We have having a Wishes wedding this November with approximaltely 50 people. There are a few friends that have either younger or teenage children that I am not sure about having at the ceremony and reception. It is kind of hard to have a wedding at Disney but not have kids there. I know this sounds harsh but for example one of my bridesmaids sister and her husband. We are friends with the sister and her husband and see them at social occassions. They have two boys (14 and 16) that are so not into Disney. If we see the kids once every two years it is alot. We also have a friend (he will be one of DF ushers) and his wife. They have a 7 year old. They actually suggested they would bring one of their nieces to Florida with them and have her stay with the 7 year old so the parents could enjoy the wedding. She would either take him to the park that day or maybe just the pool at the hotel. She babysits for them quite often so he will be more comfortable with her then using a babysitting service and the parents actually suggested it.

We were thinking of not having the kids at the ceremony and reception but inviting them to the Desert Party that evening. Please not hate mail about this I was just wondering what everyones thoughts would be on this.

what it all comes down to is that its YOUR wedding. Do what makes you happiest.
Disney also has kid partys(a babysitter with diffrent activities and food for all the children) during adult only weddings, you could always look into that.

For a while there, Disney wasn't letting you have more people at the DP than at the wedding, but that could've just been for Escape weddings to keep people from using the DP as an unofficial reception.

I'm all for using babysitting or asking the kids to only come to the DP!

Thanks for responses. I might consider a kids party. I was also interested if the same number of people had to be at the reception and the DP. I know my DF aunt lives in Orlando and I would love to have her at the ceremony and reception. She is in her 90's and I don't think she would make the DP. The same with some of the kids. I would love to have them at the DP only. I hope the number does not have to be the same at reception and DP.

I will have to check with Disney.

Thanks,
Linda

I have been to about 4 destination weddings(one at WDW) and a kiddie party(well anyone under the age of 18) was provided at all of them, so the parents could enjoy themselves at the reception. The best one according to my boys was at the Breakers in West Palm.

My cousin is planning a 30th VR next year at WDW for about 100 people and she's doing a kids' reception.
