Nowhere to go.

I have nothing but respect for the funeral director, disgust for the protesters and sympathy for the victims of the bombing. The mother is a nut job, but I feel for the rest of the family.

I agree with what was said in the NY Times, if it can be arranged, the best place for burial is in Russia.

I thought they could not send him to Russia because Russia will not take a known terrorist, alive or dead.

Well, she doesn't actually believe there are victims. She (like the state rep from NH) actually think the whole thing was staged. The photos faked, the blood was all paint. So if you think those victims were actors then why would you offer sympathy?

I think the uncle just thinks that where the family did live in Cambridge that it's the logical choice on where he should be buried. Like most other criminals, they end up buried in family plots in family locations. I don't see really anything unusual about it. He's not really insisting that. He simply wants a burial. Anywhere.

the mother is really unreliable. One minute she says she doesn't want the body in Russia and the next she says she does. All that is irrelevant though as Russia has said it will not accept the body. Regardless of what the mother wants. The funeral home can't just put the body on a plane and wash it's hand of the matter.

On the other hand, the work of the funeral home continues for another local family and their mourning is being disrupted simply because of the clothing worn by some of the family. Pathetic:

I am trying to understand why the uncle didn't quietly take the body and bury it privately, as Adam Lanza's father did his son. There is no "family plot" in Cambridge and does anyone believe the parents will return there? Instead, he publicly stated that his nephew should be buried in Cambridge. IMO, part of the reason of the turmoil can be linked to the family's (including the mother in Dagestan) speaking with the media. I just don't understand the lack of discretion on the part of the uncle. I do feel sorry for the funeral home director.

Tsarnaev’s uncle’s statements that he believed the body should be buried there and that Tsarnaev’s “home country is Cambridge, Mass.”

The mother still insists that it was some sort of government coverup/conspiracy/plot and that the victims were just faking it. So no, she hasn't offered any sympathy.

Then again , I can't really say the mother is any worse than some people in THIS country who are saying the same thing. Google Stella Trembley, a state rep from NH. :rolleyes1 I have a bigger issue with this lunatic than I do with the mother.

She is a special kind of crazy.

Why do you keep blaming the people of Worcester for this? First of all, the article clearly states the protester are a small group.

Why continue to give these people attention?

Second, how is this Worcester's fault? That funeral director is stuck with a body many cities and towns rejected. Let's not forget that. Every place that has rejected burying the body is to blame for this situation. It really has nothing to do with Worcester.

I've got no clue why you think I'm blaming the people of Worcester . You've lost me. And you're right, it has nothing to do with Worcester which is why I wish the news media would go away and why I wish the protesters would go away.

But I am blaming the lunatics that are out there holding up signs and flags (as if that's relevant) and disrupting the business of the funeral home, including the funeral for a young boy who drowned over the weekend. That is what's pathetic. I'm blaming that small group (including Breault who has over used his 15 minutes of fame) for being idiots.

Tonight there will be a counter protest by the St. Francis and Therese Catholic Worker movement to show that the city of Worcester - the majority of our people - want to do the right thing, not the popular thing, but do the right thing. The people want want this burial to just happen and for life to go on as normal. And for the news media to get out of our neighborhood.

This I don't know either. I'm not sure it was the uncle as much as it was the media who learned where the body was being taken and publicized that. however, the fact remains that even if it was all hush hush I think the same cemeteries would still be refusing the bury him.

In the end, I guess I don't understand why no one protested the burying of Adam Lanza . Both attacks were different and I'm unwilling to call one more heinous than the other, but he shot up multitudes of innocent children for no reason, not even a misguided political/religious one.

For those who have suggested doing all sorts of malicious things to the body (not those suggesting cremation), do you get upset when you see videos of US soldiers' bodies being desecrated in foreign lands?

You keep giving attention to these people. There seems to be this misconception that its some big protest. The media has a lot to go with that. Articles like the one linked earlier (I don't think by you), I think it was Esquire, are continuing this blame on Worcester. If you keep mentioning the protesters and posting links to stories (which really make them out to be more than they are), you are just continuing this image that somehow Worcester is to blame for this.

Why not focus on the fact that this funeral director is took the body to do what he feels is the decent thing and now he's being left hung out to dry by just about everyone?

Even Worcester is being hung out to dry. First it seems to have become the focus of the fact that nobody wants to bury him. Second, even without protesters, there would be additional costs to the city just because his body is there. There's still media and security needed for the funeral home just because his body is there.

Wha???? Are you actually here? Do you actually know what's going on here? I can't tell if you're deliberately not reading things properly or if you are not comprehending them.

Worcester isn't being hung out to dry. We want the idiots who are making the news to go home. We want the media to go home which will send the protesters home. We want the funeral home to be allowed to continue his work with the poor of our city, including conducting the funeral of a small boy who was killed this weekend which I linked to earlier. Mostly, we want the voice coming from the city to be louder than the idiots who are out there making the news. This is not what our city is about.

Didn't Adam Lanza's dad refuse to speak w the media? IMO, if he had told the press that he wanted his son buried in Newtown, there would have been an equal firestorm. Also, do we even know if Adam Lanza was buried and not cremated?

Ever article or new story that focuses on people in Worcester protesting the funeral home is just making Worcester look bad and blaming Worcester for nobody wanting his body. Linking sensationalize articles that use the drowning of a young boy do nothing to take negative attention away from Worcester.

Most people I know don't want any voice to be louder than any other. If the people making noise are idiots, what are the people making noise about the people making noise? Most people I know don"t care anymore and just want that body to go away.

Just stopped by the Dunks near the funeral home. There was one cop outside, a bunch of news vans, unmanned cameras on tripods and 6-8 people ...at the bus stop, waiting for the bus. Nobody was protesting. Guess I did know what is going on.

I don't say "we" because I understand that being from Worcester doesn't mean I'm the spokesperson for the entire city.

Unfortunately, the media is mostly to blame here. When the body was released, news helicopters followed the hearse to the funeral home in North Attleboro, and I assume they then followed it to the funeral home in Worcester. I am sure the intent was to remove the body quietly so no one would know where it went, but the media ruined that for everyone.

Really? That's awful! I'm usually one to defend the media, but they're truly making a circus out of this.

I can't see anywhere that says that anyone is blaming Worcester for fact that nobody wants his body. I have no clue where you're getting that from. The article I linked to wasn't sensationalized, it was an accurate account of what this media circus is doing to this city, and to a family who is grieving their lost son.

If you are from here, then what exactly is so frightening about having the body here? You're just as bad as the ones standing on the corner protesting. It's that sort of attitude that is fueling this whole debate, making the city look bad. "somebody" should take the body, but you don't want the body in your city? Is that accurate?

The fact remains that while the body is here, the media will be here and if the protesters just go home then at least the city won't look so bad.

the body being here is creating stupidity..protests and counter protests. Its all dumb. The attention is dumb.

Looks to me like there were no protesters a little while ago.

Seriously its not the big deal its being made out to be. I don't see how wanting all this stupid crap to end makes me as bad as people protesting. Seems like people continuing the stupidity by counter protesting are worse. My wanting his body to go away has everything to do with all the articles and media. It has everything to do with how my city is being made to look.

Well, it seems we want the same thing for our fine city.

Shall we meet down on King street and score some smack?

Our bishop who was just arrested for DUI or the guy with the torture chamber in his basement?

It's been a wonderful week for news.

None Of the things you are mentioning represent what this city is about. You said you weren't trying to portray Worcester in a negative way but you continue to do so. If its so bad, there are other places to live.
