That is one crazy story. So glad it turned out al right. You hear so many stories of what can happen in a flash flood.

When I was a kid, my family did a cross country trip in 1964. While in Colorado, we escaped just before flash floods hit the area. I remember watching the news that night in a hotel room and seeing cars floating down a street thinking that could have been us.

I know that Knewton is the great story teller of our group ........ so hope fully it can do it justice...

I start down my road towards work and there is standing water i call my hubby and say i thinkmaybe i should turn around....
BUT i wait....
And i wait too long
Ahead of me is a massive MASSIVE amount of water....Cars literally FLOATING down the rest of the street....People behind me stop ...the road is 4 lanes widenand about 6 cars deep in those 4 lanes.....Just dead stopped at the edge of this massive river in the middle of the road i noramly drive on for work...

THERE is 2 cars in front of floating and 2 cars on the opposoite side floating...Why do i not just turn around there is a curb to my immediate left i see 2 larger vans get over the curb so i tell DH who i am on the phone with that i am goign to try to go over curb at which time a CITY bus gets stuck going over the curb blocking several lanes in both directions....

IT IS POURING...heavier rain than i have ever seen

OMG that is QUITE an experience!!! What a MESS!!!:crazy2:

So glad you are OK! And good for you for getting everybody to turn around so you guys could get out of there!!

:boat:

I just couldnt see sitting there and sitting there.......i am sure everyone else was eithe wondering what to do or wishing they knew what to do.

And i HATE wasting time.

Not very good it was rainign and i was trying not to getphone to wet and itwas my phone which makes it that much worse.

This is not something to take lightly. A few years ago Vikki was caught in one. She thought the road she was driving on was paved. It was between two streets in a finished development. She was a reporter covering the flood. The next thing she knew the water was too deep and had to be rescued by the fire department.:scared1:

On a lighter note: We are staying at BLT a few days before the cruise, any one else?

Now that Vikki and I are home sick:sick:, we are catching up on our DVR and sleep.

Happy Holidays to all

I'm sitting here watching the snow fall. So far we've gotten 12 inches and it's still coming down. The Army base has closed and ordered all traffic to 'CEASE'.
The kids are enjoying the snow as we haven't lived anywhere near snow their entire lives.

Where did you relocate from?

My family will be heading to Williamsburg next weekend for new years eve. I say we make the extra 11 drive to WDW but I was out voted:laughing:

Well off the to light the fireplace, turn on the rotating christmas tree (AKA the disney tree), and watch the travel channel that has the season of disney on.

My husband is in the Navy and we relocated from Charleston SC where we would go to the beach and look for shells every Christmas Eve.

Enjoy Williamsburg. Will you be going to Busch Gardens while you are there? They have a big holiday show going on.

Dizzi- wow, you definitely did that story justice!! So glad you made it safely home!! We are also getting snow here- it is so cold outside (24 degrees, and that was when the sun was shining!) so the snow is the light, fluffy, sparkly kind....so pretty for Christmas! :goodvibes We are supposed to get 6 to 12 inches.

My family lives up north and they are enjoying the snow this weekend.

I am not big on the snow but i am enjoying wearing a sweatshirt as i christmas shop today.

Have a great weekend.

I was just going through some receipts ion my purse making sure i didnt throw away any christmas ones and i found the receipt from PArty City where i purchased most of the clearance items for our DIS TOT and although i only spent $30..........My savings was $118.52

IS THAT CRAZY OR WHAT????

Shows you how much they can mark tht stuff up.

When all the holiday things are over and the dust has settled i will start back into working on things for the cruise.

Heading to Target have 3 things to get and will be done!

Is that you???

I looked at the list and only one i see from ST LOUIS!

Lynn, you must be the one talking to my wife on FB. This world just got a lot smaller if you are related to a few friends of mine. :thumbsup2

....I gotta ask.

Ok.....what's inside Sleeping Beauty's castle?? Is there a 1-bedroom suite room in there? Security room as well?? I dunno:confused:.

Reason for the asking is I am heading out to DL in a few weeks (see below trip report) & I am wondering if that's one of the places we are going to seepopcorn::

Any responses would be greatly appreciated:goodvibes

Thanks!

I haven't been there since I was 16. It's a much smaller castle than Cinderella's Castle at the World. I remember a walking tour through it where you saw some really pretty stained glass windows that told the story of Sleeping Beauty as you walked through. I remember stairs and and alot of stone.

They didn't have a suite then (at least not one they told anyone about!). I think the Disneyland apartment (Walt's apartment) is located in the town, I think over the Fire Station? I remember watching a show on Disney Travel Channel On Demand (that's on Cablevision up here) about Disneyland mysteries and they talked about this. I think there was a suite built for the Year of a Million Dreams, but I think it is located in one of the Disneyland hotels, not in the actual park.

Ok......need to clarify. From another DISser's blog:

"...experience in the stretching room and then on to our doombuggies. This was great….no lines, no waiting. After the Haunted Mansion Quinn walked us into New Orleans square, gave us some Disney history and pointed out
some of the designs in the buildings. The next stop was well all I can say
was one of a millions dreams.
Quinn had arranged for a special treat for the group, but made us promise not to blog or write about it…and we agreed.
This was Grad night and the park was closing at 9pm, since it would over run from 11pm till 6am with noisy highschool grads.
It had been a day of thrills and memories, but it was time to ...."

So.....my question is:
Is there a place inside Disneyland (per the above paragraphed blog) that winners of the year of a million dreams were taken to??

What is it??

I am getting a wee bit curious.

Any responses would be appreciated.
