Oct 18th 2007, 3 nights?

Thanks so much for all the info! I did a search on the boards and read enough to feel comfortable that it will work out so we booked a room. We
understand that worst case scenario is we lose $150 which would be bad
but not the end of the world!

My only other question right now is how do I quickly come back to this thread? It is getting hard to find it sometimes. Do I just do a search every
time I log on?

Thanks again Pearlieq :hippie:

P.S. Does anybody know their room #s? Is anybody making a door sign?

Glad to hear the Comfort Suites worked out for you. More money for photos and froofy drinks!

The easiest way to get quick access to this thread would be to subscribe to it. Here's what you do:

1.) Open up this thread and look right above the first post on the page. There will be a menu bar on the right side of the screen. The first item on this bar is called "Thread Tools" Click on the arrow.
2.) That will open up a menu of choices. Click on the one that says "Subscribe to this Thread".
3.) That will take you to new screen where you can choose how you want to be notified that someone has posted to the thread. You can choose to get an email every time someone posts something new, one email a day, one email a week, or no emails at all. It will also ask you what folder you want to put the thread into. Leave that as default. Click Add Subscription.
4.) You will automatically be taken back to this thread.
5.) Next time you come to www.disboards.com there will be a menu bar near the top of your screen. The first item on the left will be "User CP". Farther over to the right there will be an item called "Quick Links". Click on the arrow next to "Quick Links".
6.) From the menu, go to the 3rd item from the bottom called "Subscribed Threads". Click on that.
7.) This will open up a list of all of the threads you've subscribed to. Just click on the one you want and it will take you right there!

We're in 2590. It's a cat 9 down on deck 2. We had a similar cabin on our last cruise and really liked it. The porthole lets in a lot of light and there isn't too much motion down that low, which is nice for me because I get a bit motion sick. It's not too bad--I take a Bonine pill each day and I'm usually fine, but I figure why not minimize the motion if I can!

How about you? Have gotten a room# yet?

I hadn't thought about a door sign yet. The usually put a Welcome Home magnet up on our door because we're DVC members, but it would be cool to have something more personalized. I'll have to think about that...

So is anyone coming in the night before or are you coming in the day of? We're coming in the day before and staying in Cocoa Beach. Gotta hit the Ron Jon shop!

This I don't understand - if you book a room at Comfort Suites in Nassau,
you get to use all the facilities at Atlantis ?? If this is true, I will be booking
and cancelling our excursions!!:cool1:

Yep, you get a wristband and have full access to the Atlantis waterparks.
I think I got the room for about $160 ish.... Not bad for a family of 4

I think our room # is 6706. I thought I had it memorized but now can't remember for sure. It's something like that. When we first considered going we started at Cat 12 then ended up booking Cat 6. I have read about others being upgraded - do you think that could happen to you or us? I know we
probably splurged too much on our room but the 6 mos zero interest on the
Disney Visa helps. I had totally not thought about motion sickness, egads
I hope I don't get that :headache:
Also hadn't realized we would be paying for any photos! Diet starting
right away.....I am so clueless about all this but learning alot every day.

There's alot of posts on here about door signs and they are so cute, I might
try to make one if I can figure it out. I think my son would get a kick out of that. Probably a Pirate theme.

We are coming in the day of the cruise (from NC). I think we get into Orlando
at around 9:30 so we think we have plenty of time to get there!

I dont remember the exact number, but we are right next to the Walt (I believe) suite on deck 8. We have a cat 4... I chose that room in hopes of getting to know our next door neighbor :rolleyes1

Cat 6 is awesome! So much fun to have a balcony. I've heard of people being upgraded from the balcony cabins to the larger ones or the family suites--it could happen! It would sure be a nice surprise! :wizard:

Don't worry about it at all--most people do just fine. My DH never needs anything, mine's taken care of with one little pill. If it does happen, I've heard they have plenty of the medicine down at the ship's health office and the gift shop, and there's a couple of drugstores in Nassau within walking distance of the ship.

Also hadn't realized we would be paying for any photos! Diet starting

Oh there are photos! Photos when you get on, photos before every meal, photos of the kids, photos on Castaway Cay... Every day you can go up to Shutters, the photo shop, and see the ones they've taken for you that day. If you like it you can buy it, if not it just goes into a recycle bin.

I swear it's kind of cruel to stick you on a boat where there are at least 487 different places to eat at any given time and then take your picture all the time! :scared1:

Sounds like fun! Are you dressing up for Pirate night? pirate:

So how was everyone's weekend?

I caught a couple of lucky breaks for the trip--I was able to get a DING fare on Southwest for part of our trip and saved some on our airfare. I also saved another few bucks by switching our rental car from Budget to Hertz. All in all not bad for a few clicks on a Sunday!

Just think, by the end of this week it will be September and we can officially say our trip is "next month!" :yay:

Not sure - if we do, it will not be anything major as we are trying to just
take one carry-on case apiece. My son definitely wants to dress up,
so a bandana, eyepatch, stuff like that will probably be all.
Will we be the least dressed ones??pirate:

That's GREAT Pearlieq!!!

We do not have our rental car yet. I think what we are going to have to do is (book in advance), pick it up on Orlando, return it at CC. Then rent another
one on day of return. Now, I think in CC they only have Budget & Avis but we
have not looked into it yet. I think we need to go ahead and book !!!

We watched a show all about the Disney Cruise line on the Travel Channel Friday night. (it may have been a repeat?) Looks awesome-

Our kids plan on bringing the whole costumes... You dont get to do this everyday, so we will just find a little extra room for the costumes...

I'm actually curious how "into it" people will get on the Wonder myself. On our last 7nt we had pirate night and some people really got into it, full costumes for the whole family and evening. Others didn't dress up.

I think DH and I are going to stick to what we did last time, which is go tropical.

Budget, Avis, Thrifty, and Hertz all have rental desks in Cape Canaveral and they all offer a free shuttle to the port. Budget and Avis are located on-site at the Orlando airport, but Hertz and Thrifty are located offsite so you have to take a shuttle, which is less convenient.

We're using Budget on the way to the port, then when we get back we're using Hertz and keeping it for the rest of the week at WDW. We don't really have a time crunch on the way home so we figured it was worth spending the extra time with the shuttle in exhange for the cheaper rate.

We did Budget both ways on our last cruise and it worked out pretty well. DH dropped me and all of our stuff at the port and then turned the car back in while I checked us in at the terminal.

Be sure to check out the car rental discounts at Mousesavers before you book! http://www.mousesavers.com/dclground.html#transportation

*Edited to add* I look my own advice and looked at the discounts on Mousesavers and I'm down another $25 on the car rental by switching to Thrifty. Yay!

Just booked last night for 10/18 sailing. I hope the weather cooperates for us all.

Like pearlieq, I got a great great rate on airfare. I am taking my DW for her 30th birthday. She doesn't know it yet (birthday is Friday). Only sad part is, we are leaving our 3 kids behind.

I'm excited... this will be our second DCL vacation. First time on the Wonder!

Welcome aboard!

What a great birthday gift! I can only imagine how excited she'll be!

You'll totally have to tell us how she reacted on her birthday.

Woo Hoo !!! By the time you step on the boat, you are going to have the best price on everything the way you are going:thumbsup2
We will need to look into booking our rental cars soon so we can have one more thing crossed off our list. I am glad we should not have a time crunch on either end just in case anything should take longer than expected.

I have seen some guidelines here about tipping and wonder if I need to print off & bring with us or if they will have that info on the boat as well?
