Obama supporters! - A positive place to talk about his campaign

This just gets better! Sorry about your children, but there are a lot of people between the ages of 22 and 28 who are well informed. And last time I checked, blacks were allowed to vote and give a candidate delegates. They are citizens too right? And FYI, I doubt you are the only one on either side of the aisle who has worked their but off for the past 30 years. I for one have been working and paying taxes for well over 35 years!

Yes Mike, but Obama is suppose to stand for change, and voting for someone because strictly because they are the same color as you is not change. If the majority of Obama supporters could tell me why they are voting for him other than because, let's see: he looks presidential, he seems nice, he wants change, he speaks well, then maybe I could take them seriously.

We will see which 50% of you are passionate about your candidates. ;) I some irony that Republicans may get to 'choose' your candidate.

I do find that astonishing. I don't take anything away from Hillary, but do wonder if Rush Limbaugh's call to TX Republicans to vote for her made much of a dent in the final tally?

He got my vote in the primary, and we do not have the same skin color. I for one can look past the color of a mans skin. But as far a change goes, heck ya, I'm all for a black man or a woman in the White House! Older white men have been running the show for far too long!

Perhaps someone's in the running for Ms. Congeniality for the Republican Party?

It's working so well for her. :lmao:

Is Ann Coulter stepping down?

If you could make a post without saying that all blacks are racist or that all kids are lazy, maybe someone would take your request seriously.

Seeing as you've insulted the entire black population of this country and all of the 20 year olds, sticks and stones indeed.

Really?? How have I insulted them? I see. I'm a white, middle aged woman, therefore I don't have the right to talk about my concerns. When did stating a fact, such as Obama is getting the majority of the black votes, become an insult? Oh wait, you're going to tell me that they are voting for him because they think he's the better candidate, right? If so, I've got a bridge to sell you.

Plenty of Obama supporters on the DIS have said why we prefer him. You obviously don't pay attention. :rotfl:

Frankly, I'm tired of that argument. What does McCain stand for? To be honest, I don't know. He's pandered so much to the right lately I don't know what he has planned.

I don't have a problem with black voters. I have a problem with racism, meaning the huge numbers voting for Obama strictly because he is black, and I have a problem with young voters voting for someone because it's cool, or "because we want change, change, yea change". Oh and by the way, sticks and stones, you know??

Racism is concluding that a black person is voting for a black candidate only because they are black.

I'm guessing you had a problem with the Civil Rights movement too, since it was all about black people supporting other black people and young people wanting change.

I haven't said that and you know it. I don't think all kids are lazy. I do think that how one feels in their twenties is alot different than how they feel in their fifties. Alot of stuff happens during those 30 years. Young equals idealistic in alot of ways. That is what I am saying. They haven't really lived life yet and they want to believe. I just hate that they also have a tendency to follow the crowd, jump on the "cool" bandwagon, etc. If that is being insulting then I'm sorry. That is not my intention.

Also, I am not saying all blacks are racist. You cannot refute the fact that they are excitedly going with Obama because they are excited that a black man is running for President. I get that. I don't think it shows that Obama is "the man" or the right person to run this country at this time.

My 21 year old DN and her friends in Ohio would be very quick to list their reasons for voting for AND volunteering for Senator Obama. She gave me his second book to read, and suggested I pay particular attention to the chapters on the Constitution.

Oh, BTW-DN is white. Some of her friends might not be, but I only know them by their names, she doesn't identify her friends by color.

If it were just a color of his skin issue, then Jesse Jackson would have done much better in his first two runs.

I think we were all (Obama and Clinton supporters) complaining about super delegates!

Unfortunately - the supers are going to have to decide this contest. Neither candidate is going to have the required delegate count to win the nomination without their support. So of course, there's going to be a fight for them - and one side will not like the outcome.......

But - yes - you did hear me complain about the TX system! Why people have to vote TWICE is beyond me. :confused3 Does seem unfair that Clinton will have won the popular vote - but not be ahead in the delegate count there - such is the way of Texas......... There - though - the supers could rectify the problem - and vote for the person who won the popular vote....... ;) I wink because if it were the other way around - and it was Hillary with the more delegates - I'd probably feel differently.......

Oh - and thanks for showing us the LOVE........ Sometimes we feel like outcasts on the Liberal thread ..........

going back to the Hillary thread.........
:drive:

...and we all continue to compalin about them. I just see that now, there are a few who are less negitive on the super process, saying, well, let's just see how this plays out now.

I understand that the Democratic system has been set up from day one, and I'm 100% for playing by the rules. If Hillary loses the delegate count but wins the nomination because the supers throw support her way, and to be honest, that's the only way it appears that she can win now, I will still proudly pull the lever for her come November. No hard feelings to be sure. I'd just prefer to be pulling the lever for my man, Barack.

Oh, and as far as showing you the love, I was wondering when you guys noticed that quite a few of us came over and congratulated Hillary on the Clinton Thread last night. I think we all should start taking steps to insure you guys that all Obama supporters aren't cocky, Clinton bashers. I'd say if anything, those folks are in the very small minority...

Yes, that is the definition of racism, and that is what is happening. Sorry if you can't see that. It's wrong, period, and there we go, let a white person, God forbid, say anything about how possibly blacks are going with Obama mainly because he is black, and all of a suddent I'm against the Civil Rights movement, and whatever else derogatory you want to say. The Civil Rights movement was about all people supporting each other and about all people being equal, which also means that I have a right to say that I think it is not right that there is racism blatantly going on in this election, and it's not by me!

I most certainly can refute it. After you have personally interviewed every black Obama supporter you can come back here and claim to know why they are voting for their candidate.

I could say that you are voting for McCain because he's old, white, and terrified of change, just like you. But that would be generalizing. I don't know why you are voting for McCain (and I don't care, so please don't tell me.)

Just like you don't really care why people support Obama. You only care about making generalizations that support your own staggering narrow-mindedness.

In 2006, voters in Ohio had a choice between Democrat Ted Strickland and Republican Ken Blackwell for governor. Blackwell got only 20% of the black vote. Which one of them was the white guy? Strickland. Blackwell is black.

I'm really sorry you feel that way. I do care why people are supporting Obama. One thing I've learned about many Democrats is that they resort to name calling when they are not agreed with.:)

Have you personally spoken to all black supporters of Obama? Have you personally spoken to any black supporters of Obama?

YOU DO NOT KNOW that every black voter chose Obama because he is black. You cannot see into the hearts and minds of other people.

I'd mention what many Republicans resort to when they are afraid they are losing....but I'd probably get points.
