

I actually just checked the DCL website and for 1 person in the Cat 11 (only side available as of today) it would be $1997.00.

Yikes, I don't know!! I have a couple of dresses but if it is to be long, it won't be super dressy, if you know what I mean, maybe a halter maxi dress rather than a ballgown style. Is there just one formal night to think about?

I will probably wear a full length, formal gown, and have my men in Tuxes. :cloud9: I LOVE to REALLY dress up, and when do I ever have the chance, other than an occasional black tie wedding or this cruise? I plan to take full advantage of it! :goodvibes

I'm shopping for a long gown. Once I find the perfect one I can convince DH that we need to start going to the Navy Balls too! :goodvibes

Cocktail dress. We don't go too fancy, just nice enough for a formal picture. The boys in shirts and ties, no jackets. And it doesn't take them long to lose the ties after dinner. :lmao: Thankfully DCL is really a fairly laid back, casual cruise line. I couldn't believe how much dressier everyone got on RCCL.
On DCL it runs the gamut, tuxes, gowns right on down to cruise casual is what you will find on the formal and semi-formal nights.

kristieuk, there are two formal nights.. The first is Formal (Monday I think) and the second is Semi-Formal (Thursday). Attire is usually similar on both nights.

We both plan to wear long dresses!!

long dresses for both my mom and I here.

I actually have the same dress in two different colours so I'll wear the black on formal night and the brown one for the semi formal night. They are long but pretty simple. They are also a very soft and flow-y kind of material so they are no stiffly formal.

My mom is more colourful than I - she has a formal pink sparkly dress and a robin egg blue long dress (like mine).

My Dad got a tux for $140 when Sid Silvers was going out of business (2 pairs of pants, a shirt, a tie, a vest, and a jacket - including having them fit - it was a great deal, better than any suit we could find).

My 1 rule for formal wear is that it is comfortable. I don't want to run back to the cabin immediately after dinner because I just have to change.

Old Town Trolley is the one that goes all around Key West and lets you get on and off at different stops as you wish. Here is their site: http://www.trolleytours.com/key-west/ . :thumbsup2
Thank you so much for that link!!!! This is the trolly tour I was thinking about. The 'train' looks like fun but I think I would prefer a tour where you can get on and off and sight-see/shop a bit at your leisure...

As per formal wear, DH will be in a suit and I will have to see if my formal still fits... If not then I will be in a cocktail dress.

Well, not a lady, but I can answer for my wife since I know how she feels about dressing up on vacation. She packs a black cocktail dress and I usually wear a suit. No tuxes and gowns, we like to pack light.

You are so very Lucky to have such sweet and thoughtful daughters. I can't wait to meet them and the special baby that the love so much. That is really a special gift for teens to be able to think about somebody besides themselves. They will go far in life. Welcome to our thread.

:welcome: SARGE219 :welcome:

What a wonderful way to celebrate 20 years! Sounds like you have some very thoughtful kids! DH and myself had our 20th Anniversary last month but are also celebrating on board this fall. First Cruise for you? You are going to absolutely LOVE it! :wizard:

Sarge, be sure to check out the 1st page of this thread as there is tons of info on all that the DIS Group has planned. A bunch of us are doing Captain Marvins tour in Grand Cayman, and the Nachi Cocom Beach day in Cozumel. There are links to more details about these excursions on that first page, if you are interested. :)
