Does anyone know if there will be any activities planned? Went to Congress Park Pool Party last year and had a great time watching DTD fireworks. But - I'm assuming the Fireworks are off this year due to PI refurb (If I'm wrong - please let me know.)

Anyway wanted to know if anyone knew what was going on this year?

Curious to know! Also - I wonder if you can see any parks Fireworks from places at SSR? I'd like to avoid the parks...but still be somewhere "active" for midnight (no bars/clubs - will have my 2 kids in tow as well.) :yay:

It's our first New Years trip and we will be at SSR also. We had requested Congress Park and are very upset about the closing of PI! So any word would be appreciated here also.

I also posted the same questions and was told that there will be a party by others DISers. I don't know for sure, but I hope so!!

We will be at SSR as well for NYE, didn't plan on going to the parks, so here's hoping some kind of activities will be going on at the resort

Pleasure Island is not closed, just the clubs at Pleasure Island. Portabello Yacht Club and Fultons are still open at Pleasure Island.

As far as the fireworks, I am not sure. I have not found anything that mentions it. I can only find mention of Cirque du Soleil La Nouba party on New Year's Eve. So since the "hard ticket" event at Pleasure Island is gone, maybe the fireworks are gone too.

We will also be there for New Years so we will be watchig this for updates. Also thought of trying to get a view of DDT for fireworks would like to see that happen to miss the large crowds.
I thought we might try to go over to Fort Wilderness and watch the fireworks from the beach, thougth this might be a good back up plan.

We will also be at SSR through New Years. We weren't sure if we were going to try going to either Epcot or HS or stay at SSR, so we will wait and see if there are fireworks at Pleasure Island before we decide.

I was told by member services to call SSR two weeks prior and they should have some activities planned. We don't have a Long distance plan that covers United States, I will call on Sat, but I hope they don't put me on hold:rolleyes1
Anyway, if anyone finds out please post it
THanks:cool1:

Have read many great reviews of SSR's past NYE celebrations and were looking forward to this year's. I would bet there will be something going on this year (to what extent?????). If not we may have to plan our own poolside celebration.......:goodvibes :lmao:

Same here! We got really excited looking @ last year's photos from the pool party & booked ..... :headache: We even made our NYE dinner ressie @ Turf Club so we would be at the resort! Guess we're in the "wait & see" boat with everyone else now .... :confused3

So - do you think Disney will mind if we all bring our own fireworks to the pool area for our "private party"?!? :rotfl:

Private party-Hey we're in !! I don't know about fireworks- but if we splash in the pool using coloured flash lights???- I know it's not Illuminations but we can still have fun!!

We will be at SSR on NYE also!!! We made dinner ressies at Downtown Disney in hopes for fireworks also. I hope SSR has something planned, because I don't want to take a 5 and 6 year old into the parks when they are shoulder to shoulder crowded.

We also requested Congress Park because of the pool party.

Sounds like fun. Unfortunately we won't arrive until 11:30 a.m. on the first.

So if you have a 2 BR Dedicated Grandstand at SSR, and you are leaving on January 1st, please depart early so we can get it on our room. (said in good fun) I am afraid this will be the latest we will ever have had to wait to get in our room. I am sure nobody will be leaving until 11:00 check-out time.

By chance has anyone heard any more info? I booked a SSR studio for my sister very early in the year with the plan to hit to Pleasure Island but of course that's off the table. She wants to know what else might be going on.

Yeah, we're staying at SSR for the first time, and were wondering the same thing about fireworks.

Has anyone been to the SSR NYE's party before? If so, what's it like and do you have any pics?

TIA!!!
