MoveOn.org joined forces today with Academy Award-winners Ben Affleck, Matt Damon and Oliver Stone, multiple Grammy-winner John Legend and author Naomi Wolf to announce a new ad contest, "Obama in 30 Seconds." The contest provides a platform for Obama supporters to show in 30-second spots what inspires them about the Senator's candidacy. MoveOn will buy time to run the winning ad on national television.

I'm still trying to make a point-but I'll probably walk away soon too and let everyone be outraged together.

I'm sorry, but I just don't care what church a candidate attends or if they attend one at all. I can't work up any outrage for it, and I don't care which candidate it is. I feel sad that John McCain felt he had to kiss the butts of those right wing preachers, I feel sad that Romney felt he had to give a speech to show how he thought non-Christians were just as bad as everyone else does-even though he's a Mormon and most of his audience didn't even consider him a "real Christian".

I wish we could just leave religion out of the whole Presidential process-but as I learned on my own thread yesterday, there are still too many people who will never vote for a non-Christian.

Well, I don't think I would call Jesus black, but he wasn't white either.

Sadly, I disagree about the 'preacher' thread. I think this is exactly what will keep many fence sitters from voting for Senator Obama. He's going to have to do or say something to shut this mess down. Even then I don't know if it will help. The first video or rather the one linked to first in the thread Fits referred to doesn't go over the line (for me) but some of the others do. Senator Obama has a problem.

I agree with exactly what you've said... Who knows if Jesus was black OR white, I don't think the bible ever made reference to it... but it just doesn't matter.

As for me, I don't like preachers in general... I grew up in a very right wing home and believe me those Evangelical preachers whipped everybody up, I just had no room for it in my life, but that's just me... As long as someone isn't out to change the constitution based on their religious belief's I'm okay with it...

I'm with you there. I grew up Catholic, and we never got all "whipped up" like you say, I never went to that kind of church. It doesn't do anything for me to see someone speaking that way.

Well, we'll see what he does with it... the preacher is retired, and we have no idea how often Obama went to church. It doesn't surprise me he would choose a church on the South side of Chicago, which is, where he tried to affect change in the first place... if you look at the majority of people who probably go to that church, they are disaffected, disenfranchised... we'll see.

Just heard there will be a debate in PA, as well as possibly NC... just came across MSNBC...

Well, you are lucky on the whipped up front then... DH grew up Catholic, Irish Catholic... he had a different problem... he was an alter boy but as he jokes wasn't pretty enough (That's his joke).... About 7 years ago one of his classmates was driving with a meat cleaver in his BMW headed right for the priest's house for reasons you can imagine.... it's all come out since then, but DH suspected stuff growing up there.... So you can imagine the two of us getting married LOL... there was no church service as you can well imagine!

This is why I don't let religion bother me so much, I think.... I see flaw's all over the place... who am I to judge?

It's out there. He does need to address it. I don't think it's an issue for him as long as he does so.
