You know what Nenner i NEVER thought about smaller 1inched maternity pants that may work since we do plan on trying to have a kid after the cruise anyways we just cant now which all the pregant rules they have with u cant sail u are so many weeks. So good idea i may look into that and if it doesnt work i may just try to lose as much as i can by the end of august then shop if anything after the end of august the most im sure i could lose would be a size or 2 by october and if anything if i cant find anything in sept i can always try to shop in florida since we are down the week prior to the cruise im sure florida carries shorts year round right?? lol

:thumbsup2 I'm so glad that will work for you! I don't know what will still be available around here in October. Fall clothing is already showing up in stores.

But the statement is totally true. I don't know about the Tampa crew. (living/nenner), but when it hit 60F I was almost always in a sweater complaining about the cold. Now (inSTL), I wear shorts year round! Well, unless the temp are in single digits.

Yeah we are a bit of an anomaly around here. Everyone else is freezing in the 60's but that is still "nice" for us. It has to be in the 40's or below before I will lose the shorts. LOL. ;) Course I may wear a jacket with said shorts. Ha ha! :rotfl:

No problem, I've got her down! :goodvibes

Hi Everyone!

This cruise has sort of snuck up on our family :) We booked it on our last cruise in August 2008 and it was so far off, we didn't really worry about planning/organizing stuff back then. We were also just off an absolutely amazing cruise and were sort of on planning overload at that time. Life, as always, was busy and suddenly we are only a few months away from this trip!

Here is our basic info for the rollcall:

Who? - Pamela (I'm the one who posts here) - 45
Dan - 44 (His birthday is 2 days before we sail)
Darrah - 11 (He will be in 6th grade)
( From? ) We are from the Western Chicago suburbs
[ State Room Numbers ] 6600
Favorite Characters? Pamela - Cheshire Cat, Darrah - Mickey, (I'm not sure about Dan - probably a villain)
Dinner Seating = LATE
Celebrating? Nothing this time, we just miss Dan's birthday

We have spent 36 days on board the magic on prior cruises - unfortunately, that was only 4 cruises, so we are still "Silver" to DCL. We have been on 2 Westerns, 1 Eastern (should have been a Western, but it was the year of the hurricanes!) and the 15 day Eastbound Panama Canal transit in 2008.

We live in a 100 yo house and Dan's main hobbies are renovation projects and gardening. I love to read and play around with photography. Darrah is very into math, science & history, he loves video games & art - he also takes lessons in Karate, Fiddle & Irish Stepdancing.

I haven't read through the thread yet. We will probably join in on lots of group activities. We had a blast on the Panama trip with tons of DISers on board!

Looking forward to getting to know everyone. We have made friends with DIS folks on each of our past cruises!

Welcome! :flower3: Our group is huge as you can see from the roll call on page 1. So far, even just the chatting has been fun, so I think this is going to be a great cruise!

I can't believe how quickly the cruise is coming up!

At work I received a notice about another office needing assistance starting after labour day - they need help with training (9 weeks) and are looking for someone for the 3 week intervals - looking at the 3rd set, it was during our cruise!

I couldn't believe it. I mean labour day seems just around the corner (a month away basically) and then it's just a hop, skip and a jump until our cruise!

Honestly, I suddenly feel very unprepared. There is so much I don't know and so much I haven't bought yet! (clothes, shoes, sunscreen, camera batteries, etc).

I have a good start on my FE gifts (about 10 more individual gifts to go) and I've designed and printed my door magnets (need to laminate and attach magnets).

Looks it it's time to get down to some serious cruise business!

Hi Pamela!! We are on deck 6, too- in 6058. Our son, Timmy, turned 11 in April, and I'm sure our boys will have a blast playing together in Ocean Quest! Welcome aboard!

SO tomorrow night at midnight we are (many of us) logging in at midnight to book our stuff! :dance3: I am hosting a party tomorrow, it's a seafood feast that we have every year, clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, lobster, scallops, jambalaya, fish, a few sides....it is a SICK amount of food, and it goes on for hours. My biggest fear is that I will be SO exhausted from the party (40 people, including kids:scared1:) that I'll forget all about my midnight computer date! I think I may have to post signs around to remind myself!! :rotfl: Goodluck everyone on your bookings! pixiedust: Especially the one for Palo Brunch on Thursday morning at 11 am! :goodvibes

Welcome to our growing group of cruisers.

Lots of wonderful info to be found here, but I'm sure you have great tips to share with the rest of us. I always look forward to what other experienced travelers can teach me.

Are you near port the night before we sail? Working on a meet and greet dinner for any who are interested. Especially nice for the kids to meet a few people before we board. They are always so :yay: excited to spot their new friends when they arrive at the terminal.

My wife and I were just talking about this. We have had nothing going on the last few weeks. That's all about to change though. My cousin (from TX) sent me a text message about her coming to see the family in late Sept. As I was talking with my wife, I realized that once my son's football season starts (early Sept), there will be no time for anything or anyone for that matter. Even August is nuts! My nephew starts his football games. My son and my nephew both have birthdays on two different weekends. I think in August we have one weekend open. In addition, October is CRAZY! We leave after my son's game on the 23rd, but prior to that my sister is expecting her child to be born, a wedding, football, and PACKING. I can't believe we are likely going to have to start packing in September.

I am hosting a party tomorrow, it's a seafood feast that we have every year, clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, lobster, scallops, jambalaya, fish, a few sides....it is a SICK amount of food, and it goes on for hours.

One Word: Jealous!

Welcome Pamela!! I only have one question "Just what time do we need to be at your house to assist with eating this Sick amount of food!!" I love seafood and can't seem to cook it the way I like it. So I must pay the price and eat it out! Enjoy your party it sounds like a blast really wish I lived closer.

:welcome: aboard Pamela and family! We're happy to have you sailing with us!

So Ellen I'm guessing FOOD and BRUNCH and the like will be the last thing you'll be wanting to think of at Midnight Saturday! LOL!! It sounds scrumptious!!!

I have to work Saturday (morning, which is also tonight for normal folks) and normally I am out like a light by 10 PM on Saturdays but I have a feeling I won't have trouble staying awake this weekend...we'll see....;)

I'm starting to get to-do panic too. Magnets, T-shirts and FE I haven't even started yet!!

That reminds me...

Can someone tell me the T-shirt options again? How much and when the money is due?

Thanks,

~Jeff

Jeff as far as I know we were each making our own. I know on my last cruise some folks got theirs made through Cafe Press but then others got denied due to copyright (the Disney design). Don't know if that still happens or not, but I was just going to buy Tshirts and iron-on transfers at Michaels and make them myself for our family.

In fact I saw somewhere on the dis someone made a cool cruise T shirt with their logo on the front and an itinerary on the back listed like concert dates. I thought that was neat. I was thinking for the boys I would make theirs with a small pocket logo on front and then a full logo on back, and for the girls large logo on the front and then the itinerary listing on back. :)

Good Morning Cruisers!!

I just set my alarm for 11:50 PM. . . so I will be up and trying to make some reservations!! Then I guess we go into full cruise mode!! I too need to get cracking! No T-shirts or magnets printed yet!!! :rolleyes1

So. . . who else will be around to share in the joy of planning "tonight"?
:surfweb:

As a first time cruiser I've still got to wait a few more days (15!) before I log on to book anything but I'm there with you guys in spirit! :3dglasses
