We're going down December 13-19. I thought this was a fairly slow time (not as slow as when we went in mid-Jan 2001, though). I called yesterday to make my Hoop Dee Doo reservations for the 13th and the lady mentioned something about it being a "busy time of year".

Are they expecting large crowds that week, do you think? I thought that by heading out on Friday the 19th, we'd be leaving before the Christmas week crowds arrived.

Also, we plan on arriving Sat morning (driving from KY) -- a non-park day. I thought we could chill at the BWV or resort-hop, taking in the Christmas decorations. Does HDD (5 pm show)sound like the perfect end to our arrival day or should we save it for later in the week?

Thanks!

You might notice a slight increase in crowds the 18th and 19th but it is still a VERY slow time of year. I'm so jealous this will be the first year in 3 year's I'll miss the Christmas party and season - have a great time.

I agree, it's a very slow time of year. I went Dec. 16-20 of 2000 and Dec. 16-21 of 2001, and crowds were very small both trips. The crowds began to increase slightly at the very ends of the trips, but were still certainly manageable. Don't worry!

We had heard about the lower crowds during the first 2 weeks of the month, but during that time, you will see the big internet meet is going on as well as the doll & teddy bear weekend and the Pop Warner football superbowl. So, those things all translate into some larger crowds even for Value Season.

If you take a look at all the folks going to the various MVMCP dates, you will see the first 2 weeks are the most packed dates. I think we may be in luck, at least until that Friday. We shall see. I don't care how crowded it is. Mickey

I'm alittle nervous too as we are going 12/18-12/23 because of DH teaching schedule. I'm hoping the crowds are not that bad, our favorite week is the first week of December. But I would rather be going and chance the crowds than not go during the holidays at all.

We are going the 13th-20th too, and were there at that time last year. There seemed to be a lot of people in the parks, but no wait for the rides. In MK we walked on POC, and the entire ride was empty with no one in line and in the boats. We also walked on Splash Mountain, RocknRollercoaster, Tower of Terror, Dinosaur, And the Safari ride at AK. The longest lines we saw all week were at MK in Fantasyland, and the logest wait was 25 minutes for Dumbo. We were pleasantly surprised, because it was crowded, but no waits. I think alot of people came just to soak up the holiday atmosphere. We usually vacation in January or Februaury and it has always been great and uncrowded, but we will always go in December now that we experienced the holiday festivities. There is nothing like it!

I think Hoop Dee Doo is a great way to kick off a trip to WDW - puts you in the spirit right off.

i kept reading stuff about "Pop Warner" on various post regarding December or the value resorts
on their website it states that they will be in disney (wide world of sports complex/value resorts) from Sunday Dec 7th thru Saturday 13th

the Doll & Bear convention is Friday Dec 5th thru Sunday Dec 7th

& Mousefest 2003 (the Disney internet groups) is Sunday Nov 30th until Monday Dec 8th (11/30-12/4 cruise, 12/4-12/8 resort)

Woo! we arrive on the 13th!!!

Those first 3 weeks of Dec are when we like to be in the World. The decorations are up and the crowds are down. But keep it quite if you would. I am a shareholder and so I love to HEAR about the crowds, but I dont want to be there when everybody else is. So keep it this info under your hat if you would.

Have Fun and enjoy the World during the Christmas season, cause its beyond its normal beauty.

Great! Thanks for the feedback!

I'm not going to worry about crowds -- I'll just soak up the experience while we're there. I can't wait to take in all of the holiday decorations.

And shhhhhhh, it's our little secret, right? ;)

If you do end up doing the HDD your first day try to get over for a ride on the monorail before or after dinner and stop at the resorts along the way and check out their decorations. The GF is absolutely gorgeous for the holidays. The tree in the main building is stunning and you can smell the gingerbead house when you first step inside. Christmas season is our favorite time to go. We had a choice of taking a shorter trip this year or waiting until end of March beginning of April for a longer one - we wanted to come again for the decorations so the shorter trip one that vote!

I'll be there that week too!!!! I'm so excited :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:
