NYC CRUISES PLANNING/INFO ThREAD!

What excursion would you take in Canada when you have three kids at different ages?

We are doing the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic in Halifax (Learn the Ropes Featuring Exclusive Youth Activity & Hop On Hop Off)

We're doing the Sugar Shack brunch in Saint John.

Considering a late flight out of New York on disembarkation day. Anyone have suggestions of luggage storage for a few hours instead of just heading to the airport and hanging out.

Looked at the DCL transfer offerings, but tad pricey for what they are offering when you have to multiply by 4.

Anyone called and know how the DCL transportation from airport to port will work and how much. I need to make final transportation arrangements in the next couple weeks and wondered if we signed up for a time at the airport or just gave them our flight information like we do ME for WDW. And then how much it would cost....it's $35ish for MCO to Port right?

I was looking into this a while ago and found Schwartz Travel & Storage

www.schwartztravel.com

It has locations near to Penn St station and the port and got really got reviews.

The other option is to sign up for a NY excursion on board, but as we will have been in NY for 5 days prior to the cruise these seem to cover most of the things we will have already done.

We have always carried on our bags when sailing on the Magic or Wonder out of Port Canaveral - it just makes it easier to go right to stateroom and drop them off. That way we know that we have everything. Can you do the same when sailing out of New York. I don't know if there is an issue with the scanners. In Florida, the scanners can accommodate any size bag.

Thats great info

We are on the August 12th cruise and plan to do NYC for the day on Friday the 17th when we get off the ship. We live in CT so driving in. Does anyone know if we can leave our car at the port until later in the day? If not, is there a place we should go to park?

Thanks, kristina

Just paid for transfer from port to JFK...$36 per person.

:cool1::cool1: only 43 more days until we are in the Big Apple for the 1st time and onto the Magic for the 2nd time!

This is what I'd found
Parking at the terminal is $35/night so $175 for the duration of the cruise. Taxes are included and they accept cash, Visa or Master Card only.

Cruise parking opens at 9am and you must check out by 1pm on your departure date. Parking is limited and not reserved.

Does anyone know of a place that will rent and deliver a scooter to the Manhattan Terminal?

I'm have a car service pick me up. Any idea what time I should tell them I'd be debarking and when to pick me up?

We have late seating so I think we have "late" (and I use this loosely) seating for breakfast that last morning...

This is my first Disney cruise so I have no idea how their debarking works. I just know it has to be better than my last RCCL cruise from NJ.

I have a couple of silly Broadway questions and would appreciate any help.
1. We are seeing Mary Poppins -- what do most people generally wear to a matinee. As dressed-up as an evening show?

2. There are currently seats available in the 2nd row. Is this just too close?

Thanks again!

Yes 2nd row seats at Mary Poppins is way too close. The set is a 3 story house. You will be craning ur neck the whole show and not appreciate most of the special flying effects.

I sat mid orchestra and they were perfect.

You'll see everything at a matinee. I usually wear jeans and a nice short sleeve tee or top in the summer.

See note in Red.

2. There are currently seats available in the 2nd row. Is this just too close? For me yes it would be to close. Do you like the 2nd row at the movies?

Thanks again!

NJGirl and MinnieGg4,

Thanks for the help. No, I don't like the 2nd row of the movies; I didn't think of it that way -- you are right.

Thanks!

You can wear just about anything...it will run the gamut.....

2nd row too close.....if you are wanting orchestra and seats still available....try for mid orchestra....maybe 10th row.

I have memories of seeing Carol Channing on Broadway as Dolly and our 10th row orchestra was perfect....grew up in NYC and went to Broadway shows constantly (cheap then, cheaper at TKTS!) but these seats are my standout memory of a perfect leading lady in a perfect show!

Enjoy!

I have one in McKnight and on in Kreps and one at MCCC, lol - (she went ot HHS)

Hi there

I was just reading through your post about parking. I also live in East Windsor. I will have a child in McKnight next year. We are going on the Disney cruise on July 20th. The only other thing I thought of was calling someone like Olympic Limo who does van rides..not sure how much it would be though....

Thanks
Kelly
