Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

You can buy them direct: http://www.passporterstore.com/store/

If you have an Amazon account you can get them there too.

I got one a couple years ago, they're cool, but I used it more as a reference, not a planner.

Yes I checked that out. Shipping to Canada makes it worth more to just get it from Chapters. I'm within walking distance or a short drive anyway, and DH has a Chapters Indigo Discount card. (which I'LL be using for the first time ever for this book!) :)

Well, :welcome: !
And what a magical way to celebrate your wife's birthday!! I too get motion sickness. My experience on the ships after having done two cruises now, is that if I take some motion sickness meds before I board or soon after boarding, and then late afternoon of our last day on board, I'm fine. The waters in the Florida area for both cruises, were choppy so we really noticed it the first night and the last night. As long as I used the meds, I was ok and had a fabulous cruise! I may talk to my doctor this time around for an alternative like a patch, but if not, I at least know I'm ok with Gravol or Dramamine.

Thanks for the welcome wishes! I also greatly appreciate any advice on preventing motion sickness. For months I have been second guessing myself about the cruise due to my motion sickness issues. Thanks tjbaggott and cmbar for your suggestions! I will add the Bonine and Dramamine to my shopping list.

I don't think I saw too many breakfast options in the airport and probably will splurge on room service for our Saturday morning breakfast. I just can't decide on how early to get to port because I KNOW DH would prefer to sleep in.

Cmbar, we are also MD residents and reside in Rockville, MD.

Can't wait for this cruise and opportunities to meet people in person!

DH & I are going to Victoria & Albert's for our 10 year anniversary before the cruise. Has anyone been there and can tell me about it? How do they handle picky eaters?

dizney-cruiser, how do I do some editing to the photo album? I have a photo to add and one to remove? Any suggestions? :)

Well, if you are living in the Northeast today, it is spectacular!! The weather is perfect and we are driving up to Maine for the final week of summer before school!:cool1:

Enjoy the week!! I can't wait for this cruise!:)

There were some complaints from people who ordered them to get ready for the European cruises this summer or to get ready for their spring cruises. Much to their dismay, lots of cruises started before the 2010 version reached them! There were lots of changes to the version this year (new places in Europe, plus info on the Dream) so no surprise that the publication would be delayed a bit. But no one thought it would take until July to get the new version. If I had a cruise earlier this year and had pre-ordered my copy, I'd be a bit frustrated.

I have older versions that I keep as reference. In fact, my 2008 version had stuff on the Mexican Riviera cruises so I could see what DCL might offer for excursions long before they actually released them for the 2011 cruises. DCL only released what those spring excursions are a few weeks ago. Lo and behold the spring excursions are quite similar (in many cases the same excursions with only a price increase) to what happened back in 2008. So I was really glad I saved my old 2008 copy so I had a good idea of what might be offered for our April 2011 MR cruise.

If you go through the passporter site you can click on the coupons to get a reduction. You'll have to go through a few hoops and subscribe, but the savings might be worth it depending on if you want to join their group and get their newsletter. It is definitely cheaper to go through them directly than through Amazon. Not sure if our local bookstore carries the leather organizer kit version (what I have) though I have seen the paperback one.

Enjoy your trip! Just think, when you get home it will be another precious week closer to getting on that boat

So the last couple of nights at work I have been putting my Passporter together! Am I the only one who does that? LOL! I take all the pockets and bring them to the front, then I remove the pertinent info (ports, etc.) and use the pockets as dividers for each day..ie put the GC info behind the day 4 pocket then print my Captain Marvins info in the pocket, etc. I keep the maps and deck plans in the very front, and put the rest of the book in the back behind the pockets. (taking out the filler that I would not need, like the info on Med ports).

Over the top? Maybe. LOL. I couldn't fathom going on my RCCL cruise without a Passporter (curse them for not making a Royal version ;)) So I made my own. I printed the pages in the 7x5 size and punched the holes and it worked like a charm!

(Am I crazy? Maybe a little!)

So exciting to be this close, but so, so much to do still!

Well you have got me all in a frenzy with your Passporter! It looks awesome, and how can I possibly be expected to plan properly without one ;) Especially as Tiger just drew all over my cheap planning journal  I looked on Amazon UK this morning, but only second hand ones to be found at $$$$ so I put the idea to bed. I just got home and thought I would do a search on the off chance to see what came up and lo and behold! Waterstones have them! £26.99 inc delivery so not too bad. Hooray!

Enjoy Maine! It is gorgeous here in NE today! Simply amazing!

