Yay! And I am just loving that there are so many girls on board that are or are near my daughter's age!

I have all my FE stuff, but my item for the adults needs to be "customized". I went to the craft store and got everything I needed to do that, so now I just have to sit down and do it!

We do have a Disney countdown calendar that I made (Mickey head paint chips with numbers on them attached to a white foam Calendar Board) I usually put it up about 3 weeks before our trip, but I am thinking I may have to bring it out earlier and re-configure it so that it can be a 6 month calendar instead. I see another trip to Home Depot in my future for Mickey head paint chips!

I remember making this one for my youngest, with those Mickey head paint chips! DH used to joke with me about how Home Depot probably has their security staff watching out for me because I was taking TOO many paint chips each trip to the store. DS LOVED the countdown chain! Not doing it this trip becasue, they DON'T know about the trip. Trying to keep it a surprise till the last minute!

We had started this countdown chain at 100 days out:

Oh my gosh -- Judy this is way too cute of an activity -- so I'm going to copy you! The twins will love doing the countdown. Guess I'd better tell them what is going on 100 days out! Now I have to make a trip to Home Depot.... we spend so much there anyway I'm sure they won't mind supporting our mouse adventure.

I must admit to being somewhat sneaky about those Mickey Head paint chips. I had three of us cruise by the display at separate intervals and grab a few with each pass! :)

We spend a nearly ridiculous amount of money at Home Depot too. It's gotten to the point where we will pull into the parking lot and my kids will yell "No! Not the Orange Store!" :rotfl:

I love Tim!! How do you not just give that kid everything he wants!?

Well he usually does get ALMOST everything he wants! Shamefully I say that! He's our baby of the family, our Miracle baby, as I call him, (though all our kids are miracles aren't they) and yes, he has us wrapped around his little fingers! Except every morning when he says "I'm NOT going to school today", that one, I never give in on, UNLESS he is beyond miserable which means he didn't get a good nights sleep, and in that case I send him back to bed and walk him to school later.

He currently wants his hair cut and wants it REALLY short (an army cut), and I don't want that on him. I keep telling myself, "Hair Grows Back", and if I do it now, it'll be back to normal by the time of our cruise,....hmmmmm

Are MARS Bars sold in the U.S.?

Mars Canada is running a campaign called "Random Acts Of Chocolate"!

I have a coupon for buy one, get one free and it has a caption on it that reads " Give one of these participating Brands to someone who deserves it".

All are brands of candy bars!

Makes me think of the time I was in the lounge of the Medical Day unit at our Children's Hospital. It was early on in my Daughters Cancer Treatment. She was in the playroom doing some art work, and I was in the lounge area outside the play room, a more peaceful area with a big screen TV, coffee table, magazines,, ect.. The only other person there was another mom, whom I had not met up to this point. A commercial came on TV, one about a Chocolate bar (Arrow Bar I think). Just before this, I was thinking that I should head down to the OASIS, a small caffeteria/snack store on the main level of the hospital, for a snack and a juice, as I had skipped breakfast that morning. DD was not allowed to eat breakfast on treatment days as she would be put "Under" for her procedure. So I, the mom, supported her by not eating myself (but would sneak down for a snack at the OASIS when she was otherwise occupied.
Well, this other mom, after the chocolate bar commercial, commented out loud but to no one in particular, "OH, I Would LOVE a Chocolate Bar right now". Hmmmmm I thought, and smiled to myself as I got up to go for my secret snack. I bought 3 chocolate bars and 3 juices. (one each would be for my daughter after her procedure).
When I got back up to the lounge area, I walked over to that mom and handed her a Chocolate Bar and a Juice. She was Totally surprised, and the smile that appeared on her face was Priceless.
From then onwards, we became friends. Our daughters had the same cancer, Leukemia. We had dinners together as I invited her to join our CHEO Moms Dinner group, we talked each other through some difficicult times, laughed together at funny things our kids did, watched movies together on nights when both our girls were admitted for days on end, celebrated when our girls each had a birthday, or finished another leg of their treatment protocol.
Sadly her child did not survive, Tragically her child did not survive. But friends we remain to this day, a friendship based on common ground, on the love of our children, on tragedy and faith and yes, even some joy. All because of a Chocolate Bar.

This is such a great story....thanks for sharing it. It's amazing that something so small (a chocolate bar) brought you both together to deal with something so huge (both daughter's leukemia).

What a sweet (yet sad) story Judy!

We booked our hotel today. I am finally glad to have all the particulars in place so now the planning can really kick into gear.

