Damn the anonymouse polls!:rotfl2:

Some of the comments here led me to think back to when Reagen was the darlin' of the religious right. The guy virtually never attended church before becoming President unless it was for a funeral or a campaign event, and his wife consulted psychics and astrologers. Now he is among the venerated in the fundamental christian version of Mount Olympus. Makes ya wonder.

Personally, I'm curious because I'm seeing more of those who are Liberal gravitating towards McCain than I expected. I'm wondering why they're doing so (besides the understandable disgust with the Democratic Party).

Of course, DisUnc doesn't have to answer. :) I'm just mulling over a lot of things in my head right now so I might get a little nosy sometimes.

I think I am more liberal than conservative (especially in gay rights, etc). I am voting for McCain though. I think it is going to cost a lot of money to live under an Obama administration. I know there is the argument that the war in Iraq costs a lot of money, but I don't want to take care of everyone else in this country. I personally know a person who gets government money for their kid and are perfectfly capable of working but tell me they just don't want to work. I feel there will be even more people doing that if Obama gets elected.

:confused3
Yes, but he was more than just a "darlin' of the religious right". A lot of dems liked him too. Otherwise, how could he have carried 49 out of 50 states when running for his second term in office.

PUMA aside, do you still consider yourself liberal?

YUP! My big 2 issues are still having NHC & Getting out of this war.
But I dont think for a second Obama can & will do either.

We need a President for ALL the people.

IMO Bush was a President for just the Conservative people, this was his BIG mistake. He did not crossover to the other side. It was his was or the highway.
I see Obama doing the same thing. He will be a President for just the Liberal people, He will not crossover to the other side. It will be his way or the highway.

In these case nobody wins! Everybody looses.

DisUnc, I know that you've rejected the Democratic Party and I understand your reasoning. Do you still consider yourself a Liberal? There are so many things that I dislike about McCain's platform simply because I am a Liberal. I admit that I do lean a bit toward the moderate area though so I don't dislike McCain as much as some do.

ETA: Didn't mean to repeat someone else's question!

See above!

Why do y'all care so much how DISUNC labels himself? :confused3

People need labels!:confused3

Lots of reasons for that.
One is as I just mentioned that Obama will not crossover. The other is that the many HC supporters are FURIOUS with the DNC and how they handled the votes. I think the DNC SERIOUSLY miscalculated that effect.
Also lets be real here...In the past 3 Presidential races, the DNC gave us more Republican stereotype like Candidates. Gore, Kerry & Obama all come off pretty snobby.
While wheather you like them or not, Bush & McCain do come off as more as they 'guys" next door...stereotypical Democrat like.

He could be a double agent for all I care. :rotfl2: He's fun to have around though, and I'm glad we haunt the same places.

:thumbsup2 I'll second that.
Thanks!

Do you have any evidence to back that up?.
Just google "Obama lies"!

Also on the last Debate, (I am somewhat paraphrasing)he said very clearly "I Denounce Rev Wright"...when Stefanopolis said "REALLY you Denounce him"...Obama backed off and said "thats not what I said". To me it was a very defineing moment. Of course the Press did Harp on it at all.
But idf it was any other candidate, that would have been the nexts days headlines.

Also this is a doozey!

I believe what Rev. Jackson said was that the EVENT of a major party nomination of a black man was so historically significant that it should be added to the Bible. Not Obama personally because he's the second coming, as you would like us all to think. Besides, since when is a candidate or his supporters responsible for everything another supporter might say? :confused3 Especially considering the source of the quote, nobody has to denounce every off-the-wall thing that man says. :rotfl2: ?.

The article posted does quote Jackson.
With Obama it is different. There are many many MANY Religious type quotes about him, Pictures...the way many of his supporters regard him. This Obama phenom is not a one or two of a kind thing. This is defintely a concerned effort to elevate him to some type of Deity. I have never seen this of anyone...Heck The Pope wishes he can get this type of Promo.:lmao:

Um, that sounds more like a sexual attraction than a religious attraction to me!
:scared1: Thats for another thread...THAT I WILL NOT START!:lmao:
Can you imagine Walter Cronkite talking about JFK in that respect.

Since when does the term "the one" relate only to religion? :confused3
Not just the term...the WHOLE speech!

I don't know. Some of the fervor and venom with which some people oppose Obama seem more cultish to me, and again, I'm not an Obama supporter myself.
Fight fire with fire!:thumbsup2

Well bless my heart, you have finally gone over the edge. I guess it's all those chemicals in the green dye seeping into the grey matter..
 :lmao:

Please don't tell me that you are going to vote for Mr. Anti-choice, "keep wymams in their place" now that Sen Clinton has make her exit..
Abortion is here to stay ...NO ONE will turn it around! Anything reference by any politian otherwise is pure rederick.

