What a bummer. Well I guess if you are not going to cruise we will all just need to go to Irleland with you. Do have a Magical time and you will be missed. See you at some other point and place. It really is a very small worlds. Lois

We are booked for this cruise, also. Our family is from Kentucky and we are looking forward to spending Halloween with all of you. My daughter is 8 and my son will be 4. This is our 2nd Disney cruise, but our first on the Magic.

Chris, SO sad :sad1: you won't be cruising with us! I was really looking forward to meeting you in person, but Alas, it's sounds like you are off on what is sure to another fabulous kind of vacation! Have a great time!

TinkoftheBluegrass, Welcome! We lose one and gain 3 or 4!
On page one of this thread there is LOTS of info about events being planned for this cruise, links to graphics for magnets or t-shirts, made just for this cruise. If you are interested in any of the Dis planned events, thats the place to find out what/where/when and How!
Lots of children on this cruise, oh yes, there is also a kids thread, and a link to it from the first page! :)

Welcome! We are a family of 4 also. My DD just turned 9 and my DS just turned 4.....it's great to see another famlily with kids of similiar ages. It's also our second cruise, but our first on the Magic. We did a 4 day Wonder in October 2009.

Kris, sorry to see you go, but Ireland? For a month? I'm a incredibly jealous. Sick with envy in fact! Have a great time. :goodvibes

So I have a question for those of you that have taken a two week vacation. Is it there a downside to one? I ask cause it looks like we can do this. Our current plan, providing $$ are available by then is leaving STL on Sunday prior to the cruise and then coming back after the cruise. So 14 days. Thoughts?

I have found no down side to a longer vacation. We are driving down and doing a B2B so this fall we are taking 3 weeks!!!!. Do it and enjoy

Welcome. We are going to have a blast. Be sure to check out post one to see what we have in the planning stages. Any questions please ask. Looking forward to meeting and cruising with you.

Facebook is great isn't it! We move around a lot, so it's been a blessing to be able to reconnect with friends and it's easier to keep in touch with family and so much simpler to just post pictures instead of emailing them to everyone!

I'm glad it's helped you to reconnect with family

It's because you owed me a margarita also, isnt it? Who is going to let us all know when our MNSSHP tickets go on sale? Enjoy Ireland!

Since JetBlue released their dates through January, I booked our November 6th return airfare today.

We are taking a later flight home than I would like, but the early ones were just way too early (8:00 a.m, etc.). Also, I'm paying about $140.00 more total to go home than I did for our October 28th arriving flight. I suppose that is to be expected though, since Saturday and Sunday flights are always usually more money. Perhaps I will look into that Hyatt day pass thing to give us something to do while we are waiting.

Still, total roundtrip airfare for all four of us from NY to Orlando is still under a $1,000 at $936. I think I can live with it. And I'm happy to have one other piece of the plans in place! :yay:

I could have booked Delta tickets for less, but considering the first checked bag fee that they have, that JetBlue does not have, we would have ended up spending the same amount of money.

We switched our plans because the weekend air fare rates were crazy on Continental. We originally were going to spend 4 days at BCV, cruise, and then fly home, but flying back Sat or Sun was much higher.

Instead we decided to spend 2 days at BLT, cruise, then 2 days at BCV, flying back on Monday. We saved a lot of money flying during the week than a weekend.

DH won't agree to coming in a day early, so we are going to be paying over $1000 for the 3 of us on JetBlue.

They seem to have the right times for us and I wanted direct flights too!

We are staying at AKL for two days prior. I would have thought about switching that up to save money on airfare, but unfortunately, DH's vacation ends on Sunday and the kids have to be back in school Monday morning. It could have been worse...we are paying $124 per ticket to return most of their other flights that day were between $170 - $200.

The rates for Continental out of EWR to MCO flying out Thursday (28th) morning, back Monday (8th) afternoon was $228 rountrip which I thought was reasonable. I just checked JetBlue, they are $109 down, but $204 coming back so we did well not waiting for JetBlue.

I budgeted $1000 for airfare anyhow. We are flying out of Boston, and rates will no doubt fall, but I'd rather get them NOW and know for sure that we are coming! Once I buy the tickets, we are definitely cruising!

Oh, and does anyone know what time DCL recommends for return flights? There's a 1:50 flight to Boston on Saturday. I don't want to go too early, but I also don't want to be sitting at the airport for 7 hours. I emailed my TA, but she hasn't answered me!

The current rates flying back to EWR from MCO on Sat, Nov 6th are between $204 and $239 so you did real well at $124.

You have to be off the ship by 9:00 AM and it's less than an hour to the airiport, but of course you have customs and your mode of transportation to consider.

I don't know what the DCL recommended time is, but a 1:50 PM flight should be no problem.

Great, thank you! I'm excited to book these flights. :yay:

I think you will be ok - I normally look for a flight after 1 :)
