Oct 19, 2002 UNSTOPPABLE...

We had more ice this morning, but the temps have risen and the ice has now finally melted off my poor trees. Winter storm warning for tonight through tomorrow. I knew we would have a snow storm tomorrow.

Jerry had a meeting at work on how to work with the people in India. I said that is fine as long as the people in India are having a meeting on how to work with Americans! Afterall, they are taking all the jobs!

The traction light has been behaving, let's hope it stays that way. I don't want an expensive car repair!

Good morning. Just got done with an interview for another position. Once again it was weird. It was scheduled to be with my Director in her office and this morning her Secretary came over and told me to call her office instead of showing up because all the other interviews are being done over the phone and it would be an unfair advantage to the other applicants. So this morning I had to go into a conference room a few doors down from my Director and call her.

Still won't know anything official about the government shutdown until next week. Pretty scary and many are running around panicked right now. So as of next friday, I might not be getting paid anymore.

Heidi, somewhere along the way today I read a newspaper article from DC about the last time it shut down it was for 21 days. I pray to comes together for you. (just realized, it was a FB post from Jan)

Denine, we have inches deep of ice along our grass in the backyard. It just doesn't seem to be melting. I wonder if we will get winter kill. I agree with you. Those in India need to work with the Americans as well. Don't you just hate it when you call for computer problems and you just can't understand them?!

Julie, thanks for the email about smart phones. That NEEDS to get out about how dangerous the situation is. YIKES!!!!

Hi guys!

Like Denine said, we really had a fun time at lil Garry's birthday party. I swear we get together at our house and everyone just laughs and laughs! This time, poor Anna Marie was the "target" for awhile. Then of course it goes back to me or mom. I was pretty "light" on Denine! ;) Wasn't I?
I hope that we don't get hit with this "winter storm" tonight. BUT if we do.... IT'S ALL DENINE'S FAULT!!!!!:lmao::lmao:

Sandy, you be VERY CAREFUL down in Mexico. Garry had gotten notices at the station about how American tourists are being "targeted" for theft and bodily harm. (the big drug lords down there have called for "war" on Americans. Even BGSU sent out emails to all the college students to NOT go anywhere in Mexico for spring break. There has been other colleges around here too that sent the same emails. I know you and Ted will be on guard, I just worry about my sis!!!! That is the main reason why the Wonder stopped going to some of the ports for the Mexican Rivera cruises. I know your time share will do it's best to keep you out of harms way. I'm always a worrier!!

Heidi, hang in there! I'm hoping for the best for you and your job! Things are crazy all over. Here in Ohio they are trying to get a bill approved to eliminate state unions. Teahers, police, fireman...etc... they want to really put the "screws" to them. IF it passes, you can forget about us going on ANY cruise! They want to take sooooooooo much away from us.... our health insurance would be no more, collective bargaining gone.... longevity gone, in other words if they don't like someone... they can say we need lay offs so you're it! For teachers pay would be on merit not education of the teacher. WHICH if anyone has ever taught in a classroom, you are good as a teacher as your kids want to learn. You CAN'T force a child to want to learn, so you should be penalized for their behavior? Anyways, I really feel for you and I hope and PRAY things will work out in your best interest. Sending Pixie dust your way and keeping my fingers crossed.

Susan, I hope you are doing well and keep us posted on the hockey!!!

Barb, WHERE ARE YOU? DON'T you love us anymore?;)

Hi Jeanne and Bonnie!

Well gonna run! Have a great evening everyone!

:hug:Ah gee, Julie. Thanks for your concern. I feel totally safe in Cozumel. You are right. We are smart when down there to the point of no jewelry even. I have one of those over the body purse like things that can't be cut off. We have an American friend that lives there and I keep in contact with her pretty much daily. I know that doesn't mean a thing cuz bad things happen just being in the wrong place at the wrong time here or there. Thanks:hug:

Maybe sometime we can go to one of your parties but I refuse to be the brunt of jokes!!! :thumbsup2:rotfl2:

Stay safe IF you get the storm!

