More hugs and prayers on the way to you and your family. I hope that you will be able to see your brother soon.

Angelica - Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family, and especially your brother, at this very difficult time.

For all those interested in changes that are to be made during drydock - newly released press release:

CELEBRATION, Fla. – An exciting collection of enhancements awaits the Disney Magic as the ship heads into dry dock Sept. 6-24, 2008. The 2,700 passenger cruise ship will undergo a series of upgrades for guests of all ages.

Here is a glimpse at what’s in store:

Indulgence and Relaxation
Quiet Cove, the serene pool retreat reserved for the enjoyment of adults, will undergo a makeover including upgrades to Cove Café, the pool and the deck area. Cove Café, the ship’s sophisticated coffee lounge, will incorporate a new seating area with plush, comfortable chairs providing the perfect venue to relax while sipping a cup of gourmet coffee. Meanwhile, the adult pool will be outfitted with soothing, cascading waterfalls from the two hot tubs. Teak deck and lounge chairs with plush cushions will line the pool, creating an inviting, stylish ambiance in line with the Vista Spa and Salon.

Fun for the Little Ones
The Oceaneer Club, a Neverland-themed play space for 3-7 year olds, and the Oceaneer Lab, a whacky and interactive laboratory exclusively for 8-12 year olds, will be enhanced with new registration areas that make the check-in process more efficient and hassle-free. This sets the stage for incorporating Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the youth activity areas later this year, which will further enhance and streamline the check-in process. The technology uses RFID tags embedded on wristbands, allowing children to simply tap a sensor to check in and out of the clubs.
Even the youngest cruisers will have a splashtacular time in “Mickey’s Splash Zone,” a new toddler water playground inspired by Fantasia’s Sorcerer’s Apprentice. This 385-square-foot extension to the Mickey Pool on deck 9 will feature star- and moon-shaped interactive fountains, a soft play surface and whimsical splash zones; creating an inviting environment for children not yet toilet trained and in swim diapers.

New Conveniences
The guest staterooms onboard the Disney Magic are receiving an infusion of technology with the installation of flat-screen LCD television sets. The new 22-inch units will be mounted on a swivel arm to allow easy viewing from multiple locations within the stateroom.

Tig, I read your report on excursion alternatives, doing them through privare companies for less money. I'm desperately looking for ways to save a few dollars without compromising all the fun we'll be having. Remenber, there are 6 in my group, a pretty penny to say the least.

And Robin, I'm so glad DCL is switching to flat panel tvs...cool!

I've decided that if I can't fit my size 10 clothes by cruise time, I'm not going. I refuse to spend money on new clothes. only kidding, but if you see me wearing the same size 14/16 shorts and tee everyday, don't make fun of me!!!!!!!!

Anjelica, I told my military brother about Chas, and he sends his love and gratitude for Chas's bravery. I'm SO very happy to hear that you have friends and family to help outwhile you go to be with Chas!

It's hot here today, and as much as I love summer, I've had enough, and can't wait for autumn to hit.

So are you concierge and REAS cruisers ready to make your online DCL ressies? It's almost time!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FYI: Kelly, Adrian finally came home last night (first NC then Philly then home)

I asked him about talking to Brian about the Coast Guard. He's going to see another recruiter first then we'll hook Brian and Adrian together on the phone~

Aisling, that's actually good news that you now have an exercise partner. Motivating each other to get healthy is cool~The cost cutter advice came from the info link I posted here a page or two back. For as much as I thought I knew, these people have some great advice.

Robin, thank you for the Magic update!

Considering I spent and most likely will spend again most of my cruisetime in the Adult pool and Cove area - me likey ::yes:: Updated loungers and waterfalls~Oh my!

i'll be right there with you Colleen...can't wait to see/try out the new chairs (& what ever drinks) at the pooln & the Cove Cafe....:woohoo:

rec'd our packet today...but no time to look thru it today...have some shopping & lots of packing to do tonite....

Best of Luck on your 3 day walk Brenda!

I've been over reading Cruise advice for the last hour :ssst:

We're not really partners, as in working out together, since I'm working aith a trainer everyday, and my brother and I go to the gym at different times, BUT we are indeed working together as far as encouragement and keeping track of each other. It's all good.

