You better believe it. Patrick went back to Germany today:sad2::sad1:so I needed a distraction.

I have to dog sit this week so this week will go fast. Then I can strart pulling out clothes to see what's going.

It was a pretty unforgettable day. I watched the towers collapse from just across the river in NJ at Sandy Hook. I can't even imagine what the NY'ers saw.

And to all the disers who are policemen, firemen, and in the military. Thank You

My dad was working downtown in Manhattan and heard one of the planes overhead. It took me more then 6 hours to find out that he made it home safe, since I couldnt get a line to NY. He had to walk almost 10 miles, and got a few rides to get home.

A few weeks after the towers came down, his company got a call to take apart airconditioning units on the roofs of nearby buildings.

I was in my way to my EMT class, when I heard the news. My first instinct was a small plane hit 1 of the towers, which is not unheard of. It wasnt until I got to school, when I saw what happened, a few weeks, before I found out I knew at least 3 of the first responders that were killed.2 were firefighters, Capt Tommy Farino, (promoted posthumously to Battalion Chief, since he was on the list) whos nephew was my probationary ff in the volunteer FD I was in in NY, Ray York, whos grandson was in the Cub Scout pack that my dad was comitte chairman of, and I would occasionally go on trips with, and PAPD officer George Howard, who was a fire school instructor, where my old dept went for annual training, and Id see at work when I worked at Kennedy airport, where he was stationed.I also know of at least 1 person that died, after contracting a rare cancer, after working the piles at ground zero. Kevin Delano, was the deputy chief of my old dept in NY. Whether the goverment wants to acknowledge it or not, ground zero is still killing.Theres literally hundreds if not thousands of people, that are on some type of disability, due to working at ground zero, in the weeks and months later.

How did you find out about the refund? We booked on board our last cruise in 2008, and we got an on board credit for that, but I'm curious about the refund of the fuel charge. Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I know I sound like a broken record, but did you book cash or points?
My friends made our reservations while on the ship in Oct 08 also (and we have the $200 OBC as well) . . . Just trying to compare. ;)

Good night, good luck fishing!! Have the leaves started changing yet?

What a horrible day. My hubby was flying, somewhere, I didn't have his schedule handy to know where, and I didn't know what airline(s) had been hijacked. It seemed like forever, but after about an hour he called me:) Also, we spent hours trying to reach my sister in Alexandria VA to find out about the Pentagon situation. Her line was busy. She was spending hours trying to reach my brother in law & his employees. We were fortunate that he was out of the town at a meeting. God was looking out for him that day (although he took him from us a few years ago in a traffic accident). Fortunately his employees were in a meeting a few doors down from their offices. They struggled to exit the Pentagon, but all made it out alive, physically & mentally injured, but alive. My BIL spent the next several months sifting thru the ashes & items found, along with CIA members. They had to watch over those without security clearances who were doing the 'dirty work' to make sure they didn't come across anything of a secure nature. I can't look at the pictures or watch the tv on the anniversary, it's too horrible and painful to me. Not only for what it did to our country, but the emotions I felt that day, trying to make sure my family was okay, rise to the top. The whole week leading up to it effects me.

Ron's secretary's office is the one on the top floor (the one with the computer monitor sitting on the filing cabinet) what isn't shown & I can't find a picture of on the internet, is the bowl of candy sitting on her desk. Her office was almost completely as it was prior to the plane crash.

you can still see the office in this overall view of the Pentagon.

Ron's office has collapsed to the ground, and almost everything he had in there burned. Metal objects melted. Almost everything he'd collected in his 20-year career was gone, but at least he was okay. His office is to the right of the van and just a bit above it

What upsets me most about these pictures is when I see them being used by those who believe this was a conspiracy. How is it that the monitor didn't move or the flag in the office directly below is still standing, etc etc.

Just wanted to share and vent a little.

Not yet I expect to start seeing some changes in the next few weeks. If you remember Joanne we have been having very unseasonable warm weather up here in Maine. Up until the last couple days it's been in the high 80's low 90's during the day. The whole month of August was that way and no rain. In fact we had our AC giong in the bedroom at nights until a couple of days ago.
Well here I set with a cup of coffee waiting for 6:00AM when im going to meet our son to go fishing.

Thanks for sharing your story, and I thank God that your family made it out ok. I don't think the pain of that day will ever go away.

On a happier note. Our magical express tickets came yesterday for the night before at AKV. This was the last item we were waiting for. Now we just need the 14th to get here so we can be on the plane.

Yeah!!!! All the pieces are coming together!!!

Together we pause to remember the victims, to grieve with the families and friends of those who died, and to honor the heroes of that day and each day since who have sacrificed to save lives and serve their country

We too remember - we had a school trip that was due to fly to NYC in a few weeks time that was cancelled but Mum and I went ahead and flew to WDW a month later - they were not going to beat us.

Wow, I can't believe I have had 15 pages of catching up to do!

You can always hit Walmart when you get here to find one or I will be glad to pick one up for you if you are not picky what color.

We can pick one up for you this week if you want one. They were onsale at Target this week in the clearance aisles. I think they were 5 bucks apiece. Dont think there was too many colors to choose from.

Thank you both for the very nice offer, sorry for getting back on it so late ... But I would not want to give you the hassle of carrying that hanger to the ship for us, DH and I will just make a stop at Walmart or somesuch in Port Canaveral the day before the cruise, and see if we can get one. And if we don't, well, we will get by without one somehow :)

Annika - your wardrobe choices are fine - everybody wears stuff more than once. Same with DH - my brother is wearing a sport coat on formal night. Looking forward to meeting your 'to-die-for' DH! :thumbsup2

Oh well, I wouldn't mind if nobody but me finds him to-die-for, no competition is always good :rolleyes1

Another week . . . Another countdown :cutie:

We have . . . .

FRIDAY's until we sail :boat:

:yay: :cool1: :yay: :cool1: :yay:

Congratulations to those of you who have received your cruise documents :woohoo:

And, here's some pixiedust: for those of us who have yet to receive them

Hope everyone has a great weekend!
:flower3:

Yeah, I cannot believe how fast the weeks are flying by now! I am so, so ready for a vacation!

Thank you. Im wondring if who go there docs first as anything to do with in what order they booked.

Well we did book rather early, in May 2009, but seeing that others booked even much earlier, this does not seem to be the explanation.

Us too:woohoo::woohoo:!!!!!

I was starting to worry it was all a dream and I wasn't really going. I too agree, they are very nice!!

Congratulations on doing the doc dance! :cheer2:

Am I right that you were the last and that now everybody has finally received theirs? If not, I am keeping my fingers crossed for those of you still waiting and sending some pixie dust across the ocean! :wizard::boat:

Oh wow, I just realized that that was already my 400th post! :yay:
