Oct.19, 02 Cruisers AGAIN

Yeah!!!!!!!!! Julie finally told!!!!!!! I have been dying here, especially with all the hints she kept dropping.

Julie: You guys have to go in December. We are all doing Mickey's Christmas party. Good luck with your tooth! Dental work isn't as bad as it used to be.

Bonnie: Almost done now. I am sure you will be relieved when the gown is done and DIL says it is gorgeous!

Jerry is almost done with jury duty! They have the last witness today, then closing arguments, jury instructions and deliberation. He came home at noon yesterday, surprised me! They got there and got into the jurors box and were told to go home. The judge has something else to do tomorrow, so he doesn't have to go in. I don't know if he is going to go into work or work from home.

It got up to a whopping 73 degrees yesterday. Don't you love summer? At least it is supposed to be warmer today.

Jerry needs to change the back brakes on the car. He bought the stuff to do it yesterday.

We are looking at putting cupboards in the laundry room. We will buy unfinished ones and I will stain them myself.

Congrats Julie!!! I remember the gown comment and thought you just wanted one for Mackenzie ... maybe for 1st communion or something. I don't KNOW. Great, happy news.

Wild hail storm today. I still have a few inches piled up on the deck. It tore up a nylon roll down curtain that we had for the hot-tub enclosure, chopped off the wind indicator spinnie thing from the weather vain, broke a tiki torch and lots of leaves all over the place. I wonder it the roof looks beat up? I really wouldn't mind the insurance buying us new roofing. It's due.
Oh, speaking of home improvement, tomorrow's the big day! This morning we mucked out the basement enough for the workers to reach the furnace. Amazing how the attitude toward possessions can change. Just 6 months ago we couldn't bear to part with the stuff that's now sitting out in the trash. I wish my energy would have lasted longer. I need to throw out stuff from every room, closet and drawer in my house.
I'm so lazy!

Ok, I'm going to go clean out a drawer now, just to spite myself.

Well, I made it through, but I will NOT DO IT AGAIN without being put to sleep OR without the pain drugs after! I was shaking the whole time and had my eyes closed. I didn't like the feeling (or sound) of the tooth cracking off or the drilling of it that made my entire head throb! It didn't take long, but doing it without the pain pills or the option of being put out won't happen again! My whole head is still just throbbing! Garry says I sound like the Godfather the way I talk. The oral surgeon and his staff were very nice and knew that I was horrified being there and did TRY to make me feel a little better. Haven't been able to eat much today so I'm sure my OBGYN isn't gonna be too happy with me, but there is nothing I can do. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. I'm not allowed to drink anything from a straw until maybe Thursday. Well, that is the update on me. Things will be better, right?

Sandy, what do you think about Nate taking Ali off the block on Big Brother? I think that Jake might go because people really like David. David is a funny guy and the ex's seem to like him, but I think that they MIGHT have plotted to boot David because Nate used the veto. But stranger things have happened. Tomorrow should be good! I want Dana out sooooooooo bad!

Well, gonna go and try to get some sleep. Haven't slept much the last night or today. Hopefully tonight will be better. Will check in later today!

fought with the button holes all last night! Finally they are done...buttons, bonnet and ribbon tonight and it will be finished!!! Yea!!!!!

Julie....take it easy with that tooth. Or without that tooth. Still try to drink plenty of fluid if you aren't eating much...

I am surprised more people didn't pick up on Julie's hints. Heck I was IM'ing her and felt the vibes! ALthough I guess that is why we are sisters! LOL!

Good morning all. Another day, another dollar and perhaps another shower. Didn't get the hail that Lori got but sure got the downpour. Sorry about the damage Lori. It is much better to have the insurance pay for the roof than you!!!!! We replaced ours because of hail a few years back.

Guess what! I know my birthday present from my dental hygenist (the one I daycare for). I have been wanting to bleach my teeth for years. She is going to make bleaching trays for me. Can't wait. It will be an early present so that I can be bleached for Stacey's wedding. My dentist charges 400.00 for it but she is getting a discount from him. Now Ted wants it done. His birthday is 2 days after mine but I can't say anything to her. It was such a wonderful gesture.

