Now what do I do?

We purchased our AP renewals in Dec and had several trips planned for this year. I had surgery, a cervical diskectomy, and ended up being off work longer than anticipated due to some problems. I asked to go unpaid, but much to my surprise (and dismay) my employer required me to use my vacation to cover my absence. Now, I have no vacation left for this year and won't be able to use the AP before it expires.
Has anyone had something lke this happen? Any sugestions on what I should do? I'm just sick over this.............

Since you bought a renewal and not a new voucher I don't think you have any recourse. Maybe your employer will let you take unpaid vacation leave? I lot of companies require employees to take all paid leave before going on any unpaid leave. Its a part of a larger policy that ends with the termination of an employee because they don't return to work. I know at my workplace an employee must use all paid leave and then is placed on a 5 month unpaid leave status. After five months if the employee still does not return they are placed on a 39 month rehire list and the employer can fill their position permanently. After the 39 months if the employee doesn't return to work they are offically terminated and the employer has no farther commitment to them

How can they take vacation when you where on sick leave.

I believe the Family & Medical Leave Act allows employers to require you to take all available paid time before you can go on the 12 weeks unpaid leave under the act. If the employer does not have a short term disability benefit, you're left with nothing else to do.

Since you have not used any of the days, I would write WDW, explain the circumstances and request a refund or a credit towards a future pass. Offer to provide documentation of your condition. It doesn't hurt to try. Good Luck.
