OK, I have to ask this because, well, you folks are a wealth of information!;)
This will be our 4th DCL cruise. Do we become "gold" members when we book our next cruise, or the one after that?

Just asking.... any info would be appreciated!:)

Kristen

Hi everyone--my husband and I just found this board. We are taking our first DCL with our 9 year old daughter. Can't wait!! The information you all have shared has been very helpful. Looking forward to meeting everyone on board.

Welcome. Ask any questions you might have. We all love to talk about Disney. In fact I love to talk about anything Disney. Be prepared DCL is addictive this may be your 1st DCL cruise but most likely will not be your last.

This has been answered, just confirming. After you complete your 5th and 10th cruise is when you make it to the next level.

Nina:banana:

Hi Nina! And Welcome Aboard!
I have added your family to the roll call on page 1 post 1. Please take a look and let me know if you want any changes.

Things you want to decide:
1. Do you want to participate in the FE?
2. Do you want your daughter to participate in the DIS TOT?
3. Do you want to purchase DIS Lanyards?

More info on all of these can be found on page 1 post 1.

*Anyone who is interested in watching it can find it here. Its a Royal Caribbean and this is days 1 and 2 (10 mins long).

Hey Jen!

I watched this twice yesterday! Once when I got home, and then when Linda got home I watched it again with her! We both loved it! After watching it I realized I had never seen a picture of you!! For some reason, in my head you were looking much different . . . :confused3

Your family is beautiful and we both loved the video!!

Sorry if you already answered these . . . but . . .

what were the songs you used?
when you get the "which" and "how" many figured out for the lanywards, are you going to PM each of us with your address so that we can send you the money?

Thanks!! :surfweb:

Glad to see you :surfweb: found this wonderful group!

Will you be in the port area the night before we sail? Trying to get a group together for a Meet and Greet dinner. We always think it is so much fun to find our new friends at the terminal when we depart.

Lots of New Jersey folks sailing with us. We're from PA so we're close.

My issue right now is i know i will lose weight cause I am having a stomach issue where i am having to watch what i eat cause my stomach lining in inflammed and im on meds to treat it but really on low acid food and no caffiene so there goes my soda for a month and no chocolate either so i look at it as i know i will lose weight but how much so i cant figure out when size i will be i know i will either go down one or two by then. And since im a over packer i cant figure out how many shorts or tank top(casual) i will go through or pool where and what not. maybe im just over thinking things but thats how i am and then after i stop thinking about me i start thinking how clothes will my 7yr old will need cause kids get dirty. and we are doing a week before the cruise in the parks. why cant we have a magic gene lol

I am the LAST one to ask about how much to pack! (:rotfl2:)...I am a chronic overpacker. We had a whole suitcase of clean clothes we did not wear on our last cruise (and it was mostly for the kids, "extra" outfits). I will blame it partly on the fact that RCCL does not lave a laundry so I did consciously pack extra knowing that! But I am heavy handed when it comes to the packing for sure. (Every time I say I am going to try and scale back, we'll see if I can this time ;)

Oh I am sorry to hear about your stomach condition, I hope it doesn't cause you too much discomfort! I can totally see your dilemma now. I wish I had a good suggestion for you. But about the only thing I can thing of sounds silly and that's maternity shorts. Not the full panel ones but what about the ones with the small inch or two strip of fabric at the waist. The "low-hung" ones that don't really look maternity. Those you could buy in a smaller size but not be too concerned with not "making" it down to the size. Sorry, that's all I can think of, except buying big and bringing safety pins and belts. Overstock as posted earlier is a good idea and there is eBay too, where if you can't find anything in the stores, you might be able to find some summery clothes there.
That's a tough one! Good luck! :)

Hi,

I have PM for the TOT and for the lanyards but just as a double check. Also, I would be more than happy to volunteer for the TOT.

Thank You,

Nicole

Gotcha Nicole, thanks! :goodvibes

:welcome: aboard Nina! Glad to have you sailing with us! I have a 9 y/o DD too! Several of the girls around that age are getting to know each other on the kids thread! (link on Post 1 of this thread)! :)

Aww, thanks so much I am glad you and Linda enjoyed it! :) I know exactly what you mean about picturing someone in your head!!! :rotfl2: I do the exact same thing with people I hear on radio shows and podcasts. :lmao:

Sorry if you already answered these . . . but . . .

what were the songs you used?

