Oct 18th 2007, 3 nights?

So, do you already know that Pirate night is our 2nd night?
Do you know in what order we'll eat at the restaurants?
We made res for Palo for the last night but it was the easiest
night to get a res for and I wonder if there's a reason for that?

Yup, pirate night is the second night. The first night is just kind of "general" and the last night is the dressy night.

Here's a link where you can check out some recent Navigators (daily guide to what's going on during the cruise) for the 3nt Wonder. http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruise-new/cr-stateroom-navigator.htm

Unfortuantely you won't know what dining rotation you'll be on until you check in at Port Canveral. I wish we could find out in advance, because we were thinking of eating at Palo, but I only want to do it on the night we're at Animator's Palate since it's not my favorite menu (It's not bad by any means, it's just personally my least favorite of the three).

I was going to see what rotation we were on when we checked in and then stop by and try to get a last minute table for Palo when we board. It might not work out, but I wasn't married to the idea so it's OK either way.

We are not exactly sure if we want to eat at Palo's or not since that will mean we'll miss one of the 3 restaurants we've never even tried before but
decided to get a res since everyone raved so much about it and it sounded like it might be hard to get into later. I thought we could always cancel if we change our mind. We may lose the $20 I guess if we don't cancel until last minute but I thought that would be better than dying to go and can't get in.
We are hoping that by the last night our son will have found some friends and he will want to hang out in the kids club while we go to Palo's.

Ok, new questions for you today.....is there a hair dryer, fridge, and iron
in the cabin? I can't find a definite answer anywhere but I am thinking
no to all 3, correct?

Thanks for all your help:woohoo:

I hope the Palo works out for you. I'm sure you DS will be having a blast in the club by the 3rd night!

So for your questions...

Hair Dryer - Yes, there is one. It's mounted on the wall in the bathroom. I've heard people say it's kind of wimpy, but I did OK with it and my hair is thick.

Fridge - There is what they call a "cooling box" in the room that is kind of like a fridge. They don't put a real fridge in because they give off heat, and who wants that? The cooling box worked pretty well at keeping sodas and water cold for us, but it did take most of a day to get them chilled.

Iron - No irons in the rooms (fire hazard). There are irons available in the laundry rooms on board or the ship's laundry can press items for a fee.

Hope everyone has a great long weekend!

Well, just to update... my DW was totally surprised by the cruise gift for her birthday. We can't wait. The only thing that would make this better is an upgrade ;)

Thanks once again PQ and have a great Holiday weekend!:flower3:

Very cool! :thumbsup2

So how did you break the news?

I actually put the DCL Logo on a postcard with all of our itinerary info on it. I just out that in her birthday card. She looked confused at first and then started reading it... it was awesome. :woohoo:

Hello friends!
Just found this site yesterday even though we've done the Disney thing for a few years! Can't wait for the Oct. 18th cruise...we've done this cruise 4 times during October because our DD11 and DD7 have a couple days off of school during this time. LOVE this cruise! Favorites include the Kids Clubs, time for us together as a family and time for DH and I to have some fun as well! Castaway is my all time favorite, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach is the way to go! If anyone has any specific questions, just ask me. Haven't read too many other posts, don't want to repeat something someone has already said. I love to do yoga and get up early for morning exercise. Love to eat, love to see the shows, I practically cry everytime we are leaving the ship to go home! My kids are so excited for the Pirates deal, already ordered costumes for them to bring. Love to hear what everyone is planning and looking forward to doing!

Welcome lovindisney4 !!!:)

This will be our first Disney cruise well actually first cruise of any kind
ever. We are so looking forward to it and hoping for calm seas and
no storms!!:goodvibes

We are a family of 3: me, DH and DS age 10.

I am looking forward to my son enjoying fun in the kids club,
spending time with my husband,
the food, activities, ports, well looking forward to everything.
We are going to Atlantis for the day on Friday.

Pearliq who is also on our cruise and on this thread has been
very patient and answered all the questions I had. She has
been a wealth of information.:thumbsup2

Only thing I did not plan for was dressing up for dinner each night.:scared1:
I've fallen into the "mom" wardrobe of only casual clothes so I will
need to buy a few things. Nothing too fancy though since I know I
won't wear them much after.

What do the kids (boys) wear to dinner?
No shorts allowed for children either?

Did you ever encounter a storm on any of your October cruises?

Hi SettinSail (& Pearlieq)!
Clothes for the kids...being that I have girls and we have many more options other than shorts, my girls have worn sundresses and skirts. I'm always freezing at dinner, so I always have a little sweater, usually wear casual skirts and sundresses as well. Cute capri outfits are always good too. Have a couple options for dress up night, but haven't chosen as of yet. We are eating at Palo one night as well, so DH hasn't fiqured out his clothes selection as of yet.

You will LOVE this cruise! They slip the itinerary for the kids club under your door each morning, then your son can decide when he would like to attend. My oldest DD11 will be in the same group with him. Our youngest DD7 will never want to leave the kids club, we always have to pull her out to join us for events! She's very into the socializing and independence.

Again, forgive me if I repeat something someone has said, I have yet to get through many posts to read what everyone has been saying for years! Great that we can do all our forms on-line now, makes it a little smoother.

