I was just checking availability for March 21-27 and the only thing that did not come up as available was the preferred sites. Tent/Full/Premium are still available as well as cabins. We are only 10 days away from that date...WOW! Maybe the Disney rates are taking their toll with the tight economy.

Another observation was that on the WDW website where you check rates, they listed pools that are currently under rehab along with the alternative pool by the resorts listing....FW has nothing listed by it.

No, I don't think so. Because all of the other rehabs mention either using the quiet pools at the resort or visiting the assigned alternative resort if you want a feature pool with slide.

We were originally reserved from the 22 - 26 and I called yesterday and added on to the 27th. Yeah, I was really surprised to be able to do that.

It doesnt suprise me that there would be sites still available- especially for what they are charging... I know we are coming in the following week and when I booked (over 2 months ago) there were only full or premium sites available for the week... so maybe its just that its the week before spring break?

Spring Break is really varied all over the US. Just in our town, Spring Break is this week and next week depending on which school district you come under.

It really does vary. Our local college had spring break 2 weeks ago!

I teach at a college here in Indiana and we are on Spring Break this week however my wife teaches 6th grade English and her break is in 2 weeks which is when we are heading to FW.

I just got back yesterday from a weekend trip to WL but stopped by to check out the Fort since we will be having our first camping trip at the Fort in 3 weeks and it was full, although it looked like a few loops were closed due to work. Maybe they finished earlier than expected and they came available. Our ressies are March 29-April 3 and so far I have been unable to get an earlier date, we wanted to come in a day or 2 earlier.

I think Disney is considering this upcoming week one of the main Spring Break weeks.

The hours are longer and everything seems to be nearly sold out.

For points purposes, DVC lists March 8-April 4 as "Peak Season" and April 6-15 as "Holiday Season" at Fort Wilderness.
