NYE Western Cruise 2008 - New Thread

Well, I did my 45 minutes on the treadmill, and I have to say I felt great afterwards. I'm a very sensory-affected person, probably from working for so many years as a sensory therapist, so I made a music CD of songs from my younger, fitter days, and it strongly put my mind in the zone of my younger self. I was having flashbacks to when I was active in running and yoga, and I liked that me very much. And I promise to do it again tomorrow.

Nan, I was thinking about what you said about Molly gaining weight. I was always thin as a child, until I hit puberty, when I became chubby for no apparant reason. But after I "became a young woman", and my hormones leveled out, I naturally lost all the extra weight. By 13 I was as slim as before, but with some new curves thrown in. I stayed slim until a few years after I had Jesse. So of course get her active, but keep in mind it may just be hormonal at her age.

Claudia, from your photo, you look lovely, a very nice womanly size with no excesses that can be seen. If I could look like you, I'd be a very happy Aisling.

Just for fun, how do you all pronounce my name? I know Nan, Grim, Brenda, jill and Tig know, but I've had my name pronounced so many different ways, I'm curious!
Don't worry, no points taken off for incorrect pronounciations!

Yeah!! Good for you. The first day is the hardest. Keep going you can do it. I was running every day for a couple of months and then I lost it. I'm gonna get back at it. Are you walking or running? I'm going to visualize you next to me when I get on the treadmill. It'll be a little mental support.:hyper2:
Ok, here is my guess......Rump-el-stilt-skin. Do I get to keep my child?

Claudia and I had talked about this before, we had come up with the quite obvious A's-Ling.

Given Nan's response, it must be something slightly more exotic, so I will go with Ash-Lean. I am racking my limited brain capacity, and I think there used to be a reporter in Halifax that had the same name.

However I'm hopping that Rumpelstiltskin sticks. :lmao:

I apologize for anything Artman says. Once he gets going he is relentless. You made the huge mistake of telling him he was funny early on. You unleashed a monster.
Artman, you should take care on what you wish. :dancer:
Yes, Artman, you should. I'll be looking for a shiny suit for you now!!:stir:
I'm just going to call her RUMP :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Yes I do realize that I might be called something in retaliation, but that my friends is part of the fun :rotfl2:

Soooo bad!

That, my friend, sounds like a "rump roast"

:lmao:

Like I need any more reminder of my rump! Nan, you're lucky I love you!

Artman, you asked for it, on cruise day I WILL be wearing that Rumplestilskin name tag!

Are you walking or running? I'm going to visualize you next to me when I get on the treadmill. It'll be a little mental support.:hyper2:

Claudia, I "trot", more than a walk, but not quite running. (No horse jokes, Miss Nanette!) I do plan on working up to a run, as I used to enjoy running very much. And :thumbsup2 about the mental support. I'll be on my treadmill in about 30 minutes or so, after I straighten up the kitchen. Better get to it!

Did you get your 30 minutes in Aisling?

Our neighbors came over. I had gone over to my sister's to feed her dog and brought him back here for awhile. No sleepover tho -I think Tito is happier sleeping at home than he would be here~

Your a good sport Aisling.:goodvibes

Thanks, Artman.

I did indeed get my treadmill time in last night. One more day and I'll break my record of compliancy...3 days in a row!

Seriously, 6 months is going to go by so fast, there's no time to waste if I'm going to fit any of those beautiful clothes I already bought 2 sizes too small!

I've been wearing the same tee and shorts when I treadmill, so hopefully I'll soon begin to feel them getting loose.

Mel went into work at 5 am this morning to finish up his work, as he starts vacation next week. We won't be going anywhere this summer, to save that money for the cruise. He usually goes to Sarasota Florida for tennis camp every year while the rest of us go to Disney, but none of us mind skipping it this year, since it's for a worthy cause!

My two nephews slept over my house last night (Cory and his older brother Jordan who's home from college for the summer), and they along with Jesse spent their evening making prank phone calls to a tv psychic. At first I told them to stop, but I have to admit it was hilarious how they flustered the guy. I know, we're a looney family.

Nothing planned for today, just relaxing.

Good day to you all!

:woohoo: Yay! :woohoo:

Only six months and six days to go~

I started getting John into the cruising mindset last night...

by the time the conversation was over the neighbor's wife (Cheryl) is going to Alaska with him and the husband (Albert) is going to Mexico with me :faint:

Cheryl has been to Tulum, they've both been to Mexico and were telling John all about it and how much they enjoyed it! She totally recommends he do the ruins, says it's not to be missed.

Getting John to realize he's actually going to enjoy this trip is going to be a battle. He wants to travel everywhere but has serious issues about ways of getting there  Cheryl was no help with getting him onto the ship. She's another who lets the "possibilty" of seasickness hold her back. She also gets sick on little boats (like John) and is afraid of having that feeling while stuck on a cruise ship for a week.

I told her to go on a short jaunt, like to Nassau, and TRY IT! I can almost guarantee her if she does it right she will have the best time ever.

Why is it so hard to get people past the seasickness thing :confused3

So you mean you TOLD John about the cruise? I thought you were going to wait until the last minute. GREAT if you told him!

We might head to the shore tonight...

depends on John's mood when he gets done work.
(not to mention I still gotta feed Tito)

Mom's competition is tomorrow afternoon. When Laurie (my sister) gets back from her weekend in SC, she and I are going to go watch Mom compete. I am also going to get Mom some good pictures of her while skating.

Mom, you are also going to pose for me on the side so I can get a portrait of you like the ones hanging all over the rink of the other competitors.

Girlfriend, I've been telling him for months!!!

He's always telling me, no way am I getting him on a cruise ship!
(I had to show Cate how he reacts cause she didn't believe me -
she said Cruise?, he said NO!)

I always feed him trip details in drips and drabs so he can get used to the idea by the time it's time to go. (That's anywhere we go! - except NC, he's always fine with NC)

Aisling, have you been walking?

This is your conscience checking up on you :)

Looks like I'll be in New York on Friday to meet with you and Brenda :woohoo:

Where we going for lunch?

Looky what I made...

this is on the back of my current business cards~

my contact info, myspace and photobucket addys are on the front.

Hi guys!!! Just checking in to say today's my birthday!!! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: I've had a wonderful day - a delicious family dinner out last night and a fab day in the garden, sipping Pimms and enjoying the sunshine... :cool1:

Happy Belated Birthday, Kaz! I hope you got lots of gifts!

Tig, oh conscience-of-mine, I'm still on track with the treadmill. It's not such a burden after all to find the time/motivation. The time on the machine really goes fast, and I do work up a good sweat.

About Friday, I was thinking of having lunch here at my house, since I'm so close to JFK. Any suggestions on what to have to eat? How about New York deli?

NY Deli sounds good to me...are you picking me up at MSG?

Here's a couple pics I took of Mom today...

I used a star filter on the second one...

and I was playing with a special kaleidescope filter for the last one

I am seriously thinking of editing out that yellow triangle when I print this one

I have to sift thru the competition photos...there were three things I was fighting today, I couldn't use my flash, it was inside and without flash very dark and it's an action sport - try capturing action inside withour a flash and see what *you* get ;)

I have about 50 pictures of which about 6 will be useable -
thank goodness for digital! That woulda been alot of film~
