I know this has been asked but I can not find the thread!

Can you set up ME but not "use" it? Meaning, can you set it up and use it for the luggage portion but not the bus? We always rent a car but it would be SO nice not to worry about the luggage at MCO!! Poor dh has quite a time getting all our "stuff" to fit on one of those carts! :rotfl: I'm thinking that it might be worth using ME just for that! Maybe we can get a car later!

I'm pretty sure I've read that you cannot use it just for your luggage transportation. You have to use the service for the ride to WDW as well.

There have been many posts stating this is not possible. I believe they scan your documents as you actually board the DME bus.

You could all take the bus and rent your car on Disney property.

That is actually what I am thinking!

What happens if I take the bus with the kids and dh drives the car? The only reason why I would even need the car at first is to go to the grocery store...but we all know there are ways of getting food to the resort! I can always have things delivered!

I had this same question for our October trip. I called directly to find out. No, your luggage will not go to the resort if you are not on the bus. We arrive at MCO early in the day. We always rent a car too, but we are taking ME and renting a car from the Car Care Center the night of arrival. This way we save a day of rental costs, but picking up and dropping off at the same time of day. We will NOT be taking ME back to MCO. We rented the car with pick up at CCC and drop off at MCO (no penalties). We have an evening flight and this way we can stay longer and not have to be out there so early to take ME back to the airport. This is a great strategy in that it save us both time and $.

That is a good idea! Do you think it is more expensive renting from the Disney property than MCO? Never compared the 2...thanks!

Renting on property should be less expensive (as you won't have to pay the airport surcharges). Plus, you may not need the car every day.

The National rates have been very sporadic no matter where you rent from these days. However, I checked multiple times for comparisons between Disney's Car Care Center and MCO pick ups and the prices were about the same. On Disney property you also have the option of picking up at the Dolphin resort, but they don't have the same quantity of cars for selection.

I should know this but what car company is at the Dolphin? We will be at the BW our last leg of the trip and then we will need a car to drive to the beach....it would be VERY convenient to just walk over to the Dolphin and grab the car!