News: Jesse broke up with Gabbie.:sad1: As a girl, I feel so sad for her, but as his mom, I'm glad he was gentle and honest with her that he just doesn't feel the same way anymore. He didn't just drop her, he said over the summer he's been spending less time with her, sort of easing into the break-up. She says she still wants to be friends, and he's happy about that. I've gotten so used to her, I REALLY love her, they seemed so compatable, but they're only 16, so in a way I'm glad that he hasn't gotten too serious leading to "intimacy". Sounds like TMI, but as moms, it's something we may all have in common with our growing kids at some point.

Brenda, do you start your 3-day walk tomorrow?

I spoke to Grim and Dede the other night. They're doing well, Piper is a living doll, and they're busy with work and life.

Artie, how's your recovery coming along?

Hey Colleen, no problem. Just let me know when, and I will have Brian call him!

I am getting ready to make our payment. Soooo exciting!! To say the least!

I am very much looking forward to this cruise!!!!

Anjelicia, I too shared the news w/Brian... He too shares w/so many in the thoughts and prayers for your brother. :grouphug:

Next Saturday is 105 days out. Now I just need to figure out what day to make that my Palo ressey. I don't want to miss pirate night, I was thinking maybe Sunday night after Key West. I think we want to do a brunch as well, it would be cool to go there during daylight hours. Any thoughts?

That's tough for all involved, but a necessary part of life. Sounds like your raising a gentleman, good for you and him

Artie, how's your recovery coming along?

Recovery is going very well, all of the bruising is gone, just a little puffy on the one side of my face (mostly in the morning). No Bic Mac yet, just can't get my mouth open wide enough yet, and I refuse to disassemble one (that ain't right).

Still feels like I have someone else's teeth in my mouth, but I am beginning to see the final product, and it's all good.

I am very much looking forward to this cruise!!!!

Ever since Kelly joined us this thread has turned into a real downer. I just wish she were a little more excited about this cruise. ;)

Kelly, you must have been a cheerleader in high school. :cheer2:

This is tough one. Try not to miss Pirate Night. Even though the party goes on quite long after dinner up on deck, the fanfare in the dining room is wonderful. Get ready to do the limbo!!!!!!!
Hopefully when Kelly calls, she'll be able to report on the exact schedule for each night, since we know DCL is shuffling things around.

Watch, when we meet Kelly on the cruise, she's going to end up being a whiner, complainer, hard-to-please, cruise-hatin', dullard!:rotfl: Brian is forcing her to go on this cruise...she'd rather stay home and go to work everyday that week! She's tricking us, people!!!!!!!!

{{{{{{{Kelly:hug: }}}}}}}

Artman, I was thinking, does Claudia feel like she's kissing "another" man? OMG I can't believe I had the nerve to ask that!:rolleyes1

Thank you for your comment on Jesse. Yes, thankfully he and his brother are gentlemen.:goodvibes That's because I threaten them that I'd better not EVER have an irate father banging on my door, complaining about how his daughter was treated by my son(s). Now if only I could get Jesse to keep his room neat, he'd be a perfect:angel: .

I get that way sometimes...

I have so much to say and have no idea how to say it...

Jesse is such a gentleman. I know you are proud~

Artie, lets see.. I was a cheerleader in junior high for the pop warner football, then didnt make the team in HS, but I can assure you, it wasnt from lack of trying... but then in College, I made the basketball/hockey cheerleading team.. (my college was small, and as such did not have a football team) HA..

Aisling, how did you know I prefer to be at work all the time?!?!? LOL!!! I LOATHE coming to work. Its not that I have a bad job.. I have a great job actually.. I just LOATHE getting up for work and sitting here all day long. I feel there are other things that I could be doing!! Sadly, I only get 2 weeks off a year, wont get another week for 3 more years.. ugh.

Give me a D give me a Cgive me an LWhat does that spell???? DCL!!!!!

just a quick fly by

Glad to hear the healing is coming along

good luck with the walk

hope good news for your brother

spoke to the center that took in the hawk - got a good progres report card - he is currently in one flight cage, 'talking' up a storm and eating well - he should be transferred to another big flight cage in a day or two - and hopefully released back into the big old world in about a week

They had open house/meet teacher night at school last night - you walk through your kid (s) schedule - as we were leaving the band room - the assistant director caught me and said how thrilled they were to have a bass clarinet player that could play and loud - though a tad too loud on occassion - and he went on to say - other day Kara hit a really low note a tad too loud and made the flute players jump out of their seats - I always knew she ws full of hot air - this just proves it

Not a cheerearder here -but I do cheer at swim meets

have a good one all!

:)