I asked my TA on Wednesday, but she hasn't gotten back to me. I bet you guys would know and can answer quicker ;)

What we can bring on the ship as far as beverages? Since my sister will be getting us, I may have her stop so we can pick up water and soda, if it is okay to bring them on...and maybe a bottle of champagne or two :woohoo:

If you want a 25% Discount code for the week of 8-25-10 for about 7 days from their site, the code is DAD. They have a podcast each week Passporter's Moms. If you click to the end, they give you a discount code good for a week at their website.

Soda, water, Alcohol. I think the only stipulation is that you have to carry it on. I know I plan on bring alcohol on for a Peach Sangria(sp?) recipe a friend let my wife and I try. I was hooked! Who doesn't like a little Peach Snapps and Wine?

A direct quote from a DCL rep, "If it fits in your carry on you can bring it on the ship".

I guess you need to save a little space for some bubbly. :cool1:

I will buy a new one next year or the year after in preparation for our cruise on the Fantasy!

How do you know when you are going on the Fantasy? Do you have some insider info to share?

Hi Judy! We can’t edit any of the posts from the last thread. You will need to re-create the post, let me know the post # and we can link that to the new thread. I should be able to help you this weekend if you need it . . . but MJ (mmouse37) has special powers :wizard: and might be able to get into the old thread to copy it . . .

Awesome! :thumbsup2 I really think you will enjoy it. :goodvibes

How do you know when you are going on the Fantasy? Do you have some insider info to share?

LOL, no I wish! We have just been assuming when she comes online she will take over the 7 night Magic cruises. We know the Magic will become the "Ambassador" ship (and IMO will be the ship that will be likely to visit all the different ports DCL has supposedly been scouting like Galveston and NYC.) The Wonder appears to be settling into her West Coast/MR/Alaska (and now possibly Hawaii) routine, and we know the Dream and Fantasy both have contracts that keep them exclusive to PC for several years following their introduction. So my money is on one of them doing the 3/4/5 and the other the 7's. With everyone else I am awaiting the 2012 dates with baited breath.

The one thing that did catch me by surprise is the fact that construction on the Fantatsy will not begin until after sailout (or at least maybe floatout?) of the Dream. I followed the construction of Independence of the Seas/Oasis of the Seas and Allure of the Seas and they were being built concurrently. I assumed Dream/Fanatsy would be the same, and they were not. So Fantasy will likely not roll out until very late in the year in 2012 (which messes up all of my plans).

LANYARDS!

Just a quick and gentle reminder we are about 9 days out from the lanyard payment deadline.

If you have not paid me yet, please do so ASAP!!! If you do not pay me by September 5, your lanyards may not be ordered!!! :sad1: I have 6 participants that have not confirmed as well. Please check your inbox for a PM that says "Response Required!". If you do not have that PM and do not know how to send payment, please get with me ASAP so I can get that information to you.

Those who I have not received confirmation or payment from will get a last chance reminder one week out (Sunday). I understand not everyone is on the boards as much as me (:rotfl:) but we are nearing 200 participants and that is a lot of tag typing, printing and assembly. I will have to be very strict with this deadline, unlike the last one.

If you are having issues of which I may be unaware regarding payment please let me know.:)

Also we are nearing the end of signups for the ToT so I can prepare those supplies and purchase candy. If you have not gotten with me yet, please send me a PM or post here. If we don't hear from Leslie by the signups I will post a list that Ellen and I have compiled and participants can check to make sure we have you down (and if not let us know).

Thanks! :goodvibes

Love the photo book! I have to get a picture to you Judy!

Hey Judy, I didn't know Capt Jack was in your family:rotfl: Lucky Girl!

I was hoping to ask a small favor from the cruisers here who have children on the kids thread. My Daughter was so excited the other night when I told her she could converse with some of the kids on the cruise and maybe meet them on the first day. She was super excited to send her very first post ever on a message board. No one has responded and each day she comes looking to see if anyone has answered! I was wondering if someone might ask their child to respond. I know, I know this is a lame mom thing to ask, but she is terribly anxious and shy and just the fact that she is considering trying to meet a few kids her age is pretty exciting for us. She is 11.

Thanks,

I'll have Savannah head over there later, she is usually all over that thread but she has been grounded from the computer (which I seem to have to do more and more lately) ;)

I need to get Seren over on the kids meet. She is out tonight, but I know she will want to meet the kids beforehand so I'll get her to sign up over the weekend. She will be 11 in a couple of weeks, and it would be great to get her involved with kids her own age on the cruise. As much as she loves her sister and cousin, being seen with a 2 and 4 year old all of the time does her street cred no good!
