Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

It works both ways. Do you not see some of the nastiness here? Do you really only see this sunshine and hope and not the constant vitriol directed at Hillary? Some of it is deserved, I don't deny that, but a lot of it borders on outright hatred and is just vicious. So truly it works both ways.

While I think we probably all sometimes get a bit heated when it comes to Hillary, as others have said, it is never directed at the intelligence of her supporters or questioning the real reason why you support her.

This, to me,is the distinction: negative comments about a public figure running for the office of president. I've not seen comments on this thread attacking the intelligence, belief systems, etc. of supporters of HRC.
Only a few pages back:

"I am surprised at how I view some of these posters now. Even on the non political threads I just think of them as mean spirited, close-minded, word twisting individuals."

That's just a start. But I don't want to get into the "he said, she said" stuff so I'll stop there. I still maintain that it happens on both sides.

I will try to answer this but I'm probably an idiot for doing so.

I don't doubt that many McCain supporters feel that Hillary is more beatable. They talk of a mystique that many Obama supporters seem to feel he has and they don't really know how to deal with that. (Who does?) They can also attack Hillary for things her husband has done.

Some Conservatives have a different outlook though. Keep in mind that in dear old Texas I'm surrounded by them. They really don't have much faith in McCain and they believe that Hillary is nowhere as Liberal as Obama. That is arguable of course but that's what I've been told.

Nothing scientific here but how much of this prattle is anyway?

I tend to agree with your comments, so if you're an idiot then that makes at least two of us. :teeth: I guess I just wanted to hear it from a Hillary supporter because there seem to be some that think the extreme right wing suddenly has the best interests of the country at heart, rather than their own. Thanks for the honest answer, as it really is appreciated.

But, as others have mentioned already in response and as I've said time and time and time again, we are criticizing HILLARY, not the people, such as yourself, that support her. The people over there that we've had problems with have criticized us. Oh, they'll whale away on Obama too, but that's to be expected, even if we don't agree with it. But I can easily deal with someone who is critical of my chosen candidate. That's not the case when someone dismisses my political opinion as uninformed and inspired by nothing more than pretty words and false hope...that we are nothing more than kool aid drinkers who blindly follow our "mesiah". If you look through the Hillary thread, starting from the beginning, you simply can't miss those classifications of Obama's supporters. Frankly, I think that makes all the difference in the world.

Again, this is about a very few Hillary supporters, whose names won't be mentioned because nobody wants to attack another poster personally. Nobody here has made the kinds of blanket statements about Hillary supporters that have been made, repeatedly, about us.

Oh no, you mean that that word "some" is causing all of the problems again? Remember when that came up in another thread. :lmao:

I see such statements and they sound and feel personal to me because I don't who they're directed at or if they're even specifically directed at anyone in particular. I am extremely careful to use that pesky word "some" nowadays but I might have let a few comments without slip through myself. I guess that I myself need to pay more attention to the word.

Bottom line-no matter who we are supporting we have to remember that those who chose the "other" candidate did the same research and put the same amount of thought into their choice as we did. Criticism of a candidate's choices-fair game. Criticism of a candidate's supporters-not cool.

99% of us are already doing that-if we refuse to respond to the baiting of those that choose NOT to respect the "other", I think we can have much better discussions.

PS...the ignore button works wonders!!

While I am sure that neither you nor I are being singled out as a "mean spirited, close-minded, word twisting individual", I can't help but feel that I am being hit by those words peripherally just because I share the same political views as the intended victims. I don't see a whole lot of difference between a Clinton supporter who says "All Obama Supporters ..." or an Obama supporter who says "Some Clinton Supporters ..." as the words after still hurt.

I don't think the injecting the word "some" excuses it though and I know more that a few times it has been directed and one poster. I just don't see the need for it.

I think your fabulous. ;)

Hey, who do you guys think Obama would pick as a running mate? I like the idea of Jim Webb, Biden, or Dodd on the ticket actually. I would like Powell to serve as a cabinet position.

I want Biden in there somewhere. I think he's a got a brilliant mind.

I'd love to see Joe Biden and John Edwards somewhere in the cabinet.

I think Jim Webb would be a good balance for vp.

Can't wait until this primary season is over and Obama gets the nomination.

I'd like Edwards somewhere in the administration but don't think he should be VP - I know this isn't popular with everyone, but I'm not really a fan of his.

(cowering away slowly :rotfl: )

No, need to cower away, Tim. We still like you. :thumbsup2 But I would not mind Edwards as VP. He was my first choice at the start of the campaign. Gee, doesn't that seem as though it has been an eternity since super Tuesday?

OMG, yes. And to think the VA primary was 2 months ago is nuts!