Way to go Julie. You survived the dentist. Knew you would!!!! Taped Big Brother last night so will have to watch it during quiet time today.

Almost there Bonnie. Hang in there.

Barb, you are having a great time golfing aren't you????

Denine, you will love the cabinet in the laundry room! We have even put some in our garage. Oak, no less!! My SIL works in construction so he got them for us. Oops Bonnie, I did it again. I mean my soon to be SIL.

No news here. Just checking in to say "Hi". Hang in there Julie, I remember the sick issues with Katie and it was the pits. I'm feeling for you. Pregnancy's not really the ideal time to be losing weight! I weighed only 5 pounds more on delivery day than I did before conceiving. 2nd kid, different Dr. I was allowed some drugs for that one and life was SO much better. Cody seemed to have come out just fine too! See if your Dr. has any remedies. If not, I've heard that the wrist bands for sea sickness help some women. Gingerale, soda crackers... what a diet.

Back from water aerobics and lucky once agaion to finish before the rain. But the rain has arrived, again.

After a wonderful couple of weeks at weigh in, I had a really bad week. Let's just say I gained and it was more than a pound. I guess that is what I get for a weekend away. But I start back being faithful today!

Lori - sorry to hear about the hail damage. We got a new roof a few years ago and the insurance company wrote it as ice damage. I hope you get lucky.

The company my Dad and his girlfriend work for filed bankruptcy today and they are closoing 16 plants and liquidating the assets. More than 6400 people are losing their jobs. My dad was set to retire on August 31 since he will have been on disability for a year. It is a sad day in my hometown today. The company is Pillowtex (formerly, Fieldcrest, formerly Cannon Mills). Cannon Mills started before 1900. Enough on that subject.

Sandy - Let us know how the bleaching turns out. I've always wanted to do that too.

Sorry about that company filing bankruptcy. It is a scary world right now! Lord & Taylor are closing some stores here because of financial problems. I will let you know about the bleaching. Can't wait.

Bonnie, the gown is sooooo beautiful. You did a wonderful job. How lucky Olivia is to have a grandma like you! Sure wish I had someone to make one for my girls! My grandma who was an excellent seamstress passed away before the girls were born. We couldn't afford gowns so my mom just bought white dresses for the girls. Hey, if you were online to send the pic, why didn't you post?????

Well Julie, it is almost Big Brother time. I bet Jack leaves. I wish both Dana and Ali would leave. Nathan has me puzzled. He reads the Bible but swears like a construction worker. Hides behind a Bible?????? I like him but I am starting to wonder about him. Now, I really don't have a favorite.
EVERYONE is so two faced. I can't stand people like that.

I am off of the boards for a week and look what I miss!!

Things have been hectic here and at work. A new server at work and my computer has been down most of the time. And I am fighting my family to get online at home !! It is getting to be fantasy football time so now John is online. I really shouldn't complain because it is about the only thing he does with the computer. Kristen is bored and ready to think about going back to school so she has been on alot too!!

Tomorrow morning we are leaving for a week in Michigan. We have a family wedding and then we will be heading up to John's cousin's log cabin in "the North Woods"!!

Denine, sorry I missed your call. I was upstairs trying to sleep some to get rid of the pain, but it really didn't help. By the time I saw you called, it was too late. I'll give you a call tomorrow. Garry works all weekend so we will have to try for another day.

When I sent the picture is when I finished the gown and I had an important phone call to make to Chicago!!! Sorry guys but you were priority # 2! LOL! You're lucky you got the picture last night.

I sitll have to make the bonnet and slip which should be a lot easier than the gown was...I should be able to knock those out tonight .

Single digits till GLenn gets here! YEA!!!! 5 weeks has become too long.

Julie...I hope you are feeling better.

Class yesterday, today and tomorrow to learn the new computer system we will be using in October. Gives me a little break from the mundane.

Well, hello Laurie. Have a great time this next week. I've got to call you someday soon, just to chat. I tell ya, summertime is always so busy for us. We are packing to leave tonight. We will comeback for our dentist appt tomorrow tho.

