Obama's Speech

I thought it was a pathetic example of moral equivelency. He USED his own grandmother, and made public her private comments that she had trepidation of black men, and tried to compare them to the hate speech his pastor SELLS on the internet.

Racism is racism. It doesn't matter if it's spewed in pubic or behind closed doors.

I think some are bothered by the grandmother comment because it forces us to look at the racist in our own families.

How many of us are willing to cut off all ties with these family members?

Anyone remember the thread about racist family members that was on the CB a few months ago?

There isn't a reason to speak logical with an Obama-file... He's the second coming of Jesus. He does no wrong. If I was at a church and a Preacher started attacking gays, I'd walk straight out. I wouldn't say I condone his behavior. Obama gave an excellent speech and ATTEMPT to thwart the issue. His blind followers will turn the cheek and ignore his lies, hypocrisy, and deteriorating character.

If McCain had went to a church where the Preacher had made anti-black remarks, you better believe all of you Obamafiles would be all in a tizzy.

Ridiculous. Maybe Obama should have an email address where you guys can help him with the excuse making.

Sir Ron...you NAILED it!

And if Obama was such a proponent of racial healing, maybe it should have dawned on him before today when he finally admitted to hearing some of Wright's "controversial" speeches. I have learned today that Racial healing is only important when your political career is on the ropes.

So, if you make an occasional derogatory, stereotypical remark, in private, to another individual, about a white person, that's equally as bad and damaging as Rev. Wright selling a public video to thousands, filled with over the top hate speech?

I think you're confusing Obama with Clinton. ;)

:lmao: My point is ALL politiians are the same! Obama is no different.

To me the difference between the two is, (all based on past performance)Hillary will actually do good things for this country, and she is Selling herself as someone who can do they job. I know she can.

Obama is selling a "pipe dream", in which he is 'playing' with peoples psych, inducing unrealistic hopes and dreams. He is in no postion to fufill any of what he says. I do believe this is the ulimate nasty. Sort of like the teenage boy that tells his girfriend, he loves her, promises her the world. Then when the pregnacy test shows up positive...HE runs far away.

Try to explain to a teenage girl in love, why that boyfriend is bad.

I agree (again) with you Disneyjunkie.... we don't want to look at our parents or grandparents to realize the things they said and what they did. Of course we still love them, yet under this context hearing controversial things (not hateful things) is a crime by affiliation..... If people believe that, I feel sorry for them.

Were Rev. Wright's statements controversial, or hateful?

I have nooooooooooooo problem looking at racism anywhere. Obama hasn't said anything i did not already know (see posts at begininng of thread)

If I could i would severe ALL ties with racist family members. It just aint easy or in many cases possible to do. You are stuck with family, love em or not!

However ...racist Reverends...takes all of 2 minutes tops to walk out of that church, and never go back.

Yes - he did.

My vote is hateful.

I dont talk like that. I truly dont understand how anyone could possibly defend his words. MY GOD! His words about just this country 'deserving' 9/11 make me want to cry.

Your comment could be construed in more than one way. ;)

HATEFUL! Verrrrrrrrrrrrry Hateful!

Even more so when put in the context that he screamed it out from the pulpit on Christmas day, then proudly sold it on the internet for the almight buck!

Yes

Sorry, but I don’t' believe there is a racism hierarchy.

I don't keep track of or agree with everything that Jesse Jackson has ever said.:confused3

The reference to his white grandmother's racist bent sent me to her Wiki bio (Madelyn Dunham). There was a reference to a story in the Chicago Tribune that mentioned Senator Obama's paternal grandfather sent a long letter prior to his parent's marriage, complaining that his white mother would "sully" his father's blood. While he was reciting racist responses of people he would not repudiate, why didn't he mention that? According to the article she does not give interviews because she is in "poor health". Well, that comment should have made her day.

Bingo.

20 years ago, 19, 18, 17, 16 15, 14, ....you get the idea.

Get married by him... have his kids baptised by him.

This upsets me. I cant believe this isnt disturbing to some of you. Cuz no matter how this ends up, he's still my dang senator!!!
