It is a two day drive. (About a total of 24 hours on the road) We are spending the 1st night at a friends house in Tenn and then the next stopping as close to the port as we can get. We have Thursday and Friday night reserved at Country Inn and Suites at the port. The best part is we are doing a B2B so we have 14 days of Magic.
FYI several of our DISERs on the 10/23 cruise have gotten their cruise docs so we should begin to see ours in a week or so. The cruise doc is what makes this vacation real to me!
Awesome! It's a 24 hour drive for us as well. We did 16 hours straight through when driving my eldest son up to College this year, so haveing our stops set so the final leg to FL is 13 hours, I think we can manage that straight through. I'm really looking forward to the drive down. Vacation starts when we leave the driveway! So if you're other disers from the 10/23 cruise have started receiving their cruise documents, then that means WE all should start receiving ours in a the next 2 weeks? Awesome! You're right, that will make it really seem real!!
LOL I'll split the difference with both of you. We leave in 40 days.

I can completely agree with once we leave the driveway. For us, it will be once we leave the football game. My son has a 12:30 game on the day we leave. We will probably go to my parents to drop off my car and dog, let the kid shower, and then drive to "holy land of fun."
My son surprised me with a choice we gave him yesterday. I had made a critical error in the checking account. As a result, we won't be bring as much cashola as I was hoping. So I asked him, "do ya want to go to a restaraunt to eat on the way down or would you be willing to may be eat at a Rest Stop and Picnic on the way down as a family."
I think it was a little unfair that I said family. Since we work different shifts, we rare eat together. So eating as a family is always the most important to him. His response, was to "picnic." It was then that I realized. That although we are driving down. We could do the trip in 16 hours from St Louis, but what is the rush. If we can chill and eat as a family, and hour hear and there is worth it.
Today, we are working on a "new countdown calendar." I ll show the pictures as we get done with it. Instead of just putting numbers on the poster board, we decided a message underneath. We had to go to Wal-mart to get stuff, poster board, stickers, markers, and a BUTTON. Yeah a button. I'm a complete sucker for my kid. He can be exetremly thoughtful of people sometimes.
We were looking for Disney stickers (this was actually not easy). Somehow, we went to check the Birthday section and came across a Mickey button that looks like a 1st place ribbon around it. What does he say? "Hey Dad, Can we buy that Ribbon button for Mickey?" I asked him again just to be sure. And he said the same thing. When I asked him why, he said it had something to do with him wanting to do something for Mickey since Mickey invited him to his house. (Thanks to someone from the Dis!)
He has been wanting to do something for Mickey for a while. I thought he forgot TBH. I swear kids are full of surprises that are just totally worth the
little things they do in a BIG life.