I thought I would add that the Mexican Riviera hasn't excited me at all. I wasn't surprised that DCL and other cruiselines pulled out. The ports we visited on the Panama Canal cruise was enough for me to stay away. We also have resorts on that side of Mexico and we have no desire to vacation with all the horrible things happening. You just never know...........

Hi Guys! Well, we got hit pretty good last night and this morning with snow and blowing and drifting snow. Everything was pretty much canceled today. I hope Denine was smart and decided to stay home instead of going to work for only 4 hours this morning. Even though she hasn't been to work in 2 months, 4 hours in this stuff would NOT be worth it, especially if the entire family would have had to get up and go out in it. The back roads would have been in passable!!! They were saying if you didn't have to go out in it, DON'T! It is suppose to calm down by 4pm today. Even Kent State University, Cleveland State University AND Bowling Green State University canceled classes today. We had people all over our city getting stuck. It is pretty bad out, but NOTHING compared to the blizzard of '78!!!! NOW THAT WAS A STORM!!!!!

Well, I hope everyone is doing well. Gonna try and get some more stuff done around here, but with everyone home, I have to play referee at times!!!

Be Back Later!

Julie, stay safe but I have to admit that I'm jealous. We haven't had a storm like that in a couple of years and I love all the "bonding" time with the neighbors. I love that we all talk on the phone checking on each other and comparing.

Denine, CHECK IN when you can.

Barb, Julie is right. WHERE ARE YOU???

Did I tell you guys that I booked the Fantasy Nov 3-10, 2012. It's going to San Juan and I thought that would be fun. It is tentative for us but I thought I would mention it just in case you guys might want to join me. Heidi more than likely can't make it.

Speaking of Heidi, they are up skiing and she called me telling me that it was an awesome day. The mtns are getting hit again and they are skiing in knee deep powder. They will come home exhausted but happy.

Went to work, I had to. If I didn't, I would have been the ONLY one that didn't show up. The roads were AWFUL!!!!!! They said the snow was coming down at 2" per hour, plus windy. The plows couldn't keep up. As far as I am concerned, winter can leave and NEVER come back! Jerry had some intense driving this morning. The other nurse today lives in Parma. Her husband drove her too. It took twice as long each direction, so 50 minutes each way. The one road I take to get there was closed; a power line was down across the road. SO, we had to turn around and go a different way. Visibility was only as far as your headlights would go and you couldn't tell where the sides of the road were. It was better when it got light out, but only because it was light out. Oh yeah, we had freezing rain during the night too. The windows and deck were coated in ice again. Jerry said there was ice on the driveway too.

At least I got my time for next month. I got 3 Fridays. Someone else made out the schedule.

Kaleigh's theater class is cancelled for this evening, which we figured, since schools were closed.

The only port I really want to see on the MR cruise is Cabo. I really wanted to go there on the PC cruise and it was cancelled. As far as I know, that port is still as safe as Mexico ever is. You can keep Acapulco. It was a hole.

Glad this storm is over and no it was nothing like the blizzard of '78. This wasn't technically a blizzard.

Denine, it might not be called a blizzard but it sure sounds like one. Glad you are back SAFE and thanks for checking in so soon. We got off the ship in Acapulco and I got scared so we went back. Jeanne, Ted and I did grab a taxi at night to see the night cliff divers.....AWESOME!!! What did you do in Manzanillo? Another port that we were scared in. We stopped at the shore excursion desk and asked them what there was to do. Of course, they had never been so it was hard to answer. The only reason we stopped there was because of Hurricane Hillary changing our course. Anyway, they mentioned a beach so we asked a taxi driver to take the five of us there. OMG, I bet Ted would even admit to being scared. Luckily there was a hotel right there and they called a return taxi for us. That taxi driver told us that the first one should never have dropped us off. There wasn't a beach. The water actually was right next to the hotel bldg. I will never, ever forget how scared the 4 of us women were. I was disappointed about Cabo as well. But riding the waves through Hurricane Hillary was the highlight of our PC cruise even over the locks!

WORK WORK WORK - what a week and I have to do some this weekend AGAIN!!!