Shoot, I have a sore throat. Nothing nasty yet. Cross your fingers as I hate to go to tthe dentist with a cold. At least she is my friend and I can consult her as to whether or not to cancel. I take a power dose of ampicillin to go to the dentist so perhaps it will kill whatever I have.

So how is the mouth, Julie? Watch Big Brother last night?? I guess if I had to pick someone right now it would be for Erica to win.

Forgot to post yesterday did ya miss me??

Tiffany and I had our private golf lessons yesterday. Hers at 2 mine at 3. I learned so much! One of these days I will get out and play an actual game. I am so concerned about not being able to keep up I am sticking to the driving range for now.

Jaymee and I have decided to make Wednesday nights "Our" night. Bob goes to the Y and works out and Tiffany has her youth group at church. We went to see Pirates of the Caribbean last night and are going to see Freaky Friday next Wednesday.

Bonnie-The dress is beautiful. What a wonderful Grandma you are!! Once you get Julie's done we need pictures of that one too!

Susan-You are being too hard on yourself, you are doing terrific job and are an inspiration. Water gain that is all it is

Lori-How is the central air coming along??

Good afternoon!

I couldn't get to the boards this morning, but it looks like other people were have ing trouble too.

Closing arguments are today!!!!!!! Hopefully this can be wrapped up by early next week.

Julie: Better to get some sleep. We are busy the 16th and probably the the 30th. I have to work the other 2 weekends, but we don't usually have late nights. So, maybe one of those weekends. Jerry thinks you are going to have another girl.

Bonnie: Olivia is going to be the most beautiful baby there, just like Kaleigh was!

Lori: Enjoy your new air conditioning, and leave the cute workmen alone.

Sandy: Enjoy your weekend, good luck at the dentist. I have been using that night time whitening stuff. I don't notice much difference, but Jerry thinks they are whiter. Get rid of that sore throat!

Laurie: Nice to hear from you. Enjoy your week in Michigan.

Sue: Don't worry, I haven't been especially good lately either. I have to get back into the swing of things. I really want to lose that last 10 pounds, and I will!

Barb: You will have to tell us how Freaky Friday is when you see it next week.

Jerry got the brakes changed. Now we just have to do a careful measure of the laundry room and buy the cupboards. They are oak and I will stain them to match the kitchen. We are trying to make storage improvements to make this house last longer. We are beginning to overflow. We have been doing some house hunting in the area, but everything that fits our needs is too expensive.

Melinda does not like the length and want to know if I can make it shorter...up to the satin under skirt that you can see in the picture. I tried to explain to Ryan that the true old fashioned gowns were long like that. I explained that if I attempted to take it apart that it may not survive.
I am torn...do I attempt to take it apart to try and make it shorter or do I try and give it away to someone else.

I told Ryan they better go shopping for one.

I need advice here...be honest.

Bonnie - I think the gown is beautiful. As for taking it apart and making it shorter, I don't sew so I don't know what kind of effort it would be. I wish I could be more helpful. Maybe some of the others who sew can adivse you.

Bonnie, I LOVE the dress the way it is. I can't tell from the picture what the waist looks like. If it is a gathered waist (meaning as you sewed the shirt onto the top you gathered as you went) I say forget it. That is too much work. Did they like it otherwise then the length? I'm sorry they reacted that way. They should be honored that you made such a beautiful dress for her. It is made from the heart and filled with love. You even went out of your way to find the material for the overlay that your DIL wanted. I say give them the dress as is. They don't like it they can take it somewhere and shorten it or not use it at all. They could use your dress for the service at the church and then they could change her into a shorter store boughten dress for later. I'm glad that I don't live by them because I would give them a piece of my mind and tell them how ungrateful they are to have such a wonderful grandma like you! All the time you spent on it!!! They should be ashamed of themselves!!!!! Heck, if I knew I was having a girl, I'd buy it from you!

Bonnie- My vote is that you tell them to go find one they want and buy it. Seems to me that if you go to all the trouble to remake it they still will find something they don't like about it and you will be hurt again. Give the beautiful one to Julie and Garry then fly to Ohio for the new babies christening and be a surrogate Grandma. They will really appreciate all the work and love that went into the gown and you will feel good too. I think it is a beautiful gown. I am sorry they didn't appreciate what you did for them.
