Oct. 16-23, 2010 - Bring Back the Magic

For what it's worth....we have stayed the Friday night before at the Radisson now at least three times and taken the shuttle. Each time we have booked ourselve on the 10 am shuttle.......it also seems that each year it becomes more and more of a zoo at shuttle time!
There can be 3 ships in port on Saturday- the shuttle services all three. One year the first shuttle out was to Carnival for a wedding.
There is a ton of people out waiting for the shuttle at 10- many of which never reserved it and think they can just get on....They do have one guy with the list of names of who reserved the shuttle who tries to keep things in order, but you need to be proactive to make sure you get on if you reserved.

So...this year since we are travelling with friends and there are 8 of us...we are doing the "keep the rental-drop off at the port-return the rental" thing. This way we avoid the shuttle debacle and I dont start my day off frustrated.

Actually, I was thinking about that, since we will have a rental as well. I was going to drop it off before and take the shuttle, but maybe we should do what you suggest. Thanks!

10:15 Update - After hearing all of the drama with the shuttle, I made a management decision. I changed the rental car drop off time (didn't cost anything) so now I will drop Frank off at the port with the luggage, return the car and ride the Avis shuttle back to the port. Hopefully Frank is OK with this

I just finished reading a thread on the general cruise board that was talking about problems with the shuttle from the Radisson to the cruise terminal - scheduled for 10:00 pick up but didn't get to the port until 12:00 or later due to scheduling with other cruise ships in port.
Have any of you had an issue like this?

Only did it once and I don't remember a problem - neither do I remember what time we actually went.

I think Sunday's are worse because there is also a RCCL ship in port also. If it looks too bad Roger can take us over and come back for a shuttle!!!

Dan, we actually made our reservation for the 10 AM shuttle before you guys did. I remember something about Nancy called and they said it was too soon then I called and they took the reservation for us. I also made a reservation for Annika and Christian.

Good memory. That's exactly what happened.



I called DVC this morning to make sure we get a room on the first floor at OKW and hopefully not too far from the hospitality house. My foot hurts more than it did before the boot. I think it messed up my arch and toes!! I can't walk as well as I could a month ago. Not fun.

I am trying to coordinate meeting some friends that will be cruising on the Legend the same week we cruise on the Magic.....I was just told that Disney changes the time on the ship to match the PORT times....does anyone know if this is true??? I know the Legend stays on Eastern time and want to make sure I tell them the right times to meet us in Grand Cayman and again in Cozumel.....WOO HOO how cool is this??!!! Staff members on the Legend that we hung out with a few weeks ago are gonna come party with us again!!! CANNOT WAIT!!!

Sorry but looking at the schedule the Magic will also be joined on Saturday by the Carnival Dream (which is huge) and a new addition of a Norwegain Sun for the first time on a Saturday over where the Carnival Sensation usually docks. It will therefore be a pretty busy day at the port.

Port Canaveral, can actually have up to 6 ships at any given time. Terminal 8 which is Disney. 5 which is where the Sensation docks, and teminal 10 which is where the Freedom of the Seas docks, along with the Carnival Dream. Then theres piers 2,3 and 4 which are unoccupied,which is where the Magic docked in Feb, when she came home a day late, and where the casino ships used to be.

That's a good question - sounds like one for Ron I guess I never noticed because I'm just on 'vacation time'.

We will ride with Kathy and Frank and then we could get two #2 boarding passes and then all 8 of us can go on together. Kathy suggested that we get a picture of all of us boarding. I think that is an excellent idea!