So, hockey update: the 2 most importnat games of the season thus far this weekend against Raleigh. We have to win both to go to Nationals. Lose or tie one of them and NO Nationals. I will send you guys the event invitation on FB fr tomorrow's game even though I know you guys can't make it.

We hit 74 today!!! No SNOW here!! Trees have buds so green is not far away!!

Remember Turner's old girlfriend who started making some really bad choices and borke up with him? Drinking, possible drugs, etc? I am so glad they are not together anymore...she's pregnant. I am so disappointed for her. Turner had heard rumors but found out that it is true and her boyfriend is the one that got her involved in bad choices. So SAD! Hailey was so sweet before she got involved in that new group of "friends".

I'll keep you guys posted about the hockey games. Wish them luck!!!

:cheer2::cheer2:LETS GO TURNER, LETS GO!!!!!! GO get em!!! :cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

Julie - That is a horrible bill they are trying to pass. I will definitely be keeping you guys in my prayers and hope that bill fails miserably. So ridiculous. How would these people feel if it was happening to them. I guess there health insurance and pay needs to be cut too, but that will never happen. Hang in there.

Denine - Glad you made it to work and back home safely. I cannot imagine driving in an ice storm, so scary.

Susan - Wow, that is so sad about Hailey. Thank goodness Turner has a great head on his shoulders and didn't try and get her back and do some stupid things. Her poor parents must be panicked.

I am with you guys, I hated Acapulco. We went to the fort across the way and were followed by stalkers trying to sell us a tour of the fort. We didn't say off the ship very long there. I liked Cabo, but when we went snorkeling when we got done we got to play on the beach and up on this huge rock stood a ton of their military people with guns watching out. It was scary so I couldn't wait to leave there! The Port area with shopping was nice and we had fun there. I love Puerto Vallarta, that was my fav Mexican port. Had a blast and felt completely safe.

As my mom said, we went skiing and had an amazing time. The snow was awesome! I started with a little cold yesterday morning and when I woke up I knew I probably shouldn't have gone because it would just get me sicker. Well I was right but I could just not pass up the powder and a good ski day! Now I am sick and miserable. OH well, I did it to myself and knew the consequences so I can't complain.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Sandy: We did the day tour in Acapulco and saw the cliff divers and had lunch at the restaurant above the cliff divers. I got food poisoning and have never felt so sick in my life! We got off the ship at the hole in the wall, I mean Manzanillo and just walked for a while. Sailing through the hurricane was fun! I really want take an excursion in Cabo. I just hope Kaleigh will be old enough for anything we choose. The last time, I had a canoe trip booked.

Heidi: Glad you had fun and feel better.

Go Turner!!!!

We got the end of the driveway end cleaned out. We had a wall, 3 feet high and about 4 feet wide the whole width of the driveway. Thank you snow plow. Of course, we had just finished cleaning the driveway a short time before when he came through. I think we ended up with about a foot of snow.

Supposed to get more snow, but I don't think it is to amount to anything really. Of course, I could do without it at all! Next up is rain and 50's.

So sad about Hailey!

:cheer2:
GO TURNER !!!!
:cheer2:

Wow, lots of fun posts.

Susan, I have you guys in my thoughts today. Hope the boys pull it off. That would be awesome for all!:woohoo: Wow, Hailey is in a world of problems right now. I'm glad that you raised a strong son. Kudos to you and Paul.

Heidi, didn't you stay at an all inclusive at Puerto Vallarta one time and loved it? Sorry you are sick. Still going to puppy school? You didn't reply about the wonderful pirate picture I sent to you. LOL

Julie, I think it's time for the PEOPLE to take charge and decide what the lawmakers should earn, what benefits they should get or what WE the people decide to take away. Maybe then they will realize. They aren't impacted so they could care less about the average joe. Don't get me started!!!!!

Denine, I remember the food poisoning everyone got. I had read about the possiblity before we cruised so I didn't even consider it. I'm glad you enjoyed the hurricane like we did. Not too many people did. Joyce is one of them. She was so sick, bless her heart. On HAL cruises they promote eating green apples when you start getting a little sea sickness. They have them everywhere including your stateroom. I was going through a few things in our office on Thursday and ran across some info on Hurricane Hillary. She was a pretty strong one!