Here's my suggestion if you even think you may get sea sick: I take 1 tablet, or 1/2, one hour before ship takes off. IF there ever is a night you may feel it, it would be the first night. I never take one again. They do have the seasick pills hanging on the infirmary door, just in case. My kids have never been sick nor has my husband. Or you can pick up a motion sickness patch @ Walmart, they tend to be stronger than the pills. In the 3x's we've done this cruise in Oct., we only had one night of rain, very minor on the party out. Other than that, perfect weather!

There is always something to do...my DH and I love this so much, because we get the excitement of Disney with all the characters and shows, yet also the relaxation of the pool, beach and adult time at the other end of the ship while the kids are having the time of their lives! Can't wait!

Our favorite is Castaway Cay, not sure where you are from (near an ocean?) but my older daughter has an issue with the salt water in her sensitive eyes. We always bring an eye wash with us after the first problem. They are in the water for about 7 hours, just beautiful!

Get ready to eat as well...I'm so sick of food when we get home. Even my picky little one can always find plenty to eat at all hours. We love the shows, we also love going to see the late night first run Disney movies. We're trying not to see any movies here at home so we don't see the same movies twice.

Is your son dressing as a pirate? Someone had this filmed on UTube, looks like a fantastic pirate party!

I'll check in with you all in the next few days!
Dreamin' of Disney!:tink:

Wow, I finally read all of the posts here from the 4 of you...great info! Can't wait, just laughing thinking we'll all be upgraded to the best cabins since we're the only ones on this cruise!!! Wouldn't that be wishful thinking!!!
Keep writing, I'm getting soooo excited, I'm driving my kids crazy!

Hi!

Welcome, lovindisney4! Nice to see a new "face" going on the cruise. We're from the same neck of the woods. Fall has definitely been upon us this week, eh? It's going to make those warm Caribbean breezes that much nicer!

DH and I were in San Francisco last week for a convention. As we were walking out of the airport last night I was thinking to myself that good Lord willing the next time we'll be there will be to go on our cruise!

Did anyone else get a neat cruise packet in the mail? At first I thought we had just gotten our cruise docs early, but it turned out to be a neat little "preview" guidebook for the trip. Just a little something else to get excited about.

Just a little over a month!

I totally hear you about all the food! What's worse is we're spending 6 days after the cruise at WDW with the dining plan! I swear I'm going to need to fast for a month after this trip!

We do the same thing with movies too. There's a few I'm looking forward to seeing, especially Ratatouille and maybe Wild Hogs.

Hi Everyone,
Are you getting excited??? I decided I better get into Yoga this morning, want to get ready for the cruise! I did all my forms on-line, great addition since we were on the cruise last. Ordered some clothes from the Disney site for all of us. We are scheduled for the Palo on night 2, 6:00 (we'll take the kids to eat again @ 8:00). We decided this year to do the late seating for the family. Early seating was always a must on the last few cruises, but we decided to go a different route now that they are a little older and they like to stay up late!

Started making my list of things to pack...I'm a habitual list maker! Clothes piles have been started for the girls as well.

Booked our Wednesday night @ The Sheraton Suites Orlando Airport (we're Starwood Owners, therefore used points for a free stay). Kids will get a chance to swim and enjoy Orlando before heading back to the airport in the morning to pick up the Disney Shuttle to the ship.

Anyone making a door sign? This is something new since we've gone cruising last. After reading posts, looks like a lot of people make the magnets for their door. Let me know if any of you are doing that.

Anyone Castaway Club members, will you be attending the Captain's Deal?

I have to get a flu shot every year due to losing a lung to an infection, that will be done on Oct. 9th before we head out to the cruise. Just a friendly reminder if anyone else needs/wants to get one done BEFORE the cruise.

Let me know what you are all up too!
Beth

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know how to check how full the ship is? Seems like other people know how to do this, yet I can't find anywhere on-line to do that. I'm reading how alot of people are getting upgrades 2 weeks prior to getting on the ship. Anyone know anything about this? Can't remember if we were ever upgraded or not.
Thanks!

I didn't think it was possible to check, but if it is... I would love to know as well!!

Hello Fellow Cruisers!!!

Sorry, I have not taken the time to check in lately.
I found myself addicted to this message board for awhile and
decided to take a break. Alo, I stopped receiving email notices
about new posts for some reason.

It sure would be nice to get an upgrade just as an added bonus but
from what I've read here that doesn't happen too often(?) And, you
don't get bumped up very much (?) Well, it will be a nice surprise if
it happens.

Pearlique- welcome back from your trip to SF. We did receive a
neat "cruise travel kit" in the mail but we recd this within a day or 2 of
booking. I thought this was our cruise documents - it has confirmation
"Guest Copy" on it with our room #, etc. Do you think we will still get
something else ? I found it interesting that in all the stuff I have recd
from Disney, not once did they mention to dress up for the Pirate Party
or that there would be a formal night. I guess people just find this out
once they get onboard!;)

Beth-thanks for the advice about dinner clothes. Sounds like I don't need
to dress up as much as I thought....I still need to figure out what son
needs to wear though.

Thanks for the advice about eye wash as well. It's funny, we do live
near the ocean - well, about 2 hrs away and my son has never had a
problem with sea water but his eyes are very bothered by chlorine so
we will be bringing his goggles. Maybe he will use them in the ocean too-
