I'm really sorry you feel that way. I do care why people are supporting Obama. One thing I've learned about many Democrats is that they resort to name calling when they are not agreed with.:)

But according to your own words, the reason you care is because you think Obama supporters are uneducated, unemployed and black.

I'm disgusted that you feel that way.

Sorry to intrude on this thread...as you know I am not a supporter ;) I do have one question though.

How is supporting someone racist? Really curious. I mean not liking someone solely for their skin color is racist, but being supportive is also racist?

Disclaimer: I am not saying that black voters are voting for Obama because of the color of his skin. I am just truly cruious about this definition of racism.

I haven't said that and you know it. I don't think all kids are lazy. I do think that how one feels in their twenties is alot different than how they feel in their fifties. Alot of stuff happens during those 30 years. Young equals idealistic in alot of ways. That is what I am saying. They haven't really lived life yet and they want to believe. I just hate that they also have a tendency to follow the crowd, jump on the "cool" bandwagon, etc. If that is being insulting then I'm sorry. That is not my intention.

Also, I am not saying all blacks are racist. You cannot refute the fact that they are excitedly going with Obama because they are excited that a black man is running for President. I get that. I don't think it shows that Obama is "the man" or the right person to run this country at this time.

How do you wrap your theories around that fact that Obama gets the vast majority of affluent Democratic voters and majorities of white men? Are they racists like the black voters or naive like the youth vote? If you want to cherry pick only the, apparently in your POV, "negative" trends in voting for Obama, then why should anyone listen to your opinion anyway?

Have you personally spoken to all black supporters of Obama? Have you personally spoken to any black supporters of Obama?

YOU DO NOT KNOW that every black voter chose Obama because he is black. You cannot see into the hearts and minds of other people.

You are totally right. I don't know that. Let's just say that I hope that people are strictly voting for Obama because they feel he is the right man for the job.

You don't have to listen to my opinion. I also thought I heard that Hillary won the majority of the white male vote in Ohio. You won't like my opinion, nor do you want to hear it, or why I think that Obama, in your opinion, gets the "vast majority of affluent Democratic voters or majorities of white men".

For the record, not that any of you care, nor should you, LOL, what I would like to see is the doing away of the caucases and the way delegates are awarded in the primaries. I am not racist, I vote for whom I think will do the best for the country, and I believe that all primaries should be held on the same day, and winner take all.

Teresa, please read the title of this thread.....

A POSITIVE place to talk about his campaign. If you dont have anything positive to say, please start your own thread....

Thanks!

Those aren't my opinions. It's what polling shows, the same polling that you have read that says that Obama also gets the youth and black vote.

I've heard people say that they are voting for him because they feel 'white guilt' and now can even things up. My MIL is voting for Hillary only because she's a woman. She couldn't tell you a thing about Hillary's platform, she just knows that a woman is running and 'it's about time.' It's just sad to me that someone will make such an important decision based only on the physical, while otherwise being completely uninformed. FTR, I'm a 30 yr old white woman who voted for Obama because I've done research on his platform and he falls in line with my beliefs.

I'm not sure it's really racism or genderism, just stupidity to vote based entirely on someone's skin color or gender.

ETA: I am not agreeing with Theresa, I'm just repeating what I've heard. There have been many years of people voting for the wrong reasons. Didn't some people say they voted for Bush because he seemed like someone who they could have a beer with?

Then good on ya! You feel right at home in the Republican party and obviously you've made the choice that's right for you.

My best friend voted for Clinton yesterday. She essentially did so because she's a woman, and it's really important to her to have a woman President. But she says she may very well vote for Nader in November. :confused3 A female co-worker told me yesterday that she voted for Hillary because she "has a feeling". I didn't get the feeling, apparently.

But I do understand that since Barack and Hillary are running on very similar platforms, many Democrats may not care so much about their political differences, as they are relatively minor.

Okey doke.:wave2:

You would be most welcome over at the Conservative thread with your Obama Bashing. Of course, now that the race is tightening up they are also bashing Hillary quite a bit....

I agree. I still think that we all will vote for the "Dem to be named later" come November.

You know, I'm not all that concerned about Barack getting bloodied up a bit. You know from here on out, McCain and Clinton will be tag teaming him for the next 8 weeks, give or take. If Obama can withstand that barrage, he can make a very good case to any superdelegates who might be wavering that he stood in, took the blows and is still standing tall. I'd imagine that that would be a far more compelling arguement than something as arbitrary as momentum.

That's somewhat true for me - they do have very similar stances on many things. I prefer Obama because 1) I think we need fresh blood in the oval office - too many Bush and Clinton years already and 2) I don't like Hillary's idea about garnishing people's wages to provide healthcare. My mom is working poor and cannot afford healthcare. If you were to take anymore of her wages away she would not be able to afford gas to get to work, which would just make things worse.

Regardless of who gets the nomination, I'll happily vote Democrat in November, I would just prefer to vote for Obama.

Frankly, I'm tired of that argument. What does McCain stand for? To be honest, I don't know. He's pandered so much to the right lately I don't know what he has planned.

Which McCain? The 2000 or the 2008? :rotfl:

I don't know but every time I hear him say "My friends" I cringe. It sounds almost sinister the way he says it.

He sounds like he was body snatched. He's such a different candidate than he was 8yrs ago (not better)

Can I just say I'm glad to have the ignore feature? It's really quite useful this morning....

Anyhow, Hillary had a net gain of delegates between 3 and 10 yesterday, I think it's not time to wipe Obama out as some would love to do, and some have been doing right along.

People vote for personal reasons, I have a friend also that voted for Hillary because she's a woman, she has no idea of any issues. I have a neighbor who voted for Hillary because she didn't want to vote for a Muslim, there was no convincing her that Obama was not Muslim.... I'm a white woman, I voted for Obama based on the issues, and his life experiences... He's had 20 years of life experience that IS relevant... He has more legislative experience between the State and Federal level than his rival, so I hesitate to see how anyone can claim otherwise.

If going negative is what someone has to win an election, believe me they are not getting my vote under any circumstance. You can debate the issues, but when you throw the kitchen sink out there, whether you have the experience to back it up or not, well, that's negative. When you start mocking the people who vote for your rival, that's personal and it's negative against everyone who has cast a ballot for your rival. That's a deal breaker for me.

If it's a choice between Clinton and McCain in November, I'll be casting a ballot for Nader, at least he is the voice of the economy, but has no chance of winning.
