Really? In the vast landscape of American history this is the worst thing? I didn't think you were prone to hyperbole.

Oh, I'm sure I could think of one or two things that were worse. Nothing's coming to mind right now...give me a day or two. ;)

Honestly, what do you want from me? There is a contingency of Americans who exist who basically think that the long held Democratic ideals (common sense ones, IMO) that Obama espouses is tantamount to his intent to lower the Iron Curtain on our borders, enslave the white race, tear up the Constitution and set up Soviet era breadlines across the nation. If they get to hyperventilate about such nonsense, then why the hell not me?

Nope, that's not obama. He can't even unite the Democratic Party! :rotfl:

I believe that was thought about McCain and the Republican party a few months ago...:confused3 Things do change in a few months.

I didn't answer the question. There weren't enough ooooo's in the stupid choice for me.

I was asked my opinion about this the other day by someone.I think because of how BO speaks and moves people. (I am not a BO fan at all but I do think he speaks well.)

But I think its a big jump to compare him to the second coming or the anti-christ. And most people that have studied that at all and/or believe in the second coming, which I do, believe that the antichrist will rise out of a location amidst the nations of Western Europe. According to interpretations of Daniel 7 anyway.

So I don't think we have anything to worry about on that front. I think we should worry more about the things he stands for and all this "change" he keeps calling for. We may be wishing for a second coming once he's done with all our pocketbooks.

Btw, who was it again that the religious right was so ga-ga about 8 and 4 years ago? Talk about a second coming hysteria.

I know for sure I'm not voting for the man. I just wonder how he became a Presidential candidate? One day he's on Oprah, the next day he's running for President? I just can't believe in a crucial election year these two candidates were the best we could do. I say that for John McCain also. I'll be voting for McCain but not that happily. My aunt who is a Democrat will not vote in this election. I'm finding alot of people like her.

Well said.....Maybe I'm crazy....I live in a state where living is one of the highest in the land.....Gays are OK.....Lots of business around....and Obama is a breath of fresh air.....
Why is it that the blue states endure the most....and yet they stay blue:confused3

...and still, the point is totally lost on you. Wow!

Yeah...no kidding. I can get beyond your not supporting Obama, but why you'd throw your lot in with this crew is beyond me.

I see him for what he is, not for what you HOPE him to be.

Mentally ill and addicted to drugs is "EXACTLY" how you see Obama??? I can see disagreeing with his platform or positions on certain issues, but calling someone things that are totally ridiculous and unfounded is a little over the top don't you think?

What good is agreeing or disagreeing on his platform when I think he is the biggest pathological liar to come in a loooooooooong time. I dont know what the psychological term is...but What he says & what he does is vastly different.

The problem here is he "sweet talks"...tells you want you want to here. There is nothing in his background to suggests that he can even remotely do what he says he can.

Was Huckabee's bookcase cross in his Christmas ad also "no accident?"

Disunc, this isn't directed towards you personally, but I remember plenty of people insisting that Huckabee's cross was unintentional, and I'm sure some of them would be the first to nod and agree with you about Obama's "O".

Of course, I don't expect anyone to admit to such hypocrisy.

That cross was blatant sublimal message also!

At the beginning of this whole primary process, both Obama & Huckabee were my least favorites.

:sad2:

I am amazed that threads like this are allowed to go on; full of personal attacks and blatant pot-stirring. The OP has called Barack Obama a psychopath, a drug addict, a liar, and a con man before..

Yes I have.

You should not be amazed. Much too OS'ers dismay I do not believe the DisBoard rules state..ONLY PRO OBAMA threads!

T
threads like these usually arise from "concern trolls," users that post their "concerns" about someone/something in an attempt to defame them, all in the name of innocence. I fully believe that the OP's intentions and actions shown throughout this board, and more recently, throughout this thread fall in line with that description.

yeah...So? :confused3

Besides..I am not "innocent" nor pretending to be. Just interested to see if Obama supporters think he is the second coming.

You do realize that many people who dont support Obama, are very much preturbed by the overall love & devotion showed to this relative unknown. Hence the 'cult-like" phrases.

You do realize that when a former Presidential candidate claims that Obama should be added onto the Bible...and that he is SERIOUS. And that Obama supporters have remained silent on this, as well Obama. When a major newscaster tells of getting "tinglings" in his thighs! :scared1: When Major influential Talk show host claims him to be "THE ONE", and again Obama supporters dont denounce this type of religious fervour, this leaves us Non Obama supporters to think."Yup this is a Cult."

