Oct. 15, 2006 (4 nights on the "New" Wonder)

SLIPPER

That is really neat Linda, I hadn't seen about the photomovies before thanks for sharing the link. I've had no time to visit the other forums lately :sad2:

pyjamas

:cheer2: The ice cubes look so cool, I have ordered some -thanks for the link Linda, that phote thing looks reallj good, but I am not very technical so Ian will have to take a look.

Kelly your wedding sounds like it is going to be wonderful, you are all going to have such a great time :yay:

Sue - where did you eat when you went to the Poly, I made ADR's for Ohana last night, we have never been there before and wondered if any of you guys have been and can tell me what it is like :Pinkbounc

Ferris Wheel (I have some pajamas with a ferris wheel on the shirt)

Jules, we did not eat at one of the indoor restaraunts at the Poly. We did that dinner that is outside and it is like a luau where you watch hawaiian dance and guys that juggle with flaming batons. Jane made the arrangements for that dinner and she got us very close to the stage. We did lots of cool stuff that year. We stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. We went to Discovery Cove. We ate a Medieval Times in Kissimee. Lots of fun stuff!

roller coaster

It sounds like you had lots of fun that year Sue, I have alwats wanted to stay at the AKL :Pinkbounc

Did you enjoy Discover Cove, we did it a few years ago and loved it - our dolphin was Dixie and she was a sweetie :fish: :fish: :fish: (nearest I could find to a dolphn) :rotfl2:

TRAIN

We did have a really good time at Discovery Cove. I don't remember our dolphins name  but we have some nice pictures of her. I have lots of good memories from that day! The water was so cold :cold: but the snorkeling was great!

OK you guys should be WELL impressed with me. Ive down loaded over 60 photos from last years trip onto the Disney movie sight. Its actually easier than I thought. You can sort them into "Chapters", like MK or Epcot etc. it takes loadsd more pictures in a slide type show, so im going to sort them over the weekend! Im so chuffed with myself!

wow we havent done Discovery Cove yet, Elouise is too young. Though Wayne surprised me with me being a dolphin trainer for the day at Wet and Wild in Cancun which was amazing fun!

I know I dont know you guys THAT well, however I have a dilema, I would appreciate your view point on.
OK elouises state school she is due to go to was always regarded as very good. However this year the OFSTED report ( goverment body) found quite a few faults in the junior year. 8 to 11 yrs. So doesnt effect Elouise directly, however this is her link school. The infants 4yr to 7 yrs, got a good report. I looked into sending her to a private fee paying school about 10 miles away. The costs are reasonable at £9,000 per year, however at juniors rise to £12,000 and senior school.... yikes I dont know but more! Anyway we cant afford this unless I go back to work full time. I went for an interview today and got offered a job, but the money I would earn would only just cover the school fees, uniform , after school care ( cos I wouold be working 8am to 7pm including traveling time)
Im just not so sure now that me working is the right thing. If she goes t the state school, I can walk her to and from school and be there to do home work etc. Also i think, I would be sad to miss out of school plays etc.At present working 16 hrs, I would never miss things like that. However I SO want to do the right thing for her. Time is running out to get her in the private school for Sep.
Im kind of going towards to State school, see how she goes and then pay for private tutoring, if and when needed. I know im a "pushy" mum, and i dont want her to stress about "performing", she is only 4 yrs old, but I do want her to get a good education.

OK...................... hit me with your thoughts..... please

STATION

Linda I don't have children so I have no experience to base this on. But I want to say that I think keeping her in state school at least for now and you having more time to spend with her would be my choice all the way. I think she sounds very bright and you both sound like wonderful parents and that is the most important! Whatever you decide will be the right decision though. Just my thoughts.

Bus

Hi linda. as you know Like Kelly, I have no children, so I am no expert on this. If it was me I would keep her in the state school and see how it goes, I believe that the time you spend with her is the most precious thing. It sounds as if the three of you have a wonderful family relationship and in every way that you have described her she sounds like such a happy and bright little thing. The hours in the new job you have been offered seem very long, and this is all time you could be spending with little Ellie. I dont know you but you seem a very caring mother, and I am sure from what I have gathered about you, that you spend lots of time together doing crafts and reading etc .... Keep her at the state school Linda, like you say she is happy at her school, and you could always get he some tutoring later on if necessary.

I know that you only wants what is best for her, and I don't think you are pushy at all, in my opinion the time you spend together as a family is the most precious of all ....

Hope you dont mind me having my two pennies worth :flower3:

hi!!

just piping in here to tell you about some of the fun we had on the "new" magic after dry dock last year!!!

because the ship had not been cleared by the coast guard, we did not board until 2pm...also there was still monir constrcution going on all over the ship so some areas were roped off...also, they did not fully restock their food so some items that are noramlly on the cruise were not available...

we all had a great time and it gave us more time at the terminal to meet our DIS friends....just wanted to prepare you a little about what may happen (but hopefully won't!!)

have a great cruise!!!

