:rotfl: Yasmina. My DH has complained (several times) that this Obama guy is getting more of me than he is. I do just want to hug the guy though. He and his message make me happy.

Oh, I totally agree!

BTW, we ended up watching the last half hour of "Man of the Year" last night. We saw it before, last Jan. when we went to DC for the March on the Capitol. When Dobbs made his speech giving up the presidency, it reminded me EXACTLY of Obama. Literally, the msg. of change, no more corporate interests, lobbyists, etc. I swear Obama got his message from this movie.

Today's San Juan Star (local English newspaper).

Hillary has a 13 point lead over Obama.

Time to do more translating... argh.

It takes time-we know you're working hard to get the facts out to the folks.
Please remember we're cheering for you!! :goodvibes

Here's a quickie tabloid sized ad I just made... for newsprint and for signs to put up on lampposts, walls, etc.

That's awesome pr surfer. Is it being funded by the campaign or local donations? We aren't allowed to post on any state/city owned property here, but we have quite of few home and business owners (strategically placed for good traffic flow) that have been very receptive to posting signs for us.

Any PA people here? Your local offices need phone and canvassing volunteers, especially in the Erie area. Even a couple hours helps. http://pateams.barackobama.com

pr surfer, you are an inspiration to all of us, I know I was involved with work up here, but we were always winning the state which made it much easier... I did phone banking into other states as well, but I really should be doing more.... Perhaps I will make more calls tomorrow!

And I forgot....

Everyone check with your local Obama offices or state headquarters for the Obama Nation for Change coast to coast rally, coming to you on the 19th!

It's being funded both ways here. I'm going to be discussing the laws pertaining to this with an attorney tomorrow or next week to clarify what the rules are. I am under the impression that it's ok to put ads on lampposts as long as the lights aren't obstructed. I also know there are places around the towns decicated to have ads, so I'm going to target those as well.

Thanks for the heads up Noel and I love the designs pr surfer. :thumbsup2

Obama calls for shareholder say in executive compensations. :worship:

Obama calls for checks on executive pay By JIM KUHNHENN, Associated Press Writer
1 hour, 51 minutes ago

INDIANAPOLIS - Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is prodding his populist economic message Friday by demanding that company shareholders have a say in how much executives get paid.

Obama, in remarks he planned to make to reporters Friday morning, wants Congress to pass legislation he has sponsored that would require corporations to have a nonbinding vote by shareholders on executive compensation packages.

Under Obama's legislation, shareholders could not veto a compensation package offered to an executive and would not place limits on pay. Rather, they would have a means to publicly express their position.

A similar bill passed the House last year.

The Illinois senator's comments come as he embarks on the third day of a four day-swing through Indiana, which holds its primary May 6. Obama and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton are running even in the state and have both been making economic pitches to voters.

"This isn't just about expressing outrage," Obama says in prepared remarks. "It's about changing a system where bad behavior is rewarded so that we can hold CEOs accountable, and make sure they're acting in a way that's good for their company, good for our economy, and good for America, not just good for themselves."

Income inequality is a hot button issue with audiences, particularly the blue collar workers that Obama is trying to peel away from Clinton in the more economically distressed regions of Indiana and Pennsylvania, which holds its primary April 22.

USA Today reported this week that the median compensation for chief executives at the 50 largest companies in the United States was $15.7 million last year, even though some of the companies were not performing well.

Investor advocates, union pension funds and shareholder groups have supported the legislation. Republican critics worry it would give activist investors an inroad to change a company's policies.

Even President Bush last year questioned the extravagant pay of some company managers and directors, but said it was not a matter for government involvement.

It's nice we don't lie to our neighbors about Hillary on this thread. ;)

:confused3 huh? I missed something...

Anyhow, Pr Surfer's article was quite articulate in why I don't trust her either

"But Bush political failings are not describing his character or the root cause of his failures. They are merely the results. What better describes Bush are his tenacity, unwillingness to compromise, to reach out, to listen to contrarian opinions, to admit a mistake, to change the course. Bush is unchangeable and will pursue his goals against all odds with total disregard to the costs he puts on anyone around him.

If the current Democratic primaries taught us anything, it is that Hillary Clinton is similarly tenacious, unwilling to compromise, to admit mistakes, to give up when odds of winning are so slim as to become unrealistic. She seems to pursue her own interests with total disregard to the damage she inflicts on the Democratic party."

::yes:: ::yes:: I feel like Hillary has the "my way or the highway" mentality that Bush is known for and if she is wrong, she tends to point out out someone else is wrong before owning up to her mistakes - I think her failed candidacy (one can only hope), poorly planned campaign, and lack of fiscal responsibility during the primary is only the start.

Can you imagine this man back in the White House?

Bill Clinton defends wife's Bosnia remarks

Mike AllenFri Apr 11, 5:39 AM ET

Former President Bill Clinton gave a passionate defense Thursday of his wife’s claim about “landing under sniper fire” – just as the damaging controversy was dying down.

Bill Clinton said the news media treated her like she’d “robbed a bank” and claimed she was experiencing end-of-day fatigue, even though she had made the claim in morning speeches.

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) acknowledged two weeks ago that she “misspoke” and “made a mistake” in her overly vivid account of the 1996 landing in Tuzla, Bosnia, during a goodwill mission as first lady.
Video of a tranquil arrival ceremony refuted the claim, and her comments hurt her struggling campaign by reviving questions about her candor.

Now, her husband has revived the issue by claiming the comments were true during a “Solutions for America” campaign event in at Boonville High School in Boonville, Ind. Here are his comments, recorded by networks and reported by CBS News:

"You know, I got tickled the other day. A lot of the way this whole campaign has been covered has amused me. But there was a lot of fulminating because Hillary, one time late at night when she was exhausted, misstated — and immediately apologized for it — what happened to her in Bosnia in 1995 [sic]. Did y'all see all that? Oh, they blew it up.

"Let me just tell you. The president of Bosnia and General Wesley Clark – who was there making peace where we'd lost three peacekeepers, who had to ride on a dangerous mountain road because it was too dangerous to go the regular, safe way – both defended her because they pointed out that when her plane landed in Bosnia, she had to go up to the bulletproof part of the plane, in the front. Everybody else had to put their flak jackets underneath the seat in case they got shot at. And everywhere they went, they were covered by Apache helicopters. So they just abbreviated the arrival ceremony.

"Now I say that because, what really has mattered is that even then she was interested in our troops. And I think she was the first first lady since Eleanor Roosevelt to go into a combat zone. And you woulda thought, you know, that she'd robbed a bank the way they carried on about this. And some of them, when they're 60, they'll forget something when they're tired at 11 at night, too.”
CBS News producer Ryan Corsaro, who covers Senator Clinton, reports she made the claim in mid-morning on St. Patrick’s Day.

CBS also has aired videotape of the senator making the claim on at least two other occasions.

The Eleanor Roosevelt claim also has been questioned, since Pat Nixon traveled to Vietnam in 1969.

Indiana holds its Democratic primary on May 6.

Liar, Liar Pant/Pantsuit on Fire

She didn't misspeak - she made the remark countless times and in prepared remarks.

But Bill can keep beating this drum, it'll just drive her poll numbers further down.

Um...Bill? How am I supposed to trust this 60 year old to answer the phone at 3 am if she can't handle a question at 11pm???