It not excatly like Obama is trying to turn down all the relgious affirmation he receives. In fact he may be basking in in.

I thought that cross was intentional. If you try to see the photo w/o the cross though, he just seems lost in the darkness of the clip. I was more taken with the Hidden Mickey that I saw than with the cross.

Isn't it just so wonderful how the divine Obama is going to bring this nation together? You can just see it happening here on this thread.:lmao:

So you can either think he is Jesus arisen or the devil? Is there nothing in the middle. I am an Obama supporter and will be voting for him, but I don't actually believe he is God. I think he is a good man trying to do the best he can for a country he loves and I see him as reasonable enough to do some good things. So go ahead and call me vile names.

I see him for what he is, not for what you HOPE him to be.

As I said, I can understand your lack of interest for Obama. It just seems you're spending a lot more time around the Conservative Board lately. I know you're done with the Democratic Party, although I assume you'll write in Hillary, but honest question, do you even consider yourself a liberal anymore?

What is all the religious fevor surrounding Obama?

The faith healer for our time

Barack Obama, without a church since he abandoned the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's congregation of addled bigots, racists and conspiracy nuts, ought to consider starting his own. Having never been inside a church, many of his disciples regard him as the messiah.

He's ready to rock. "A light will shine through that window, a beam of light will come down upon you, you will experience an epiphany," he told a raucous rally of the rapt in Lebanon, N.H., back in January. "You will suddenly realize that you must go to the polls and vote for Obama."

Another rally the other night outside Washington reflected the fervor of a 19th-century brush-arbor revival. A shopkeeper in Virginia was typical: He closed his store early, inspired by the senator's "values and integrity," to get there early because he's been busy "intending" victory for the senator. He has been "intending" since Iowa, explaining to the Weekly Standard that "intending" is the spiritual practice of "intending" something to happen. "But we don't pray or do any weird Kool-Aid drinking stuff like that."

Some of the Obama faithful think it's necessary to amend the Bible. "I cried all night," Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. of Illinois told Politico, the Capitol Hill newspaper. "I'm going to be crying for the next four years. What Barack Obama has accomplished is the single most extraordinary event that has occurred in the 232 years of the nation's history ... The event is so extraordinary that ... another chapter could be added to the Bible to chronicle its significance."

Relics of the new religion are highly venerated (though some Obamanuts are looking to venerate on the cheap). When he left a half-eaten waffle and a scrap of pork sausage (no Muslim here) on his plate at a diner in Pennsylvania, a waitress carefully wrapped the plate - "with his DNA on the silverware" - and put it up for auction on eBay with instructions to start the bidding at $10,000. It actually sold for 99 cents, and the winning bidder had to pay $6 postage (but got the DNA at no extra charge).

The German weekly Der Spiegel, Rolling Stone and the New Republic have featured Obama as messiah on their covers, and celebrities are racing each other to terminate skeptics with extreme piety. Eve Konstantine, a certified Georgetown guru, calls him "the collective representation of our purest hopes." Chris Matthews, the famous cable-TV shouter, isn't the only celebrity who feels something (chiggers? bedbugs?) crawling up his leg at the mere thought of Barack Obama. "This is bigger than Kennedy," Chris says. "This is the New Testament."

..........................

Anyone who inspires such zeal among the unchurched, the irreligious and the irreverent is a phenomenon we haven't seen since Aimee Semple McPherson blazed a sawdust trail across the American firmament (or at least across a big revival tent) eight decades ago. If the senator has not quite evolved to messiah, he's got a profitable future in faith-healing. Who needs universal health care? He's wasting his time in politics.

I'll take door #3 ....................What a stooooooooopid question!

You can't make this stuff up. :lmao:

Btw, who was it again that the religious right was so ga-ga about 8 and 4 years ago? Talk about a second coming hysteria.

Weird thing is, profdsny, none of them seem to remember the experience. My only conclusion to the group amnesia is that it must not have been so much a religious fervor as an alien abduction. I'll leave it to the rest of my Democratic brethren to come up with jokes about anal probes...

Saint Ronnie Reagan ............. they're still trying to bring him back from the dead. :lmao:

If Obama happens to get elected I will pray for him every day, and hope to no end that our nation survives his hopefully teeny tiny uneventful tenure without being totally economically and strategically crippled for generations to come.
