i was wondering if you could only stay one time during the year how long would it be to fully appreicate disneyworld with 2 kids? I keep thinking 7 days is not enough, but I have somewhat planned out out for the 7days each park, but I feel like im rushing it whats everyoens opinion? 2 weeks, 1.5 weeks, etc..?????

I think it depends on the kids and what you like to do. Last trip was 6 days, 2 days at Magic Kingdom, 1 day at Epcot, 1 day Animal Kingdom, 1 day MGM, 1 day Typhoon Lagoon. We left early from Animal Kingdom due to rain and hit Downtown Disney. Next time we will have DS 2 1/2 and DD 12 (DS is new since the last trip..) so I want more days so we can slow down and not be so rushed. I missed soooooo much of Epcot that I really want to enjoy it this time. And to us Animal Kingdom was not an all day park anyway, we stayed as long as we did to see the parade and it got rained out!!! Also a day to enjoy Downtown Disney and just relax would be so nice, plus DH want's to go to Universal for a day...looks like I need a couple of weeks to do it all!!

1 week (7 nights) always seems too short to me so I am planning on 10 nights next family trip-The longest you can book 1 reservation for. I figure we will hang out at the resort the first day and then get 10 day tickets.

Happy planning!

We've gone for 7 days each of the last 2 years. But we've decided our next trip (hopefully Sept or Dec 2008) will be 10 days. 7 isn't quite enough for us, I suggested 8 or 9 next time, and DH said he thinks 10 - so of course I'll go along with him! Our only problem is when to go - I don't want to take our DD7 and DD9 out of school for more than a week. And I don't want to go during the summer.

You all are SO LUCKY! I can't get more than 5 nights every 2 years out of my DH. I've adapted quite well though. Decide what you REALLY want to do, and what you don't have to do and use your time wisely. For us, we don't do the water parks (yet) and will skip EPCOT in 2008. I think 7 days would be perfect.

We have always gone for 7 or 8 days. For some reason I always think that 10 days will be better. :confused3 We always end up doing what we want during that time. We know we will be back so we don't rush around trying to do it all. So, I guess the answer to the question is basically how much you plan on doing and is this your only trip for awhile? A once in a lifetime trip I would say definitely needs to be 10-14 days. A "till we get back again" trip 7 days would be fine. IMHO

Any length trip is a good trip, IMO, unless it's so long that your family starts to get sick of 24-7 togetherness!!! :) We plan on going every year at least once, but I doubt we'll ever spend more than 4 days in the parks on a trip. (Not that we wouldn't enjoy more, but it's a good balance $$-wise for us, knowing that we'll be back again the next year anyways.)

Just make sure you know what everyone's short list of must-see attractions includes and if you don't get to the other stuff, that's fine, IMO.

I have stayed as little as three days... That is just a tease. I have found that 10 days seems to be just right all around.

Best of luck to you!

A lot depends on what time of year you are talking about. We stayed 10 days the first couple of times we went and although we weren't ready to come home, we had done quite a bit and didn't feel like we had missed alot and we weren't exhausted at all. We have never done it all on any trips, however. We are pretty laid back and we figure what we see, we see.....what we don't, we'll see next time.

7 nights (stayed offsite previous night in daytona so we were able to check in and go to the parks) gave us about 7-1/2 park days we took one morning and one evening off. This was good. The second trip was a little harder because of seasons everything closed earlier. however we still feel like we got to see most of what we wanted...except the epcot countries more. I just cant ever seem to have enough time to really explore them with my dd. We saw lots of shows. We do not hop.

Our schedule usually includes something like 2-1/2 days MK, 2 1/2 days Epcot, 1 day Ak and 1 and 1/2 at MGM. We really dont need the extra 1/2 day at mgm but I haven't found a good touring plan for it that works for us well. We just kind of squeeze it in if we can. We have never done fantasmic at mgm or the play area at Ak. but other than that we feel we get to do about everything there is to do each time. And honestly after 8 nights in a hotel room with two kids we are ready to go home.

I think it depends on your kids' ages. Obviously, you move slower w/ the littler ones. We are going this year and have booked 8 nights at WDW with a 1yr. old and a 5 yr. old. Last year we did 9 nights and, I can't believe I'm going to say this :crazy2: , I was actually ready to get home by the last day.

We are going for 12 days. I figure the first day you get there and your last day really dont count as 'full days', so if you go for 12 days...you get to enjoy 10 full days.

oh I am so glad to read this. we have also done around 7 days for lots of trips and felt rushed from thing to the next to fit it all in. . .so I started out planning 2 weeks for this upcoming trip and to be honest it seemed to long! Can't believe I am saying that but perhaps it is just a cse of knowing your kids an in my case, my Dh well and what they will tolerate.

I can not do commando anymore (ahh, age is such a glorious thing ~~for sitting around and saying back in the day~~~ that is LOL) however, my 2 Jr Highers and DH can and do and really would prefer if I would just keep up! arg.

I need down time for energy to deal with our 2 little ones (4 and almost2) so I schedule in some rest days every couple of park days and mix in a water park or 2 and it becomes very doable.

The undoable part with a longer trip was thinking how my DH would be acting 10-14 days out on such a trip, he would be counting ever single penny we were still spending and just be ready to go home, a real joy a minute so . .

I am back to planning 2 days of travel with 10 days there and it sounds perfect "on paper" so far!

Everyone is different!

Our longest trip was 8 nights, and if I'm being honest I have to say that by the end of it we'd had enough and were ready to go home. For us, 6 days is about perfect. We can do the major parks and also a water park or two.

I think that I could spend a year. :beach: But honestly I think about 12 days would be perfect. Like someone said, arrival and departure days I always feel like they shouldn't count.

Wow, all of you I am in awe of. I have never stayed for more then 3 or 4 days. Honestly we can not afford anymore then that. But we get through the parks just fine in that amount of days
