NYC Public Schools closed tomorrow

So now I'm beginning to believe we're really going to have a big snowstorm. Our mayor (Bloomberg) isn't one to close schools unless he practically heard it from God that there will definitely be more than a foot of snow! My son said when they made the announcement over the intercom at school today, the screams and shouts of joy were deafening, which is hilarious because this is a high school!

You are not kidding - I'm a class mom, so I have to make 5 am phone calls! I hope they call it tonight!

I have to wait until tomorrow morning to find out if DS7's school is closed. Right now though, it's nice and sunny out and NO SNOW

While not in NYC, out on the island and the hype is crazy I can't believe Bloomberg did that without a snowflake in sight right now. Tomorrow should be interesting to say the least

My three children go to elementary school in New York City and I stopped into the school to leave something off. One of the teachers told me that all the kids already knew that the mayor had closed the public schools and the whole building was cheering when they made the announcement. I am sure all the kids are thrilled .

Oh yeah. I usually get up at 6:30 but I might get up earlier and go to WALK's web site to see the school closings. The list is usually too long to listen to and it's much easier just to scroll down a list.

This hardly ever happens in NYC, so you could imagine how excited the kids are!

I even go to the school website or call the main number. When they close the schools they usually have a recoding.
I'm sure with Bloomberg closing already( which I think is way too early)
many of the Long Island schools will decide tonight.

Yesterday the teachers were telling the kids Wednesday looks like a snow day!

Long Island here. We have a central recording for the district. I am hoping that call gets made this evening! That way I don't have to set the alarm for 5:45A! We also have a district website that states school closings on the front page. Some of the forecasts have been interesting. I watched the mayor earlier and he seems to have the inside dope.

I know, that's why I was so shocked when I heard this announcement so soon. Robin was staying home anyway. She has strep throat, and can't go back until Thursday.

That's where my son will be going to in Sept!!


Just heard that the RIPE program in BC will be closed, if that helps you in any way.

WALK already has a list of school closings and it's a fairly large list. DS's school isn't on the list - yet.
