Now i'm really bummed... (Indiana Jones rehab)

Hopefully they are just being cautious with their timing.

I am disappointed for a different reason. I am going with my DD's who are both too short for Indy. I was hoping it was draw crowds away from the other rides we want/can ride! Bummer!

Very irritating. :headache: This one of our favorite rides! It's one of DW's favorites. Maybe they saw this coming, and came up with the other Indiana Jones distractions to compensate...:confused3

This makes me furious! Indy is my favorite ride and it won't be running during our trip. I just emailed all of my friends who are going too. I'm sure they will be upset as well. It just doesn't make any sense.

bulldoggrl We are going the 29th and 30th too! I cant believe its so close!
Hope you guys have a GREAT time! Indy closing really sucks!

I can't believe how sudden this was! I just checked the schedule a week ago and it was just IASW to be closed during out trip in July. I don't ride it but it is DH's favorite. What a bummer. I wonder what happened. Any CMs out there know??

Where is the website to check for this? I got an email from one of the disney fan sites that only mentioned IASW. Id like to know what else will be closed during our disneyland days between June 27th- July 7th. Obviously this would change Ridemax plans too. I noticed its still listed there but not IASW.

WHAT?!?! DD is finally tall enough to ride this and they close it in the summer when the Indy movie is in theaters? Just nuts. I'm very disappointed.

That does suck!! It is one of my oldest DS favs. We are not going until Halloween, so good chance it would be re-opened. But that is really a bummer for everybody else.

Something must have happened. There was a thread on here yesterday or the day before and an accident at DL on Sunday, I wonder if that is related? Anybody hear?

Where is the information about INDY being closed posted? Could anyone provide a link?

DGF received this info in an email:

They are replacing every speaker alongside the track. The Spike Room in the queue is having its mechanics rebuilt and refurbished. Lighting is being swapped out to newer LED fixtures that provide truer colors and better lighting effects. The speakers in the Ball Room are being replaced with modern fixtures that will contain the sound better and make the noise more pronounced to riders in the jeep, but won't bleed so much outside the building so you can hear it in Downtown Disney. Touchup painting and prop work is also being done on most scenes, and some new intercom and PA systems are being installed for CM's.

In short, this is a short and dirty rehab that should provide some pretty good bang for the buck. Even casual visitors should be able to notice the dramatic improvement in audio clarity and lighting levels throughout the ride.

Indy will reopen to park guests on Friday, August 31st.

Not sure how accurate, she is waiting for a response from Disney.

Indy has been going down a lot in the past 6 months. I ride it a lot and have noticed minor things being wrong for a while (snake lost his fangs, Indy at the end of the ride convulsing, we even stopped at the boulder for like 5 minutes just sitting there watching it roll towards us). They should have seen this comming or at least put it down for preventitive maintanence before the "summer of adventure".

I agree. Out of the 4 times times I've been on it in the past 6 months, it has broken down with me on it twice. It was broken down three other times with me just walking by. I would be glad if it were down for a good 3 months to make sure it started running properly again.

In short, this is a short and dirty rehab that should provide some pretty good bang for the buck.

But for who's buck? It's not a bang for my summer time buck. As Hydroguy says in his threads, the summer time is a cross between maximum crowds, maximum hours, and minimal refurbs. Isn't that one of the reasons we brave the summer crowds, so we can ride as many of the rides without them being down??? :confused3

It really doesn't sound like the improvements are related to any of the breakdowns. It sounds like they are ones that could (AND SHOULD) be done during a slower time.

Even casual visitors should be able to notice the dramatic improvement in audio clarity and lighting levels throughout the ride.

Well, those will be the only visitors noticing the improvements, because the serious summer visitors will get nothing! :furious:

A short and dirty rehab during peak season?!?! :furious: They knew when the Indy movie was coming out, this rehab should have been completed last fall. *$&%*%$&!!!

GUTTED!!! Indy is one of my favourite rides in SoCal!!

Like many others have said, why on earth is it closing one, during such a peak season and two, when the new Indy film has just been released? That doesn't make one bit of sense!

It's long overdue a refurb so why didn't they did it earlier this year? :confused3 Lines are going to be crazy this summer now... just like when Space Mtn was closed back in 2004... FUN!!

And re-opening just over a week after we fly home? :(

Wow I won't want to be the genius that decided this would be the perfect time to rehab Indy.

This makes little to no sense. I wonder if this was an unplanned refurb and they have no choice but to do it now.

The last time we visited Disneyland, the Indiana Joens ride was being built so we never got to try it out..EVER! I REALLY hope (for everybody) that it will be reopening soon enough!!!!:worship:

hum i agree they should of had it done before the movie came out but maybe something happened that made them have to scedule it.
aug 31st. is when it will be open so looks like those going in sep will be able to ride it and oct. I would of been poed to get there and it not be open. at least the dis gives us all warnings.
my ds will finely be big enough and has been looking forward to it.
I do wish they would of done this before last nov. when i was there the speakers seemed really bad and our truck was on the bridge longer then i remeber before.

aww, well that's a bummer!

I've been having the kids watch the old indy movies.. pumping them up for this ride!

Well, just another reason, why we need to make another trip to Disneyland in the future. (The first being IASW is DS6's all time favorite ride!)