And, along with being a stoopid quiestion, we all know that Coach K is the second coming..
Who is Coach K??????

:confused3

I don't think the Dems viewed him in the same way as the "religious right" did. While not quite the same magnitude, Clinton must have gotten a lot of Republican votes his second time around. BTW, Dole and Mondale got the same percentage of the popular vote, 40%.

The only way to truly believe this is to believe Bill did not have sexual relations with that woman, Saddam had weapons of mass destruction, and your eyes lied to you when you saw McCain wearing body armor on TV when he said he hadn't.

I'm so sorry that reality is biased against you. But keep lathering, rinsing, and repeating and you'll wash that reality right out of your hair.

Obama is a preacher, not a president.

Ok, I was gonna quote a bunch of you but this is just too over the top.
All the "messiah - second coming" references are ridiculous! People please!

Over the last few months I've gotten the stupid email from many "Christian" people, accusing him of being new age because Oprah is having a new age teacher on her show and she has Obama's ear. It says "just think how influenced he is by her!" :scared1:

This is believed and passed on despite the fact that Barak has said he is a Christian, that he believes in and has accepted Jesus. Is it because he's not a conservative Republican that his faith is questioned? No, it's not just questioned - he is actually called a liar. Why?

I don't believe exactly like my pastor or I'm sure anyone in my church, and certainly not like all my friends. Yes, we have a lot of beliefs in common but not everything... and if you stop to think about it you'd have to admit the same thing. So why would you think he would be any different?

Maybe he better make everyone fill out a 40 page questionnaire before they can endorse him - or even claim to know him - because he's gonna be blamed for everything they've done or said since Kindergarten!

But oh, Sen. McCain is believed! Even when he says over and over "Sen. Obama will raise taxes for every person in this country", (not true). Obama himself has stated more than once that he will not raise taxes for anyone who makes less than $200,000 a year. Of course why should what he says make any difference when everyone else can just put words in his mouth.

What ever zealous followers might do or say can not logically be blamed on him. I mean really... just look at the ridiculous things being said here by some of those who support other candidates. :duck:

It's only June and I'm already sick of all this hysteria.
Why is it so hard to believe Obama is just a dedicated man who cares?
:sad2:

So you can either think he is Jesus arisen or the devil? Is there nothing in the middle.
No, I don't think most people would agree with that statement. He is a man -- nothing more, nothing less.

But IF you are trying to "force fit" him into the book of Revelations and make him into one of the players in the End Times story, the choices are not good. He cannot be Jesus arisen; the Bible says that when Jesus comes back everyone will recognize him as the Messiah. Furthermore, Jesus is to return "in the twinkling of an eye"; that eliminates the possibility of a long, drawn-out election bringing Him to the public eye. So Obama cannot be Jesus "in disguise" -- not if you believe what the Bible says. That leaves only the AntiChrist or the False Prophet positions for him.

Personally, I'm not convinced that he's any of these things, but IF you believe he is, there is no other possibility -- unless, of course, you change what's in the Bible, and that would make no sense.
You do realize that when a former Presidential candidate claims that Obama should be added onto the Bible...and that he is SERIOUS.
How could any Christian believe that adding to the Bible is a good idea? Which of us is qualified to say, "You know, God didn't quite get it right; I think I'll just add a few chapters about this guy I think is pretty cool. Surely he's as important as David, Samuel, Noah, Job, Jacob and all those other dudes about whom God wrote! Yeah, I can add to God's word!" What's that verse that specifically forbids adding or subtracting from His word? I guess the good reverand ignores that one!

The only possible answer: Consider the source.

You're joking right?
Please tell me there's no way an intelligent adult like yourself could really believe this.

:sad2:

Maybe it is because he is a POLITICIAN -- and he has shown himself to be one through and through.

If Obama happens to get elected I will pray for him every day, and hope to no end that our nation survives his hopefully teeny tiny uneventful tenure without being totally economically and strategically crippled for generations to come.

Well, how well has your praying worked the last 7 and a half years? Or were you just a devout apostle and felt that it wasn't needed?

All these highly comical threads about Obama being the second coming, the anti christ, a communist, a terrorist, etc., alot of silly Republican giggling, and not a single one about any of Maverick McCain's positives. Not for nothing Conservatives, but I'm not loving your chances this November...

Well, then that puts the kibosh on the notion that "the same can be said about McCain supporters" as stated by a poster on page 1.
