Well I just got confirmation from Capt Marvin that we are all set with our reservation and are linked up with the Baggott group!!!! Now I am just waiting on confirmation on Nachi (I sent it in last night)

So what is everyone doing in Key West? There doesn't seem to be too many trips that you can do with a 5 & 7 yr olds plus it is Halloween. I am thinking that we may just take the trolly around that you can get on & off whenever... I assume this is something we don't book ahead of time but I really don't know?

last time we were in Key West it was a last minute change in plans as the Magic couldn't stop at Grand Cayman. We just got on the Trolly that day - so I assume it is the same . . . :confused3

Great news about all the Nachi confirmations! We're at 51 with more still mulling it over. I'm now keeping track of the Nachi numbers on page one of the board. So look there for updates on who is going as I hear about them. :)

We are confirmed for NC!!

eyes4mickey- I DO remember you were on that EDC cruise we were on- but I can't remember if we met or not (I'm so sorry!). Were you at the meet? Can you tell me which one is your family in this pic to unstick my stuck memory? :goodvibes

At any rate, I am looking forward to seeing you again- or for the first time, whichever it may be!! I know the other 2 families on that last cruise that are booked on this one I never met- although we did all chat alot online prior to going. Hopefully will meet them on this one, too!! :thumbsup2

I have seen the "trolley" mentioned a couple of times..if it is in reference to the Conch Train Trolley Tours, we have done this and I can provide some insight. But to be sure we are all talking about the same thing:

KeyWest_ConchTrain.jpg

Now I know there may be another trolley tour and this is why I am asking, since maybe the other one operates differently.

However if it is in reference to the Conch Train, I just want to mention how this tour works. We went on it in 2006 and really enjoyed it. But it isn't a multiple stop get off wherever you want thing. It is a pretty structured sightseeing tour, and while it did make one stop where we could have "stayed behind" and caught a later train, this stop was only a few blocks from the end and in an area on Duval Street that we had already been at.

Here is the description from the website

The tour begins at the Front Street Depot and ends right behind it in Mallory Square. Once you have your ticket, climb on board and take your seat, as you are about to embark on a terrific 90-minute journey through time. During the tour, the train will make one loop through Old Town Key West. There are two stops, once at Station Depot, allowing for a 10 minute rest break where you will find refreshments and shopping. Bring your ice cream and home made fudge back on board to continue your tour. The second stop is at Flagler Station, for just a few minutes. The second stop is also where those who wish to can disembark to see the sights and choose to catch a later train.

Our opinions on the experience are that it is very pricey for what it is ($29/adult, $14/child), but that said we really, really enjoyed it and would do it again (and plan to!). For a 90 minute experience it moved quickly (sometimes too quickly as you fly by some points of interest with the vehicle not stopping) but never got boring(at least not to me). Don't plan on using this tour as an opportunity to stop and get photos at the Southernmost Point- ours drove by, but did not stop (and it is not listed as a stop in the route map) Most of the entire 90 minute experience is spent in the trolley. Our second stop (the one where we could have chosen to stay off and catch a later train) was at a rather large gift shop. We did enjoy buying chocolate covered key lime pie on a stick there (along with everyone else on the tour), but the stop was only about 20 mins long (not very long when all 50+ ppl ont he train are in line @ the cash register buying their pie). On our tour I don't believe anyone selected to stay behind and catch another train, and if you do this there has to be availability on later trains, plus it is only a one-way thing (you can only catch it where you left off and only experience the part of the tour you had not yet, so it isn't a get-off, get back on, get off again kind of thing). The trains depart every 30 minutes.

Lots of info @ the website including route map and pricing- there is a disount available if you purchase online in advance but it is only a couple of dollars. There are also bundle packages that include various museums and points of interest..see bundles here

They do offer group charters (LOL!) not sure if that costs extra. I'm sure we could set a time and all show up and take that train to have a DIS CONCH TRAIN TOUR;)

If anyone has specific questions, fire away. I do have pics somewhere but they are mostly of the "sights" you get to see.

Anyway hope that info helps!! :)

We are confirmed for Nachi.
My kids are VERY excited at the thought of a treasure hun
t!
I just received our confirmation for Nachi too!!!! :cool1: The treasure hunt sounds like fun and I know my kids would love to be a part of it. I live in a rural area so I am not sure what I could bring for it but I would certainly be willing to help out with whatever I can or send money...

Thanks for the offer to assist with the treaure hunt at Nachi! -- threeiscrazy, eyes4mickey and tjbaggott have also expressed an interest in helping. Just send me a PM if anyone else out there who is going to Nachi wants to help with the pirate hunt. tjbaggott (Judy) is going to be in charge of getting the buried treasure all together so PM her if you want to contribute to that effort! We also need someone to help devise the clues and activities (11 activities total) as we plan on giving the kids a rolled up clue that they have to solve before they move on to the next one. DIssers sitting the lounge chairs watching the hunt might be called upon to be a "keeper of a clue." PM me if you'd be interested in helping with that. We've got a few thoughts about activities that little ones can do to expend lots of energy but we need more ideas! I also ordered pirate bandanas (pink for girls, black for boys) for all the children in our group even those not participating due to age (we're thinking it best to keep the hunt for the 10 and under kids) or kids who aren't interested in participating. Thought it would make for a good kids photo op for our time at Nachi, plus Oriental Trading had those bandanas for cheap! I plan on giving out any extras as FEs! So keep the secret!

All this will be super fun and easy cheesy!

What a great hubby I have......he flew to Florida to help a good friend fix up his newly bought house on the Banana River in Cocoa Beach....been working his tail off for four days and since I knew the Wonder was in Port today I suggested they go to Grill's for dinner and watch the Wonder come down the channel (our friend and his wife our joining us on our DCL Alaska cruise next summer)....never expecting them to actually do it!!! With so many places to eat and their busy schedule I expected them to go somewhere else......much to my delight hubby just sent me a pic of him at Grill's....they are eating there and waiting for the Wonder to come down the channel....all because he knows how much I am obsessed with DCL!!!! I am sure the Tiki bar helps a bit as well!! LOL!!! Wish I was there!!!

I think the kids should all have a SANDCASTLE Build as one of their activities to earn the next clue. All would have to co-operate and use their imaginations. Great team work I think!

Our Nachi excursion has been confirmed, printed and filed in our document bag. We are now ready for our day at the beach. Looks like this will be a great group.

We are traveling without children, but seems to be a perfect situation for the family groups. Plenty of responsible adults there with your best interests at heart to allow all to have a great day and keep an eye on the kids without them feeling like they can't move. Sounds kinda' like Disney pixiedust: to me

No, we didn't meet. I never made it to the the meet, first cruise and the lifeboat drill got us all mixed up with the time. We missed it. :(

I hang your ornament on our tree at Christmas and think of the cruise. I feel like we met with all of the Dischat.

I'll make sure we do this time.

Ok...now it's all coming back to me! There were a few people who didn't make the meet- all of them are going on this cruise, I think!! :rotfl: So we get a BIG re-do!! :goodvibes :thumbsup2 Well, I am REALLY looking forward to meeting you this time- and I am honored you hang the ornament on your tree! AT the very least, we will DEFINITELY see each other at Nachi, right? :thumbsup2 For all we know, our sons already met on the last cruise- were your kids in the clubs alot last time? Timmy came and went- he was 9, but Tyler wanted to LIVE in Ocean Quest- he cried hysterically when he realized the cruise was nearly over because he had so much fun in there with the other boys- he was 11. They are both looking forward to it all again so much, and this time will be cool because they will be together- can't wait for dodgeball!