In the first segment and in order they are

"Lust for Life" by Iggy Pop (used in RCCL commercials)
"Where the Boat Leaves From" by Zac Brown Band
"Say Hey (I Love You) by Michael Franti & Spearhead
"Wonderful Day" by O.A.R.

HTH, I had narrowed the choices down to about 200 songs (LOL), 21 made the final cut (the full movie is 1 hour 7 minutes long). It was hard because I chose a lot of the music before the trip but found afterwards when actually putting the photos together I just didn't "feel it" with some of the songs. So my choices actually changed a lot by the end of it. But I like how it came out. And some of the songs had a decidedly "Western" caribbean feel, so I saved those for this time around! :thumbsup2

when you get the "which" and "how" many figured out for the lanywards, are you going to PM each of us with your address so that we can send you the money?

Thanks!! :surfweb:

Yep, that's exactly what I am going to do. I have just been jotting down the comments and preferences on the design choices as I come across them in the thread (so I don't have to backtrack) and of course I have saved the PM's and emails. I will go through all of those this weekend (Sunday or maybe Monday) and make a tally. Then once a clear front runner is established I will get the "offical" quote. Then I will do the dirty work (lol MATH!) and send out PM's to everyone with individual and total cost, plus my address and a link to Paypal. That should be sometime early next week. The tentative deadline for receiving payments will be Sept. 1st. Then once I have all the payments I will put the order in! :thumbsup2

LOL, Shop in Florida for summer wear? We tried that last fall! We drove then, like we are doing this year (a 24 hour drive from Ottawa Canada). Half way to Florida, I realized I had forgotten to pack MY bathing suit AND my 12yr old sons sandles. "No Problem", I thought, "We're heading to where it's summer year round". We shopped EVERYWHERE for a bathing suit for me and sandals for Daniel. I finally did find a bathing suit, but it was UGLY, from the walmart end of season clearance rack. The suit was even a size too big as they had NOTHING else anywhere. No shoe store or Department store there had Boys sandals! We finally did find him some crocks though, when I remembered a photo on the WDW board here. It was a photo taken by the guy that does the "Adventures of the Purple Van" thread. The photo was of the gift shop at CBR. So upon Check out that last day at the Disney Resort, we drove over to Old Port Royal, and sure enough right outside the gift shop, was a whole RACK of Disney Crocs in both boy and girl colors. So we got him a pair of black
ones.

The FUNNIER thing is,,,,,, since the warm weather arrived here this past spring, and we dug out all our summer clothes and shoes, That ugly bathing suit, along with DH's sandals (not DS Crocs) have never made an appearance. We in fact haven't seen them since our day on Castaway Cay! Thats the last time they were worn, and we haven't seen them since (though I'm SURE they did get packed to come home). It's a mystery!
Have fun shopping for clothes whenever and wherever you do. The act alone is always fun! At least it is for me.

I think I know why Florida is devoid of summer clothes when its not summer....cause Floridians don't think of it as hot then! My SIL who is a Florida resident just visited us. It was 80 or so every day she was here, but she still was in long pants and sometimes even long sleeve shirts! To her, since it was not 100, it was cold

And speaking of stuff that went mysteriously missing after a cruise, my DS's sweatshirt completely disappeared. He had it on the bus to the port, he had it when we boarded (there are photos). He didn't need it after then because it was so warm, so we just left it in the room. On the last day, I hunted everywhere and could not find it. It just went poof! He was going to need a jacket when we landed in New York, so I bought him a sweatshirt onboard, cute but expensive.

I wondered if it was inadvertently picked up with the sheets or something....

This made me laugh. I remember in Titusville, FL where I grew up, we had a kid in high school that would come to school all bundled in a Miami Dolphins PARKA at 40F. I used to ask him if that was a little overkill, and his response was, "us brothers don't do cold."

But the statement is totally true. I don't know about the Tampa crew. (living/nenner), but when it hit 60F I was almost always in a sweater complaining about the cold. Now (inSTL), I wear shorts year round! Well, unless the temp are in single digits.

I lived in Titusville for 5 years! My brother still lives there.