Stop

I'm back! I just got over a 48 hour flu or somthing, but I am better now.

Linda, It is difficult to answer you question as I do not know anything about the school system in the UK but here are my thoughts.
1. I Def. would not commit to so many hours away from Elouise in order to pay for a better education.
2. In the US kids often faulter in upper grades also. That is why I am homeschooling Alie.
If Homeschool is an option as it is here and you can work part time I would recommend that, If not then I would agree with everyone else, keep her in the state school but keep up with her progress and take further action later if she begins to fall behind. :goodvibes

txaggie94gigem thank you for your input. This was one of my concerns about sailing right after dry dock. I am glad that it worked out for you, it sound like you kept a positive attitude and did not let a few minor issues ruin an awesome vacation. :thumbsup2

Halt

 Hi Jane

Sorry to hear that you have been unwell, hope you are feeling much better now, here is a hug from me :grouphug:

* who goes there?* is this allowed seeing its more than 1 word?

Thanks everyone for your advice, :thanks: I really appreciate everyones views. We are both coming round to the idea of me staying part time for now, putting her in a state school, and seeing how it goes ( whilst obviously keeping in contact with her teacher for feedback)

Wow, I hope things dont get off to a poor start for us in Oct. I will be itching to get on. I wont handle anything going "wrong", very well. As this is the MAJOR ( most exciting, best planned etc ) part of our whole 3 weeks. Fingers crossed Disney will have learnt from this, and get our cruise sorted in plenty of time! They MUST have :mickeybar Mickey :mickeybar bars, please please, dont leave them off! Thanks txaggie94gigem for warning us! If you read this, out of interest what was "left off"?

Jane, gald you are feeling better now.......... another big hug sent from the UK to you ! :grouphug:

 Dick Turpin

Hi

Dont worry about it Linda there will be lots of Mickey bars I am sure, look on the bright side, the first year we cruised there was a hurricane Castaway was blasted and we weouldn't go there but we still had a fab time, I was gutted at the time though.

We sre going to have a fab time whatever happens, the Wonder will be gleaming, the bar and food stations will be topped to capacity, the weather will shine and everything will be perfect. Also, we will win at the footie tomorrow .... :cheer2:

I am glad to see that a positive attitude prevails! :teeth:
Lets hope they have learned from previous problems and will have everything in perfect shape when we are standing at the embark portal!

Have a great weekend everyone. Glad you are feeling better Jansie!!

:yay:

Dick and Jane
(I don't know Dick Turpin  )

Hi everyone.
Linda and Jules, So sorry about the quarterfinals! :sad2: I really wanted to see England win. Heatbreaking that England didn't prevail after double overtime!

Hugs to everyone

Thanks for the kind words, we are GUTTED!!!!

We had a big BBQ with all the neighbours, and we brought a HUGE paddling/swimming pool, big ehough for 12 adults ( up to their thighs) I PROMISED to jump in fully clothed, if England won. Elouise kept saying "mum are you going to jump in yet"
Elouise had her England shirt on ALL day ( and night !) and cried when we missed the shoot out ( To be honest so did I a bit) as we so wanted to have another party on Wednesday night with friends.

Still, Im trying to remember " Its only a game!"
Feel so down though, going into work today, to take all the flags down, and take off display all our England shirts etc.

The Mask

Thanks Sue, We were gutted too, we had a bbq, but it was just the two of us as our best freiends are in Tenerife and our other friends are in Devon, we made the most of it, and played England songs etc. But as u know we are in Wales and live next door to a rugcb club, they were chanting offensive Engligh songs which really did Ians head in :furious:

But we dranks and ate and made the most of it - it was enough to make us want to move back to England - only we love it here so much normally. There are some Portugese people who live across the street from us and today they had a flag which was about six foot high, you had to laugh and join in the spirit of things :cheer2:

* face pack * :rotfl2: .............Elouise asked when I had a face pack on, AGES ago, why I had a mask on my face!

Jules, Im glad you and Ian still had a BBQ and a few drinks. It wouls have been fun to turn up the tely really loud and drown out the abusive songs, IF we had won ! Why are people like that? I would never be rude to others if they supported a different team. Perhaps some friendly banter, but never abusive!
Oh well, its over now, so cant cry over spilt milk! didnt Beckham look so emotional to resign from Captain. Even will tons and tons of money, he and Posh have, I guess even he cant buy a place in the world cup final !

Following all your very sensible advice, Im off to Elouises State school parents evening tonights, to enroll her into the school formally. The more I think about it the more the points you and others have made, make even more sense. I guess I will learn about what school uniform etc I have to get. Im quite excited, but sad. shes growing up so quick!

Spa Treatment

Linda, did you get Elouise all signed up for school? It sounds like you made the right decision! :teacher:
