Obama's Speech

Actually, I think the figure is more like 10.6 million dollars a year, 9th richest senator, well McCane is the 8th richest, so all's fair in love and money....

I agree with you on 9/11, the old adage, if we don't recognize our history we are doomed to repeat it comes to mind... How about we stay home and take care of our own instead of sticking our noses out where they aren't wanted. We go out espousing the views of Democracy when the world watches and laughs at ours, it looks quite bad from the International looking in. God forbid we should ever think about why we are perceived the way we are in the Middle East. We armed them, we initially trained them, we put Saddam in power, we forget all that.... history isn't something to be forgotten.
You are so right.
We litter the world with our puppets.
Decades later we act surprised when we they come back to bite us in the butt.

:lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2:

It's not a funny topic but your response was so funny I spit my drink out, could you perhaps warn me next time...

For those who question Pastor Wright's sermon i would like to know in all honesty how many of you can honestly say you never used the N word or called someone of another race a disparaging remark before?

What about your family members? Do they embrace every race with open arms, or do they judge people by the color of their skin? You might not want to admit it, but I'm pretty sure at some of those family gatherings the N word and other racist remarks are said without any regret on their parts.

Knowing that some of your family members feel this way, would you disown them? Would you stop loving them because you don't agree with their views? I doubt it!

That said, I appreciate the man Obama is. I appreciate the fact that he won't let thee anti obama's critics dictate to him who he should associate with! And for those who say you're judged by the company you keep, do all of your friends have stellar reputations and do they have skeleton free closets?

It was very honest and powerful.

:rotfl2:I want some of what you are drinking. If you listen to the content, and not the tone, it was a very eye opening speech as to what Obama is really all about. Very scary that this man could someday become the President of the United States.:scared1:

But, Obama has been exposed to this teaching from Wright for over 20 years and did nothing. If he wants to be the leader of the free world, should he not have taking his so called mentor to the side and taught him that what he was saying was wrong. If he can't speak one on one with his own minister, how in the hell is he going to be able to talk with other world leaders. After hearing this speech, it is more than apparent that Obama is nothing but a person surrounded in untruths. His followers will continue to drink from the same kool-aid cup and follow him to the edge of the cliff.:3dglasses

I thought the speech was very powerful, honest and truthful.
We can work together to change things or look at this one thing and debate it while ignoring everything else and we nothing will get solved.

I havent decided who I will vote for, I dont like how mccain has flip flopped on taxes and other issues to get his partys nomination. There are things that irk me about Hil and Obama but I will have to pick someone.

There was an article in our local paper written about Obama's church when the campaign first started. The article stated that Obama's church had 10 things that were needed to be a member in good standing or something to that effect....The 10 things were very anti white. I tried to find the article but can't find a link.

From Obama's Church, Trinity United Church Of Christ

The Black Value System

1. Commitment to God

2. Commitment to the Black Community

3. Commitment to the Black Family

4. Dedication to the Pursuit of Education

5. Dedication to the Pursuit of Excellence

7. Commitment to Self-Discipline and Self-Respect

8. Disavowal of the Pursuit of “Middleclassness” ***?

9. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the Black Community

10. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting Black Institutions

11. Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System

12. Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System.

If you substituted the word white for black this guy would be finished.

Change? Change what? Change how? If all you have to do is say I'm for change, vote for me, I'm going to run for President.

Another example of saying one thing and doing another. That is until he needs to put some spin control on it. Either that or whites are not an ethnic group in Obama's eyes

"I understand MSNBC has suspended Mr. Imus," Obama told ABC News, "but I would also say that there's nobody on my staff who would still be working for me if they made a comment like that about anybody of any ethnic group. And I would hope that NBC ends up having that same attitude."

Exactly! Change? Isn't this the same message we heard from Pelosi back in 2006? As I recall, she was going to take back the House and bring about 'change'.

I thought that the Dem's were going to end the war? Oh that's right, they decided to keep voting to fund it as long as they got to piggyback lots of useless spending on things they wanted. The war wasn't really the issue after all.

Oh my God, I cannot believe what I am reading on this thread by the Obama supporters. The things Reverand Wright said are so despicable and devisive that I am appalled that he can call himself a man of God. The fact that Obama sat there and listened to that man for twenty years speaks volumes, and now I understand why Michelle Obama felt comfortable stating that she finally felt proud to be a citizen of the US for the FIRST time. I do not want this man or woman to be the President and First Ladyof the US. I don't trust a thing Obama says. He is a first class panderer to the black community, but veils it behind his rose-colored rhetoric.

For the first time in my life I'm looking at my black friends and acquaintances and listening to their friendly, polite talk with me and wondering if what they're really thinking is that I'm a "whitey, the man, someone to secretly hate". If this is how Obama was going to bring us all together he is sadly mistaken. I really believe we are headed for another civil war, so to speak. If this man does not win the Democratic nomination for President, or even the Presidency, you will see hate and actions fill the streets like never before, in my opinion.

You, meaning Obama supporters, cannot tell me and have me believe, that if a white man or woman running for President had a pastor/mentor/friend/spiritual advisor such as Wright, who had inspired that candidate to be the person he is today so Obama has said, who inspired him to write a book, who brought him/her to Jesus, (what a joke that is, Wright even mentioning the name Jesus makes me want to vomit), that you would so be all over it saying the meanest, rudest, nastiest things, and calling for that person's head on a platter. I have never read or heard such hypocrisy, or should I say "blinders on", "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" talk in my life from Obama supporters. It is truly scary. All I can say is that I hope and pray every Conservative gets out there and votes on election day should Obama be the Democratic candidate. I've never been a political activist before, but believe me, I'm absolutely getting out there and giving my opinion this time.

:lmao: My point is ALL politiians are the same! Obama is no different.

To me the difference between the two is, (all based on past performance)Hillary will actually do good things for this country, and she is Selling herself as someone who can do they job. I know she can.

Obama is selling a "pipe dream", in which he is 'playing' with peoples psych, inducing unrealistic hopes and dreams. He is in no postion to fufill any of what he says.

I obviously disagree, but since you aren't a Obama supporter regardless, it's a lost cause to try and change your mind. ;)

It doesnt' matter what anyone says at this point ~ so I'm leaving this conversation now. :)

Here's the video - http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x4rh20_obama-imus_news

And another quote:
"He didn't just cross the line," Obama said. "He fed into some of the worst stereotypes that my two young daughters are having to deal with today in America. The notions that as young African-American women -- who I hope will be athletes -- that that somehow makes them less beautiful or less important. It was a degrading comment. It's one that I'm not interested in supporting."

Uh huh...and meanwhile Uncle Jeremiah is telling blacks that white people created AIDS to exterminate them. :sad2:

Perhaps this difference of opinion is the 'change' he is speaking about.

ITA with you about the speech. It was definitely the most honest talk on race relations that I've heard in my lifetime.

Perhaps this difference of opinion is the 'change' he is speaking about.

Good point, he speaks of "change" however his lack of action makes it merely words. He gets my vote as an orator, perhaps he can pull an anti-Reagan, give up politics and become an actor, he certainly has the talent for that. He will not get my vote for any position of power.

I think I learned something yesterday.

Obama is just another politician. He say and does the things he need to say and do to get elected. At one time (even though I was never an Obama supporter) I felt I was looking at our next President. I'm not so sure anymore. I'm very disappointed in him. I actually thought he was different. He's no different then the other 2. Everything he's ever done has been planned for his run for the presidency. Including picking this church.

Lump all 3 in a hat and draw a name.

You mean the conservatives who loved Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson who blamed 911 on the gays and women libbers?

Or all the politicians who embraced Billy Graham even after the tapes came out with anti-semetic statements being spewed by Graham?