We will be joining many of you at the Country Inn & Suites. We did the Priceline deal but had waited too long to get the $49 rooms. It is up to $73 now which is still a good enough deal. (I guess. I am a little bummed but you know what they say, you snooze you lose. ;))

I was kindof hoping to stay on property at least Thursday night after MNSSHP, but being so late in the month I'm not so sure we can depend on getting some of the great PIN codes we got last year. So we decided we'd better go ahead and make a decision before it was too late.

So, we will be joining those of you doing MNSSHP on Thursday 10/28 (TICKETS GO ON SALE A WEEK FROM SATURDAY!!!) and then staying at CIS on Thursday and Friday nights.

On Friday we plan to take it easy, hit the beach in Cocoa or something. Ron Jon. That kind of thing.
:woohoo:

My Mom (Gramacharming) is making a personalized FE gift. If you are participating in the FE would you please PM me your last name so she has them. Thanks!

Wow! Your Mom must be quite a :cutie: gal. Our last name is Steele.

We will be in Cocoa beach as well, but quite possibly not till 7ish ish ish. I don't know about you all but the likihood of sleep is minimum. So anyone apposed to meeting up before of even at CI?

(sorry in advance for any typos. Gotta love typing on a smart phone.) :)

Hey nenner, we are also at Country Inn and Suites for the Friday night. What time again is the earliest we can check in there?

I think I have our Pre Cruise Itinerary worked out now. But am thinking, slightly considering, MNSSHP. We did not totally enjoy it last fall, but before I rule it out completely, how much are tickets this year?

So far I've figured this:

Tuesday Oct. 26th: Send the kids to school but the Teachers will already know the kids are only there basically to pick up homework packs and older child will pick up younger child to walk home at the 1st recess. Have to think of something to have the teachers tell the boys as to why they are going home early, and ask them to make sure to put homework in large brown sealed envelopes so the boys don't KNOW whats in them.
We will have the BIG REVEAL and Treasure hunt then the excitement of climbing into our already packed van and hitting the road by 11 A.M.
We'll drive straight to Penns Grove NJ, to my Aunts. We'll spend the night there (that should be 8 1/2 hours of our trip)

Wednesday Oct. 27th: Leave Penns Grove at 3:30 A.M. and drive straight through to Orlando and check into an off site Hotel in Kissimmee. We should arrive there approximately 7:30 P.M.

Thursday Oct. 28th: Park Day, Not sure what park, and this is where our MNSSHP decision will be, if we go, it'll be MK for the day, if no MNSSHP then perhaps DHS for the day. (free park tickets). Stay one more night at our Off site Hotel.

Friday Oct. 29th: Our day to relax. If the weather is nice, we might visit coco Beach, or just hang out at our hotel. This would be a great day/evening for us to get together with anyone that wants to do dinner or a beach afternoon, a pre-meet. Also want to get to bed Early as we want to be at the terminal for opening.

So does that sound good so far? The only thing we may change is staying at my Aunts that one night, we might just drive further and stay at a motel off the I-95 to shorten that almost 16 hour drive the next day. Currently I'm not really looking forward to that drive, but I'm sure as the day gets closer, I'll be ALL for it!

My info says 4 PM. (which seems a little on the late side)

They haven't announced it yet. Which is interesting since the onsale date is next week. I would expect maybe a dollar or two more than last year (advance price last year was $52/adult)

Didn't someone mention maybe a casual get together at that grill place overlooking the port? That sounds like fun!

Had to make a stop at Home Depot today for a few paint chips myself. Need them to update a door magnet I use for curises. We will be on the Wonder for a 3 night departing 04/29/10.

We wanted to try an interior cabin because I am slightly claustrophobic, but they upgraded us shortly after we booked. Guess we will have to book another inside now.

I may have mentioned a Meet and Greet at FishLips or another restaurant in the area. We have done this the night before several cruises, and is especially fun if another Disney cruise is leaving the night we dine...We plan to do this for our 04/29/10 cruise, and may meet up with folks staying at the Radisson earlier in the afternoon for some :woohoo: pool/party time before we move the fun to the restaurant.

FishLips depends somewhat on the number of people involved, as we have been told they have said they shy away from DISBoards groups because they take up so much space and time. Guess we could reserve for smaller :rolleyes1 groups if needed.

I guess I would be willing to take names and number in the party of those who may be interested, and will see what can be arranged.

Hi Joanie!!

I am very jealous that you are cruising this week!! I hope you have a great time!

If you want to keep updating one post with your 10/29/2010 Meet & Greet at Fishlips count/list, I will link that post to our first post of this thread. :surfweb:

I would definately be interested in this. I assume Fish Lips sells meals other than Fish and Seafood? (allergies) :)