So how iareall the Ohio people doing in the snow? People getting out now?

Ted's putting the taxes together to give to our preparer and I'm cowarding in a corner. LOL

Hugs

:sad2: The bpys lost the hockey game and their chance for Nationals. It was so sad. They play again this morning, same team, and I expect they will be miserable playing when it doen't really matter now. Thanks for all the support. The guys were really pumped up for the game.:sad2:

Sorry about the snow pile at the end of your driveway, Denine. We are going to be synny and 75 today. Tomorrow 78 but severe thunderstorms expected in he evening and a cool down follows. Guess I just have to enjoy today!!

I saw the FB update about BOLT. I am so sorry it didn't workout. Praying the next next one works out. Wish we could take Bolt in but we already have 2 big dogs.

:sad2:I'm sorry, Susan, about the loss. I'm sure the poor boys are sad. It's hard to take a loss. Bolt is a WONDERFUL and gorgeous dog. He's too attached to Stacey and not bonding with Tyler. I really, really want him but it's not fair as much as we travel. If we were homebodies I wouldn't hesitate. I just feel so bad for him. He went from the breeder to a puppy trainer to the family, to Stacey and now?????

I have to go babysit the kids tomorrow. The new dog, Jasmine, will be there. Stacey is taking Bolt with her, thankfully. I'm not sure if I could handle all that. Jasmine was taken from a family who has several kids, on welfare, not paying for the dog, not attending fundraisers. The trainer tried everything and really really didn't want to take Jasmine because of the 7 year old epileptic. She feels it's not fair to that child. I don't know what happened but all of a sudden Stacey was getting her last night. She is a six month goldendoodle, just like Bolt. She is coming very sick with a UTI and vomiting.

Puppy school today with Heidi otherwise hanging low. I made bean soup. We've watched some great movies this weekend. Case #39, Ticking Clock, Buried and the old True Grit. Buried was different but intense.

How far away are you guys from Cleveland? I saw on the news last night about their horrible weather. Just not sure if you are a suburb of it like we are Denver.

Hey All!

Susan, so sorry to hear the boys aren't going to nationals. Sometimes the luck isn't in the cards. Great to hear about your weather!!!!

Sandy, we are in a suburb of Cleveland. Denine is in the next county over, Lorain and we and Cleveland are in Cuyahoga county. We had a pretty good snow storm, but we have had worse. The snow is melting already from the massive snow from Friday. Our next major "issue" will be flooding. We, knock on wood, don't worry too much about that, but those that live need the rivers.... have major cause for worry. With all the snow and now rain expecting this week, LOT of water.

Sorry to hear about Bolt. I hope this new dog works out better. I hope that someone can take Bolt. It's a shame to keep moving dogs to different homes with whom he has become attached too. Too bad they can't keep him and the new dog. I see the renamed the new dog Penny? Cute name. Like from the Rescuers!! I have caught all the Disney names!!!! A true Disney lover!!!! YEAH!!!

Heidi, I hope you are feeling better!

I guess Barb has forgotten us? What's up with that?

Well, gonna run!

I'll be back later!

TTFN

Hey Julie, that's exactly what I was hearing....all the snow, and now rain leads to flooding. Joey actually named Penny from the movie Bolt. She said that Penny will be Tyler's lucky penny. How sweet is that?! Sure made me tear up. I have a feeling that they will keep Bolt. Both Stacey and Richard are attached. Richard always has been a sucker for animals. (that's a good thing) I guess Penny is doing better sick wise.

Only time for a quick post, need to head to bed.

Boys lost again today but it wasn't as hard to take since it didn't really matter in the long run.

The weatherman had it wrong --- we hit a new record of 81!!!! It was such a beautiful day. I did not want to come inside. Went to my Dad's after Turner's game and walked the property to pick up dead limbs, etc. Gotta get ready for mowing season.

Can't wait to hear how Penny works out.

Hope everyone has a great week.

Gee Susan, guess I'm moving to NC. Nice temp! We thought we were "all that" hitting 50, LOL. Why is it that we always have to pick up all those little twigs and sticks before mowing season? It always takes time.
