The photography course I took emphasized one thing..

It's not the violin, it's the violinist.

it's funny how people always ask a photographer what camera he uses, as if that is what made the picture great.

imagine asking a master carpenter what hammer he uses,,or asking a great artist what paint brush he used...LOL

it helps to have good tools, but it's the eye , knowledge and experience of a good photographer that makes the difference..

I couldn't agree more. That said, there was a time when my question would've been...."what's a camara" ;) If I keep asking I just might learn something. I sincerely appreciate any & all help I've recieved on these boards!

Thanks I think I will get some more Disney photos up this weekend.

Just to clarify, the lens used was actually the 300mm F2.8 but shot at F4. The bokeh of the 300mm F4 may not be quite so silky smooth.

isn't this actually a great example of SELECTIVE FOCUS..which is a lack or very shallow depth of field ??

Yup, I meant shallow DOF. I haven't heard of selective focus but I did a search and I now know of what you are speaking :thumbsup2

These are views out of our window when we spent the night in the Paradise Peir Hotel in Disneyland.

The shadow the Mickey Fountain put on the trash can was so perfect, I had to shoot it!

I used PhotoStitch to stitch this one.
Nevermind!! I can't get the pic to post for some reason, but I used photostitch to stitch pictures of the Magic Kingdom together.

That's amazing! I've never tried it before. How did you move your camera? Did you move horizontally (ie your entire body moved left/right) or did you make a pan (ie twist your body left/right)?

I was standing in the train station on Main Street, and just kind of panned my body around. I made sure that I overlapped each picture so that when I stitched them together I didn't miss any spots. It turned out pretty good, it was the first time I had ever tried.

The tips on how to do this says that a tripod greatly helps by keeping the images fairly parallel. :thumbsup2

I got my Canon S2 S1 yesterday, and finally got out to play with it today at Downtown Disney. Here a a couple of my first shots. I also included one of the sky this evening near my house. It was such beautiful colors, after an rainy dreary start to the day! We will be off tomorrow morning for breakfast at AK, and I am looking forward to lots more "practicing with my new "toy""! Hopefully with it being cooler, I will get some good photo ops of the animals on the safari!

We just got back last night from WDW. As always we had a great time. I used a tripod for the fireworks and took them from the upper-level of the train station.

I will post a few of the pictures when possible.

PS I pulled a bone head move and forgot to bring all of my memory cards for my camera so I spent the week with only one memory card.

The flag gives this a nice effect! Fireworks are my next mission next Friday night at EPCOT!
