Oct 30 2010 7 Night Western (PART 2)

Hello Everyone!

I am having some issues with the first post . . . I had to "remove" some of the pictures because I was being told I was over the limit - but I am still having the last bit of the post truncated. . . I need a break and will try fresh a bit later :(

Just wanted to thank all the people who work so hard to make this meet board work so well. Janice (disney-cruizer), you are great keeping everything organized. Jen (nenner1), the lanyards must be a real pain to do for such a large group but you always seem so cheerful and patient with us. Leslie, we appreciate all you do for the FE exchange. Judy (tjbaggott), wow, your design talent is over the top with the magnets and the photo album. Jeff (pudo), you are a wealth of information and somehow you explain things so simply to those of us who are techno-challenged. Many thanks to those who are helping to arrange the trick or treating, the meet, the kids thread, and sundry other things. And we benefit also from having one of the moderators of the whole board, Mary Jane (mmouse37), help steer us in the right direction when need be. There are countless more people to thank but I'll stop here. Though we are a large group I am amazed at the small town feel of this board. Can't wait to meet all of you. I had no idea when I joined the Disboard site that I would have so much fun and learn so much stuff about all things Disney.

Beth

Thank you, I totally agree. We have a great group who collectively are going to make this a fantastic cruise.

Thanks to all involved with the laynards, fish extenders, ToT, Treasure Hunt, and the volunteers who will help pull off "our" events.

Sorry if I missed anybody

Jeff

I too want to send out a big thank you to everyone on this thread! I have not had the time to spend like I would love but can not wait to be on board and meet each of you. Thank you especially to all the folks that have taken the lead in planning activities that we can share and enjoy. Janet and I will benefit from all the very hard work. Thank you Lois

Very well said Beth & I agree!

:welcome: !!!!! We keep growing and growing! Page one is filled with a lot of info, so check it out. I had to do it a few times as there is SO much info! If you'd like your family's photo added to the album, pm it to me in full size, or I can provide you with my email for that. Do you have plans yet for GC? If your family is interested, we have room for only 7 more people on our Captain Marvin's Snorkeling Tour (stingray city included). That info is also on page 1. My boys are 13 and 7 and would love to chat on that kids thread, IF they knew about this trip, :rotfl: But alas, it is a surprise for them. Waiting almost 2 years?? Did you find this summer went fast or slow, with this vacation in the backround? When I hear "9 Weeks away", I start to panic a little, I still have SO much to do!!!! :)

Thank you. The Captain Marvin's sounds like alot of fun, but I think those huge stingrays would be a little overwhelming for my kids. We are going to do the stingrays at Castaway Cay again(they are smaller). Maybe someday we can do Stingray City.(Sounds like a good excuse for another cruise). I can't believe you are able to surprise your kids with the cruise, I would never be able to keep it a secret! They are going to be so thrilled!

Hi! And :welcome: aboard!

We are glad to have you sailing with us.

I have added your kids to the ToT list! :thumbsup2 As it is right now, you are welcome to bring along a candy contribution if it is not a hardship, but it is by no means required. We should have plenty of candy and goodies! :goodvibes

It will be held on 10/31 and we willmeet at 11:00 at the Deck 5 Atrium near Oceaneers Lab. More info will be posted as we get closer! :)

It is so nice of you to organize this. Thank You! How could halloween get any better than trick-or-treating on the Magic?

A very big thank you to all of the organizers from me too! And, thanks to everyone who answers all my silly questions, whether you are an organizer or not ;)

DH has started on the countdown calendar (I guess we're starting the actual countdown on October 1st). Each of us is responsible for 10 place markers for the days. Well, I didn't feel like cleaning this morning, so I got out my Cricut and got to work!

These are my ten for our calendar. DH says I'm a cheater because I didn't do them by hand (uh, yes I did), and Morgan says I'm a showoff. Oh well, I guess I can live with that!

Jennifer, What's a cricut? I especially like the umbrella drink image -- I'm sure some of those will be consumed on the Magic!

Can we get a teen group list together? Maybe everyone with a teen can PM me with a first name and email address. I can compile the list and PM it back to all those that participated.

My guess is once I PM back the list, the teens can figure out the best way to communicate like Facebook.

OK, my first thought was "why didn't I sign up for that group?", They look awesome!

I have the third post on the first page - if you can't get everything in the first post, let me know and I'll be happy to edit my post with anything you can't fit in post #1.

A Cricut is an electronic die cut machine. I use it for scrapbooking. I am hoping to use it for my handmade FE gift too.

:rotfl:

Thanks, Sheri!

Hi all! Just wanted to let you know (for FE purposes) that we have been assigned our room: 2112. Also want to let you guys know that we still want to participate in the FE, because I know that there was some confusion about whether we were participating. So, just for confirmation, we would like to participate in the FE group with my DD(8) and my DS (6).

Now I have a question for our most knowledgeable and experienced group. I am just kicking myself that I did not take advantage of the Country Inn and Suites deal, and now cannot get that room on priceline. The best rate I can find for the night before our cruise is $219. That's a little too high for us, especially because we will need two rooms for our party.

I have checked the Radisson and the Residence Inn, but neither of them have ANY rooms available, apparently. Anyone have any advice, tips, encouragement for other hotels in the area that offer parking and shuttle? Thanks so much!

The reason you are having trouble finding a room, much less an inexpensive room is the Cocoa Beach Air Show

The link I provided is the "Where To Stay" page on the Air Show website which lists the local hotels which might be helpful.

The good news is we may get to see some of the air show from the ship, the bad news is it's tough to find accommodations close to the port.

Good luck,

Jeff

P.S I forgot, congrats on the room assignment.

Follow-up information: I found a Clarion on Merritt Island about 10 minutes from port. They have availability and reasonable rates, mostly because they are not on the beach. They have a Park and Cruise package which includes breakfast, transporation to port, and on-site parking while you are on the cruise. I guess you can pay the daily price at the port or the clarion. That package for two double beds for two adults and two children was $155.

Please ignore. I'm trying to get to 10 post so I can PM.
Three to go...

two to go... (and you have to wait 40sec between posts, as I just found out!)

Last one, I think.. :)

A quick test to see if I can post links:

Is anyone else in our little group into geocaching?

My son and I will be going for some caches on Key West and CC.

Hello everyone. My family and I will be cruising the Magic with all of you :woohoo: and I thought I should add our names to the list. You all seem like a very friendly group. Can't wait!! This will be our 6th Disney Cruise and it will be myself, my mom, DH, DS (17), and DD (13). We are also from New Jersey like so many others of you and my DD would love to make some new friends before the cruise, so I encouraged her to join the kids thread. :thumbsup2 Nine weeks to go!! See you all there!
Karen :cheer2:
